Greetings!

After the long, seemingly endless wait, Daryl Dixon [Book of Carol] Season 2, a spin-off of The Walking Dead, finally premiered on the 29th of September, this past Sunday. I must say, it’s a show I have long anticipated, especially after seeing its trailer at the end of Season 1.

I’m not sure how easy it will be for me to follow up with the episodes as they drop, given AMC’s usual release pattern. What I mean is that it often takes time to release new episodes, and I’m a very impatient person. Lol.

The plot:

Right from the teaser at the end of Season 1, it was shown that Carol would go out looking for Daryl, who had left and promised to return. So, the season begins with Carol trailing Daryl. Fortunately, she locates the camp where Daryl’s bike is being used by the people there, and she also finds Daryl’s bow.

However, when she asks them about Daryl’s whereabouts, they didn't give her the response she wants. In her anger, she shoots one of them in the leg. After much confrontation, they tell her that Daryl was thrown onto a boat heading to France. That’s where the tough journey kicks off, especially since there’s no boat to cross the vast sea, nor is there an airplane available to fly her to France.

But luck is on her side when she encounters Ash, who is flying a small airplane over his domain. Ash eventually agrees to fly her to France to help her find her “daughter.”

The most intriguing part was Sophia’s reappearance in this season. When Carol gets to Ash’s farm, the barn reminds her a lot of her late daughter, whose death triggered major troubles for the group in the earlier seasons.

According to what was said, the scene where Sophia reappears wasn’t taken from the early episodes but was recreated from scratch, with another actress playing Sophia, since, of course, the original actress has grown up and couldn’t reprise the role for that scene anymore. I had to rewatch that particular scene to check if it was true, and indeed, they did an impressive job making it look like the original.

I wanted Carol to tell Ash the truth, that she was going to France to look for her friend Daryl, rather than claiming she was going to find her daughter in France. I hate lies!

In France, the battle between Daryl’s group and Genet’s group seems never-ending. Instead of Daryl finding a way back to the Commonwealth (America), he decides to join them in the fight against Genet.

Ohhh! Is this a spoiler? Sorry about that, but the show is just too good not to talk about a little.

It’s so frustrating that I’ll have to wait weeks or even months to watch the next episodes. I would rate this episode 9/10, especially with Carol’s impact.
