Sweet Home season 2 & 3

I finished watching Sweet Home season 2 and 3, and I must say I enjoyed season 1 more. I sensed that the story was going to deviate into a more complex direction immediately after finishing season one, and when the introduction of new characters began in season two, I simply shook my head with a skeptical mindset, wondering whether to continue or not.

That said, both season 2 and 3 are not bad. The storyline was carried through properly; it is just the soldier-focused lifestyle and the complexity of the monster lifestyle that spoiled it for me personally.

After season 1 ended, the survivors in Green Home were rescued by a group of soldiers and taken to a refugee camp. However, on their way, they were attacked by monsters.

Cha Hyun-su is still unkillable, and there was a scene where one of his kind, a special infectee who took the face of one of the killed Green Home occupants, attacked him. They began to fight wildly, causing massive havoc with their supernatural powers. Meanwhile, the soldiers were trying to restrain them, but they could not.

Gosh, season 2 is filled with soldier survival life and barely talked about the monsters or how people got infected, which was what I was really hoping to get answers to.

The worst part comes in season three when Seo Yi-kyung gave birth to a monster, even though she herself was not a monster. At this point, I already knew the movie had deviated into a more fictional and unrelatable script. The girl grew up into a teenager and had the power to turn someone into a monster by merely touching them with her hand. In addition to that, she also had the ability to control the monsters she produced. Is that not strange? In the same season three, death happened to special infectees who were previously unkillable. Even when they died, they would come back to life, as seen in seasons 1 and 2.

Aside from these issues, I must commend the blending of the script. Although some scenarios were predictable, there was suspense that constantly threw the mind off balance and made one crave more, episode after episode.

The character development was top-notch, and the one that stood out the most for me was Lee Eun-yu. This girl, who was nonchalant in season one, became one of the strongest human survivors in the series. She mastered her role very well, even though most of the character’s actions were annoying. However, that annoyance is what made the character classic as well.

Why is it that virus movies don't always have a cure at the end of the series or movie? The same thing happened here. There was no actual cure for the infection that turned people into monsters. It is just that, at the end, there was an introduction of Neohumans, who lived in the midst of humans and monsters.

I would rate season 2 & 3, a 6/10.

Thanks for reading

I saw this series a while ago and the truth is that even though I don't really like the science fiction genre, this series had something that managed to captivate me somehow.

I liked that at least in this series there was an evolution of humanity and not just destruction. I still think the Webtoon is better, but the series did a good job
