¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, últimamente ando viendo muchos videos de reseñas de películas porque he encontrado que se me está haciendo difícil disponer de tiempo para dedicarselo a películas o series, y realmente no se trata de falta de tiempo sino de falta de ganas, es bastante extraño la verdad. Aún así, ver tantas reseñas, las cuales han sido en gran parte de películas de disney, me hizo conectar con un pensamiento: ¿Por qué no he visto la versión francesa de la Bella y la Bestia?, la verdad no le encontré respuesta a esa pregunta por lo que inmediatamente me fuí a ver esa película, y la verdad tengo un par de cosas que decir 🤣, así que por eso hoy hablaremos de La Bella y la Bestia (2014) 🌹.
Hello Hello Community! ✨, Lately I've been watching a lot of movie review videos because I've found that I'm having a hard time finding the time to dedicate to movies or series, and it's not really a lack of time but a lack of desire, it's quite strange really. Still, seeing so many reviews, which have largely been of disney movies, made me connect with a thought: Why haven't I seen the French version of Beauty and the Beast, I didn't really find an answer to that question so I immediately went to see that movie, and I actually have a couple of things to say 🤣, so that's why today we'll talk about Beauty and the Beast (2014) 🌹.
🌹 SINOPSIS || SYNOPSIS 🌹
Bella es la hija menor de una rico mercader, el cual tras un trágico naufragio pierde sus barcos repletos de mercancía y por ende también su dinero, por lo que ahora se ve obligado a irse al campo con sus 6 hijos. Una noche, luego de viajar bajo una fuerte tormenta de nieve, llega a un misterioso castillo presuntamente abandonado, en donde logra comer un poco y recuperarse del difícil viaje, para ese momento el padre de Bella desconocía que se encontraba en la guarida de la Bestia, y aunque éste permitió que el mercader descansara un poco y se llevara algunos objetos que necesitaba, no tuvo clemencia cuando intentó robar una de las rosas de su jardín para llevársela a su pequeña Bella, por lo que la Bestia lo condena a muerte, no sin antes permitirle que se despida de su familia. Cuando Bella se entera de ésto, decide sacrificar su vida a cambio de la de su padre, convirtiéndose así en cautiva de la Bestia.
Bella is the youngest daughter of a rich merchant, who after a tragic shipwreck loses his ships full of merchandise and therefore also his money, so now he is forced to go to the countryside with his 6 children. One night, after traveling under a heavy snowstorm, he arrives at a mysterious castle presumably abandoned, where he manages to eat a little and recover from the difficult journey, by that time Bella's father was unaware that he was in the lair of the Beast, and although he allowed the merchant to rest a little and take some objects he needed, he showed no mercy when he tried to steal one of the roses from his garden to take it to his little Bella, so the Beast condemns him to death, but not before allowing him to say goodbye to his family. When Bella learns of this, she decides to sacrifice her life in exchange for her father's, thus becoming the Beast's captive.
🌹 UNA VIDA POR UNA ROSA || A LIFE FOR A ROSE 🌹
No voy a comparar ésta película con el Live Action de Disney, porque para empezar yo esa película la ví una sola vez cuando se estrenó y de ahí no la he vuelto a repetir, así que no me acuerdo de nada de lo que ocurre 🤣, tampoco conozco el cuento original de ésta historia así que no haré comparaciones por ese lado, solo sé que en líneas generales (al menos en el comienzo) sí guarda similitudes, ¿En qué sentido?, bueno en ésta película Bella es la hija menor y la favorita del papá, por lo que sus hermanas no le guardan mucho cariño aparte que ellas son bastante vanidosa, algo que nos dejan en claro que Bella no es, sino que es más una chica que disfruta del campo, cuando su padre emprende éste viaje a la ciudad donde presuntamente va a recuperar uno de sus barcos y por ende la mercancía, sus hijas le dan una lista de algunas cosas que quieren que este les traiga, excepción Bella quien solo le pide una rosa.
Y aunque parece un regalo sencillo y hasta con poco valor comparado a la enorme lista que dan sus hermanas, es justamente ésta rosa la que hace que todo salga mal, y la pieza principal de toda ésta historia. Creo que hasta ahí se respeta la historia original, pero igual no confíen demasiado en lo que digo 🤣.
I'm not going to compare this film with Disney's Live Action, because to begin with I saw that film only once when it was released and since then I haven't seen it again, so I don't remember anything of what happens 🤣, I don't know the original tale of this story either so I won't make comparisons on that side, I only know that in general (at least in the beginning) it has similarities, in what sense? Well in this film Bella is the youngest daughter and her father's favourite, so her sisters are not very fond of her and they are quite vain, something that makes it clear that Bella is not, she is more a girl who enjoys the countryside, when her father undertakes this trip to the city where he is supposed to recover one of his ships and therefore the merchandise, his daughters give him a list of some things they want him to bring them, except Bella who only asks him for a rose.
And although it seems a simple gift and even with little value compared to the huge list that her sisters give, it is precisely this rose that makes everything go wrong, and the main piece of this whole story. I think that up to that point the original story is respected, but don't trust too much in what I say 🤣.
Estéticamente la película es preciosa, toda la puesta en escena guarda mucho esa elegancia característica de las producciones francesas, no solo los interiores sino también los paisajes, el castillo en el que se refugia la Bestia no solo es deslumbrante por su grandeza y ese aire de riqueza que desprende, sino que también se siente solo y sumamente sombrío, reflejando así como se siente su dueño. Hay muchísimos elementos mágicos, desafortunadamente aquí no tenemos a los objetos de la casa parlantes 🤣, pero aún así la magia se hace sentir, comenzando por el hecho de que el castillo no está al acceso de nadie, está mágicamente oculto en el bosque por una razón que se los explica en la película.
