¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, si llevan tiempo leyendo mis reseñas sabrán que mi género favorito por excelencia es el romance, incluyendo las comedias románticas en este gran grupo, y sabrán también que últimamente considero que no se están realizando producciones decenes en este género, muchas de ellas prometen ser la nueva sensación de las RomCom y terminan siendo historias vacías en donde ni me creo el romance y ni me da risa la comedia, por lo que he decidido irme al repertorio de clásicos que no he visto para alimentar mi alma romantica, es por esa razón que hoy hablaremos de esta película del 2003: Realmente Amor.

Nos encontramos a cinco semanas de Nochebuena, siguiendo la vida de varias parejas muy diferentes, las cuales están por encontrar el amor y otras por enfrentarse a obstáculos en sus actuales relaciones. Tenemos así a un primer ministro de Inglaterra que lucha con la idea de lo escandaloso que sería mantener una relación sentimental con su actual asistente; un mejor amigo que está enamorado de la prometida/esposa de su amigo; un niño que ha perdido a su mamá pero que además está enamorado de una compañera de clases y solo cuenta con la ayuda de su padrastro para conquistarla; una pareja de casados que enfrentan la presencia de una tercera en discordia; una chica cuyo único familiar vivo es su hermano que se encuentra en un psiquiátrico y por el que ignora las relaciones amorosas; una ex estrella de rock que intenta resurgir ahora con música navideña; y un escritor que se enamora de su asistente del hogar que solo habla portugues y con quien no se puede comunicar.
We are five weeks away from Christmas Eve, following the lives of several very different couples, some about to find love and others facing obstacles in their current relationships. We have a Prime Minister of England struggling with the idea of how scandalous it would be to have a romantic relationship with his current assistant; a best friend who is in love with his friend's fiancée/wife; a boy who has lost his mother but is also in love with a classmate and only has the help of his stepfather to win her over; a married couple facing the presence of a third party in discord; a girl whose only living relative is her brother who is in a mental institution and for whom she ignores love relationships; a former rock star who tries to resurface now with Christmas music; and a writer who falls in love with his home assistant who only speaks Portuguese and with whom he cannot communicate.

