It's A Wonderful Life! -Subarashiki Kana Jinsei

I created this cut-paper art previously and decided to give it a new background this time. I digitally processed and generated AI to create a collage artwork by combining it with my original cut-paper art.

I began by crafting the cut-paper art and then added colourful paper from behind. I incorporated an aurora photo for the lady's hair and traditional Japanese artwork for the kimono. The kimono patterns were inspired by planet, cosmic, and space photos. I carefully selected images from old magazines.

The subject of the artwork is a Japanese Oiran lady, possibly a representation of one of my past lives. Despite facing challenges, she emanates strength. In her hand, she holds a katana (sword) and the narrative could be interpreted in various ways. Perhaps she is contemplating leaving to protect her village, seeking revenge for her family, passing her sword to someone, or more. The interpretation is left to the viewers' perspectives.

The title of this artwork is originally inspired by my favourite movie, 'It's A Wonderful Life,' released in 1946. James Stewart's portrayal in the film was incredibly cool. Despite being a heartwarming fantasy drama, the movie depicts the harsh realities of human life, something we confront almost constantly. It stands as a classic, beautiful film.

素晴らしき哉、人生！

この切り絵は以前作成したものです。今回は新たな背景を作りました。背景をAIで作りデジタル加工を施して、さらに切り絵とコラージュをしました。

カラフルな紙を切り絵の後ろにあてて色をつけました。女性の髪の毛にはオーロラの写真をあてました。彼女の着物には日本の伝統的なアートをつけました。着物の柄には惑星や宇宙の写真を使いました。古い雑誌からあらゆる写真をていねいに選びました。

この花魁の女性は、私の過去生かもしれません。彼女は困難に立ち向かう強い人です。彼女は手に刀を持っています。見る人によって意味あいが変わってくると思います。もしかすると、彼女は村を守るために旅立つのかもしれませんし、家族の仇打ちをするのかもしれませんし、誰かに刀を渡しているのかもしれません。他にも色々と見方があると思います。

作品のタイトルは元々、１９４６年の映画「素晴らしき哉、人生！」から影響を受けたものです。映画の中のジェームズ・ステュアートはとてもカッコ良かったです。心温まるファンタジードラマではありますが、人間の人生で常に困難と向き合うまさに私たちの人生そのものが描かれています。クラシックで美しい映画です。