Un aspecto creativo que me gusta de la película es la manera en como empieza, con la voz de una mujer “misteriosa” que le está contando ésta historia a unos niños, y no es un elemento que solo queda en el inicio, sino que se repite en otras oportunidades de la película y es así como termina, revelando quién era la mujer.
Aesthetically the film is beautiful, the whole mise-en-scene keeps a lot of that elegance characteristic of French productions, not only the interiors but also the landscapes, the castle in which the Beast takes refuge is not only dazzling for its grandeur and that air of wealth it gives off, but it also feels lonely and extremely gloomy, reflecting how its owner feels. There are a lot of magical elements, unfortunately here we don't have the talking house objects 🤣, but still the magic is felt, starting with the fact that the castle is not accessible to anyone, it is magically hidden in the forest for a reason that is explained in the film.
A creative aspect that I like about the film is the way it starts, with the voice of a ‘mysterious’ woman telling this story to some children, and it is not an element that is only in the beginning, but it is repeated at other times in the film and that is how it ends, revealing who the woman was.
El vestuario es otro aspecto que me encantó, sobre todo el de Bella, son vestidos dignos de la realeza con colores vibrantes, que dentro del palacio son perfectos, pero que cuando se ven fuera de él es decir alejados de éste mundo de realeza y magia, desentonan un poco o mejor dicho resaltan demasiado dejando ver como ella de alguna manera viene de un lugar que no parece ser real.
He de admitir que la historia es muy Dark Romamce, lo cual a mí no me molesta, pero sé que no es para todos, ¿por qué digo ésto?, pues porque aquí la Bestia es literalmente muy bestia, le prohíbe cosas a Bella, la viste como él quiere, la trata con rudeza, casi que la obliga a comer, o sea son muchos elementos que te dan a entender que él es quien manda y que ella es prácticamente una muñequita a su disposición. Yo personalmente no ví el romance en ningún lugar, en un momento tenemos a Bella diciéndole que lo odia y un par de escenas después ella está aparentemente enamorada, lo cual sé que puede pasar porque lo he leído y visto un montón de veces en películas, pero aquí no hay una transición real de ese odio al amor, ésto es puro síndrome de Estocolmo.
The costumes are another aspect that I loved, especially Bella's, they are dresses worthy of royalty with vibrant colours, that inside the palace are perfect, but when seen outside of it, that is to say far from this world of royalty and magic, they stand out a bit or rather stand out too much letting us see how she somehow comes from a place that doesn't seem to be real.
I have to admit that the story is very Dark Romance, which doesn't bother me, but I know it's not for everyone, why do I say this, because here the Beast is literally very beastly, he forbids things to Bella, he dresses her as he wants, he treats her rudely, he almost forces her to eat, there are many elements that give you to understand that he is in charge and that she is practically a doll at his disposal. I personally didn't see the romance anywhere, at one point we have Bella telling him that she hates him and a couple of scenes later she is apparently in love, which I know can happen because I've read and seen it a lot of times in movies, but here there is no real transition from hate to love, this is pure Stockholm syndrome.
Ahora bien, hablemos de la Bestia y la razón por la que representa todo lo que no me gustó de esta película, para empezar es una Bestia muy fea 🤣, o sea su diseño de traje es feo, la estructura de su cabeza y ojos es rara, siento que no había una composición armónica en las partes de su cuerpo, de verdad era una estructura rara y si hubiese sido una película estéticamente cuestionable no me importaría, pero no lo es, habían excelentes vestuarios y escenografías, y por eso no puedo dejar pasar éste detalle. Aparte su historia y la forma en como terminó siendo una bestia no me gustó, al principio estaba muy intrigada porque nos van introduciendo poco a poco en su relato de una manera interesante, pero cuando descubrí cómo acabó siendo lo que es, me decepcioné.
Yo esperaba que fuese la historia del hijo de los personajes que nos estaban presentando, en un punto hasta se menciona un embarazo, y al final no resultó siendo así lo que me lleva a pensar que realmente no hay romance, y que la Bestia se conformó con una segunda oportunidad, aparte ¿Cuál era el aprendizaje al que debía llegar?,¿Para qué lo convirtieron en bestia?,¿Qué pasó con su castillo?, nada de eso tiene respuesta y me disgusta. Es una película sin un mensaje, que no está mal, pero tratándose de la historia que es, no tener un mensaje la deja también sin un propósito de ser.
Now, let's talk about the Beast and the reason why he represents everything I didn't like about this movie, to start with he is a very ugly Beast 🤣, I mean his costume design is ugly, the structure of his head and eyes is weird, I feel that there was no harmonic composition in his body parts, it really was a weird structure and if it had been an aesthetically questionable movie I wouldn't care, but it is not, there were excellent costumes and scenery, and that's why I can't let this detail go. Apart from its story and the way it ended up being a beast I didn't like it, at the beginning I was very intrigued because we are introduced little by little in its story in an interesting way, but when I found out how it ended up being what it is, I was disappointed.
I was expecting it to be the story of the child of the characters we were being introduced to, at one point it even mentions a pregnancy, and in the end it didn't turn out that way which leads me to think that there really is no romance, and that the Beast settled for a second chance, apart from what was the apprenticeship he was supposed to get, why was he turned into a beast, what happened to his castle, none of that is answered and I dislike it. It is a film without a message, which is not bad, but being the story that it is, not having a message also leaves it without a purpose of being.