Siento que en la primera década de los años 2000 se implementó varias veces este concepto de contar varias historias en una misma película, no entiendo bien si era para reunir un cast amplio de famosos de la época y medio asegurar el éxito de la producción, o simplemente para contar varias historias sin tener la necesidad de hacer varias películas, sea cual sea el motivo yo personalmente pienso que no todo el tiempo este formato funciona.
I feel that in the first decade of the 2000s this concept of telling several stories in the same film was implemented several times, I don't quite understand if it was to gather a large cast of celebrities of the time and half ensure the success of the production, or simply to tell several stories without having the need to make several films, whatever the reason I personally think that not all the time this format works.
Para empezar este tipo de películas suelen ser bastante largas, todas las que conozco duran alrededor de las 2 horas, y lo entiendo porque justamente requieres de tiempo para poder desarrollar todas las tramas que genera la película, necesitas que el público al menos conecte con una pareja o incluso con todas, y para eso obviamente requieren de un buen desarrollo y de suficiente tiempo en pantalla para todos.
To begin with, this kind of films tend to be quite long, all the ones I know are around 2 hours long, and I understand that because you need time to develop all the plots that the film generates, you need the audience to connect with at least one couple or even all of them, and for that you obviously need a good development and enough screen time for everyone.
¿Pero por qué considero que no siempre este formato funciona?, pues justamente por los puntos débiles de esta película, el cual es principalmente que tienen muchas parejas o mejor dicho muchas historias que desarrollar, y eso trae consigo que pases de un personaje a otro sin terminar de darle profundidad al anterior, o que algunos tengan más tiempo en pantalla que otros, trayendo consigo que al final de la película haya historias que se sientan vacías o sin culminación.
But why do I think that this format doesn't always work, precisely because of the weak points of this film, which is mainly that they have many couples or rather many stories to develop, and that means that you go from one character to another without giving depth to the previous one, or that some have more time on screen than others, which means that at the end of the film there are stories that feel empty or without culmination.
Un ejemplo claro de esto lo tenemos con dos historias en concreto, en primer lugar con los personajes de Mark, Juliet y Peter, aquí Mark y Peter son amigos y Juliet es la prometida/esposa de Peter pero lo que ellos no saben es que Mark tiene sentimientos por Juliet (la esposa de su amigo), sentimientos que ella descubre y nunca los habla ni con él ni con su esposo, sin embargo Mark le confiesa su amor en navidad sin intenciones de ser correspondido, y esto es todo lo que sabemos de esta historia, no se dice más nada ni se desarrolla de ninguna manera porque la verdad es que puede llegar a ser una trama compleja que no daba tiempo de profundizar.
A clear example of this we have with two stories in particular, firstly with the characters of Mark, Juliet and Peter, here Mark and Peter are friends and Juliet is Peter's fiancée/wife but what they don't know is that Mark has feelings for Juliet (his friend's wife), feelings that she discovers and never talks about with him or her husband, however Mark confesses his love to her at Christmas with no intention of being reciprocated, and this is all we know of this story, nothing more is said or developed in any way because the truth is that it can become a complex plot that did not give time to deepen.
Y algo similar ocurre con Karen, Harry y Mia, los dos primeros son esposos y Mia es la tercera en discordia, a lo largo de la película nos plantea una historia de posible infidelidad, y debo aplaudir de pie a la actuación de Emma Thompson en el papel de Karen porque lo que hace para reflejar la frustración y resignación de una mujer casada que hace todo por el bienestar de su familia es sencillamente asombroso, lastima que nuevamente tenemos una trama interesante que no pudo contar con la adecuada profundización y queda un poco ambigua, no se si al final dan a entender que efectivamente él si le fue infiel o si solo contempló la idea de serlo (aunque para mi es claro que hubo infidelidad emocional), o si se separaron o no porque vuelvo y repito no se desarollar bien esa trama.
And something similar happens with Karen, Harry and Mia, the first two are husbands and Mia is the third in discord, throughout the film we are presented with a story of possible infidelity, and I must applaud Emma Thompson's performance in the role of Karen because what she does to reflect the frustration and resignation of a married woman who does everything for the welfare of her family is simply amazing, It's a pity that once again we have an interesting plot that couldn't have the right depth and is a bit ambiguous, I don't know if at the end they imply that he was indeed unfaithful or if he only contemplated the idea of being unfaithful (although for me it's clear that there was emotional infidelity), or if they separated or not because again and I repeat they didn't develop that plot well.
Y de esta forma ocurre con otras historias más que ni vale la pena mencionar porque quedaron muy por debajo de la mesa, para mi las que más resaltan y que creo eran las principales de esta película son la trama del primer ministro, la del niño con su padrastro y la del escritor, dentro del caos que hubo entre los distintos personajes siento que estas tres historias fueron las que tuvieron un mejor desarrollo, no el esperado pero al menos más decente que el resto. No voy a hablar de la rapidez con la que los personajes se enamoran (al punto de pedir matrimonio algunos) porque soy consciente que eso es parte de la fantasía de la película, pero sí quiero destacar que hay elementos de comedia que sencillamente pudieron omitir por completo porque al final ni siquiera tienen sentido con la película.
And in the same way happens with other stories that are not worth mentioning because they were very under the table, for me the ones that stand out the most and that I think were the main ones of this film are the plot of the prime minister, the boy with his stepfather and the writer, within the chaos between the different characters I feel that these three stories were the ones that had a better development, not the expected but at least more decent than the rest. I'm not going to talk about the speed with which the characters fall in love (to the point of asking for marriage for some of them) because I am aware that this is part of the fantasy of the film, but I do want to point out that there are elements of comedy that they simply could have omitted completely because in the end they don't even make sense with the film.

También me gustan mucho las películas románticas, si tengo tiempo la veo el fin de semana, saludos.
Esta es por lejos i película navideña favorita, amé todas las historias, todas ellas muy realistas, la actuación de Emma Thompson y de mi gran amado Alan Rickman como siempre estuvieron brillantes. Gracias por traer esta joya con tu hermosa reseña. Particularmente yo sí estoy satisfecha con todas las historias, me parece que cerraron bien, es más que obvio que Mark y Julieth no llegaron a nada más porque ella ama a su esposo, por eso se casó con él, en cuanto a Karen y Harry es obvio que hubo infidelidad y desde luego separación, solo que no lo harían publico en plena navidad. Lo que sucede es que a veces las historias no solo se cuentan a través del guion sino a través de otros elementos más sutiles, no todo lo dicen los personajes con palabras, hay gestos y miradas que expresan emociones, hay planos de cámara que pueden decir mucho también, el cine es muy subjetivo como el arte en sí.
