Marty supreme - My opinion (Esp/Eng)
— A few days ago, when I went to the cinema, I decided to watch Marty Supreme. I think it was a great decision to see it on the big screen. The film, starring Timothée Chalamet and directed by Josh Safdie, seems to me to be one of the great movies released in 2025.
— In this film, we follow a man named Marty, a man with an impressive talent for ping-pong something he is very aware of from the very beginning. From the start, we see Marty working at a place that simply is not right for him, with the goal of earning money so he can travel and compete in a ping-pong tournament. During this tournament, Marty shows his talent by putting on a great performance, winning over the crowd and managing to reach the final. However, in that final match he is outplayed by a competitor who stood out throughout the entire tournament, and he ends up losing to him. What follows in the film is seeing how Marty does everything possible to return to the tournament, no matter if his actions harm others, in order to prove to the world the following year that he is the best.
— Before watching this movie, I recommend preparing yourself because you might leave feeling stressed (it happened to me), since the film does not give you a single second to breathe. Something is always happening: when Marty gets out of one problem, he immediately gets into another, and then another one after that. This causes you to end up hating the protagonist, since many of his conflicts are born from his selfishness and his obsession with achieving his goal, without thinking about how it affects others. The hatred toward the protagonist is nothing more and nothing less than a result of Timothée’s great performance and how well written the character is. When Timothée said he was going for greatness and when I saw people saying that this movie would earn him an Oscar, I didn’t believe it and at times it seemed like an exaggeration—but after watching the film, I was completely proven wrong. I know that, looking at the current list of nominees for Best Actor, the competition is very strong; even so, he deserves this award just as much as any other nominee.
It’s not only Timothée’s performance that stands out—there are other cast members whose performances are very good, and what’s interesting is that some of them are not even actors. This is their first acting job, and they do it excellently.
— Lastly, the movie is a constant emotional roller coaster. In some scenes, you can feel tension and rejection toward the protagonist, but in others you genuinely want him to achieve his goal and see him succeed. One thing I really liked was how well the ping-pong matches are done: every point feels intense, and even though the tension is constant, the desire to see Marty win remains in every rally.

— Hace unos días yendo al cine, tomé la decisión de ver Marty Supreme. Me parece que fue una gran decisión verla en la pantalla grande. La película protagonizada por Timothée Chalamet y dirigida por Josh Safdie, me parece una de las grandes películas estrenadas en el 2025.
— En esta película seguimos a un hombre llamado Marty, un hombre con una habilidad impresionante para el ping-pong, algo que él tiene muy claro desde el inicio. Desde un inicio vemos a Marty trabajando en un lugar que simplemente no es para él con el propósito de conseguir dinero para poder viajar y competir en un torneo de ping-pong. Durante este torneo, Marty demuestra su talento dando un gran espectáculo, ganándose el apoyo del público y logrando llegar a la final. Sin embargo, en dicha final se ve superado por un competidor que dio de que hablar en todo el torneo y termina perdiendo contra él. Lo que sigue en la película es ver el cómo Marty hace lo posible para ir de nuevo al torneo sin importar que estas acciones dañen a otros y demostrarle el siguiente año al mundo que él es el mejor.
— Antes de ver esta película recomiendo prepararte porque puedes salir estresado (a mí me paso), ya que en esta película no te dan ni un segundo para respirar, en todo momento está pasando algo, cuando Marty sale de un problema se mete después a otro y después otro más. Esto provoca que llegues a odiar al protagonista, ya que muchos de sus conflictos nacen de su egoísmo y de su obsesión por cumplir su objetivo, sin pensar en cómo afecta a los demás. El odio al protagonista no es más ni menos que por la gran interpretación de Timothée y lo bien escrito que está el personaje, cuando Timothée dijo que iría por la grandeza y cuando vi a gente diciendo que esta película le daría el Óscar yo no me creía esto y en algunos momentos me pareció que estaban exagerando, pero cuando vi la película me cayó completamente la boca. Sé que actualmente viendo la lista de nominados a mejor actor la competencia es muy alta, aun así este premio se lo merece tanto como cualquier otro nominado.
No solo la actuación de Timothée da de qué hablar, hay compañeros de elenco cuya interpretación es muy buena y lo interesante es que algunos de ellos ni siquiera son actores, sino que este es su primer trabajo actoral y lo hacen de manera excelente.
— Por último, la película es un sube y baja constante de emociones. En algunas escenas puedes sentir tensión y rechazo hacia el protagonista, pero en otras realmente deseas que logre su objetivo y verlo triunfar. Algo que me gustó mucho fue lo bien logradas que están las batallas de ping-pong: cada punto se siente intenso, y aunque la tensión es constante, las ganas de ver ganar a Marty se mantienen en cada jugada.
