Novocaine: Mr. zero pain.

It's been a long weekend for me and I have been learning for my exam which took place this weekend. Is it just me or do you relate too? I have a stronger urge to watch movies when I have exams, I get it I'm a movie lover but even during exams? Duh. I had already exhausted all the movies on my drive I copied from from my friend. Then it clicked me I had downloaded a movie on telegram a few weeks ago. So I went straight to my telegram.

This movie 'Novocaine' is a 2025 thriller action movie released last month starring Jack Quaid. The title wasn't very catchy to me when I first saw it in one of those telegram channels that give new movies updates. I was like Novocaine? It's this a movie about coke or something . I had to Search to knownit means 😂. on the movie poster I saw my boy Jack Quaid one of the cast From 'The boys' then I read the summary and decided to try it out for the sake of my boy. 😂

Plot

This movie was about a young man called Nathan Caine who's is unable to feel pain because of this medical condition he has , due to this he takes mostly liquid foods because he could literally chew his tongue without knowing it. He is a good guy who works at a bank as an assistant manager , he has quite a lonely life with a friend whom he often plays online games with but has never met in person.
Turns out Caine likes this girl who has been working at the bank for four months but doesn't have the guts to tell her .

After an encounter with this girl at the office while he was making coffee, she later invited him to lunch. Things went well and and she invited him to an art thing which he was skeptical about but eventually joined her at the art show that night. Eventually they ended up at his apartment where things got spicy.

The next day at work Caine was all happy and cheerful, he finally got a shot at his dream girl, later he went from his office to talk to Sherry, the girl, when 3 thugs in Santa outfits bashed in. It was a bank robbery.This is where the movie gets interesting and intense. With a gun to his head, The bank manager was asked to say the codes to the vault which he refused and he was shot eventually because he saw the face of the robber.

Obviously Caine was next since he was the assistant, he tried to be stubborn at first but when they started to attack the nearest person Sherry who tried to intervene. Scared they might hurt her he said the codes and was knocked out.

Soon the robbers open the vault stole some money, upon hearing the siren of the cops from a distance they knew they were running out of time. They took Sherry as hostage and forced the cops who had already arrived to put away their guns by threatening to shoot the hostage. They rain gunfire at the cops injuring most and fled of with sherry.

Caine wake up shortly devasted that sherry was gone and acting on adrenaline he rushed out took a cop car to follow up them and save the girl of his dreams.He uses his condition of not feeling pain to his advantage throughout.

Twist
Sorry but spoiler alert after Caine goes through shit, suffering broken bones, 3rd degree burns, gunshot and others he found out Sherry was in on the robbery.

My Opinion
I think I've given enough spoilers already and I hope this enough to make you consider the movie , trust me you will love it, if you like action.
I got hooked on to this movie at the very start and I like Caine's character he's simple and a good guy just living his life and all. But at the end I realised his life wasn't an easy one. He would have to set an alarm every 3 hours so he could pee, he was scared of chewing food so he never even tasted a pie. And he's condition was never a superhero ability as I thought earlier but a condition that could cost him his life . I would rate this movie a 7.5 out of ten. Its a good one.

Now I wonder would Nathan Caine have tried saving Sherry if he could actually feel pain?.
