I Watched the Godzilla -0.0 Trailer, and It Made Me Feel Many Things.
I watched the trailer for Godzilla -0.0, which is coming out this November. I haven't watched a Godzilla movie for many years. When I was a child, I really enjoyed the series. I will never forget Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I even remember the dates and the exact time when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. However, until I researched the topic again, I had completely forgotten the story of the Lucky Dragon No. 5.
In the original movie, Godzilla is awakened and mutated by nuclear testing. The terrifying monster represents the dangers of nuclear weapons, radiation, and humanity's misuse of science. I think this concept had an impact on many people.
Over time, Godzilla evolved from a terrifying destroyer into a protector in some of the later films. Although the series continued to remind audiences of the importance of peace and the devastating consequences of nuclear war. Some of the movies became more comical and focused on Godzilla as a character. As a result, I gradually lost interest.
However, this new movie, which will be released this autumn, has made me interested in the original concept again. The trailer features many scenes set during World War II, and several popular actors appear in the film.
When I heard Godzilla's roar once again, it reminded me of the sadness I had always felt in the creature's cry. I hope this movie will send us a powerful message about peace and the importance of preventing war, especially in light of today's world and the continuing risk of nuclear conflict.

今年１１月に公開される映画『ゴジラ-０.０』の新作の予告編を観ました。そういえば、もう何年もゴジラ映画を観ていません。子どもの頃は、ゴジラシリーズが好きでよく観ていたのですが、いつの間にかシリーズから離れてしまっていました。でも、今回の新しい予告編には心をつかまれ、ゴジラ本来の深いコンセプトに戻った作品なのではないかと感じました。今年の秋には、ぜひ観たいと思っています。
私のゴジラに関する知識はごく一般的で、それほど詳しいわけではありません。そこで今回、改めて調べてみました。ゴジラは１９５４年の日本映画ゴジラで初めて登場したそうsです。このキャラクターは、第二次世界大戦後の核兵器への恐怖と、その破壊力を象徴する存在として生み出されました。そのことは、子どもの頃の私にも強い印象を与えていました。
特に、あの有名なゴジラの叫び声を聞くたびに、私はなぜか悲しい気持ちになっていました。理由は自分でもよくわかりませんが、まるでゴジラが人間が犯した罪に対して泣き叫んでいるように感じていたのです。でも、その頃の自分は、そういった気持ちを言葉にすることができませんでした。
日本には、ゴジラのキャラクターが大好きで、フィギュアなどを集めている熱狂的なファンがたくさんいます。私はフィギュアを集めることにはあまり興味はありませんでしたが、ゴジラがどのような背景や思いから生まれたのか、その本来のコンセプトにはずっと興味があります。
１９４５年、アメリカは広島と長崎に原子爆弾を投下し、多くの命が失われ、街は壊滅的な被害を受けました。そして１９５４年には、日本の漁船「第五福竜丸」がアメリカの水爆実験による放射性降下物を浴びるという事件が起こり、この出来事がゴジラ誕生のきっかけのひとつとなったらしいです。広島と長崎のことを決して忘れることはありません。原爆が投下された日付はもちろん、広島に投下された時刻まで覚えています。でも、今回改めて調べるまで、第五福竜丸の出来事についてはすっかり忘れていました。
初代ゴジラでは、ゴジラは核実験によって目覚め、放射能の影響で巨大化した怪獣として描かれています。この恐ろしい怪獣は、核兵器や放射能の危険性、そして人類が科学や技術を誤って利用することへの警鐘を象徴しています。このコンセプトは、多くの人々に大きな衝撃を与えたのだと思います。
その後、ゴジラは作品によっては人類を守る存在として描かれるようになりました。シリーズを通して平和の大切さや核戦争の恐ろしさを伝え続けてきた一方で、次第にコミカルな作品やキャラクター性を前面に押し出した作品も増えてきたような感じがして、私はしばらくゴジラから離れてしまいました。
ところが、この秋に公開される新作の予告編を観て、私はゴジラ本来のコンセプトに興味を持つようになりました。予告編には第二次世界大戦中を思わせる場面が数多く登場し、有名な俳優さんたちも出演しています。
予告編で再びゴジラの叫び声を聞いたとき、私は子どもの頃に感じていた、あの悲しみを思い出しました。今回の作品が、現代社会が抱える核戦争の危険性にも目を向けながら、平和や反戦の大切さを伝える、深いメッセージを持った映画であることを願っています。

ところで、このゴジラの画像はAIで作成しました。なかなか良い仕上がりになったと思っています。まさに私が思い描くゴジラの姿にかなり近いです。深い悲しみを抱えながら、魂の叫びをあげているゴジラの姿に見えます。
