Hola, mis amigos. Que placer saludarlos a todos, en especial a los miembros de esta comunidad de amantes de las películas.
Hace unos meses trasmitieron este filme por la televisión cubana y puedo decirles que desde el principio hasta el final, me mantuvo con una gran angustia en el pecho. Enseguida supe que en algún momento le haría una reseña pero no iba a ser pronto porque necesitaba alejarme y tomar distancia de esa angustia para poder hablar y escribir.

A few months ago,this film was broadcast on Cuban television, and I can tell you that from beginning to end, it kept a great anguish in my chest. I immediately knew that at some point I would review it, but it wasn't going to be soon because I needed to step away and create distance from that anguish to be able to speak and write.
Este filme en una especie de Making off de como se crea un monstruo. El Hannibal de esta película es el mismo de "El silencio de los corderos", solo que aquí nos muestran las terribles tragedias de su infancia, que fueron el detonante de lo que se avecinaba en el futuro. Antes de que Anthony Hopkins lo encarnara con su peculiar sofisticación y terror psicológico, el Dr. Hannibal Lecter fue un niño. Hannibal: El origen del mal es un filme de 2007, dirigido por Peter Webber y basada en la novela de Thomas Harris.
This film is a kind of making-of about how a monster is created. The Hannibal in this movie is the same as in "The Silence of the Lambs," only here they show us the terrible tragedies of his childhood, which were the trigger for what was to come in the future. Before Anthony Hopkins embodied him with his peculiar sophistication and psychological terror, Dr. Hannibal Lecter was a child. "Hannibal Rising" is a 2007 film directed by Peter Webber and based on the novel by Thomas Harris.
La película no es una simple "primera parte" de "El silencio de los corderos", sino más bien un drama de guerra y traumas, que intenta hacer un mapa sobre la verdadera génesis del mal. La historia nos transporta a la Lituania en plena Segunda Guerra Mundial.
El pequeño Hannibal es un niño feliz que vive una maravillosa infancia en el castillo de su familia, cosa que se transforma brutalmente con la invasión nazi. En una escena cruel y desgarradora, es testigo de la muerte de sus padres y, lo que es más traumático, de la canibalización de su amada hermana menor, Mischa.
The film is not a simple "first part" of "The Silence of the Lambs," but rather a war and trauma drama that attempts to map the true genesis of evil. The story transports us to Lithuania during the Second World War.
Young Hannibal is a happy child living a wonderful childhood in his family's castle, which is brutally transformed by the Nazi invasion. In a cruel and heart-wrenching scene, he witnesses the death of his parents and, what is more traumatic, the cannibalization of his beloved younger sister, Mischa.
Este increible suceso, es el núcleo de todo su dolor, su futuro patológico y queda grabado como fuego en su mente. La película gira alrededor de este trauma, mostrando cómo Hannibal, años después, busca venganza y, en el proceso, descubre su oscura vocación de asesino. Después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, Hannibal termina en un orfanato soviético y luego es adoptado por su tío Robert Lecter y su esposa, la japonesa Lady Murasaki de quien Hannibal se enamora. Es ella quien inicia su educación culta y de etiqueta que definirán la parte visible de su personalidad.
This incredible event is the core of all his pain,his future pathology, and is etched like fire in his mind. The film revolves around this trauma, showing how Hannibal, years later, seeks revenge and, in the process, discovers his dark vocation as a killer. After the Second World War, Hannibal ends up in a Soviet orphanage and is later adopted by his uncle Robert Lecter and his wife, the Japanese Lady Murasaki, with whom Hannibal falls in love. It is she who begins his education in culture and etiquette, which will define the visible part of his personality.
El actor francés Gaspard Ulliel es quien interpreta a Hannibal adolescente, joven y adulto. Su interpretación es la columna vertebral de la cinta. Ulliel no intenta imitar a Hopkins sino que construye su propia versión: un joven elegante, inteligente y herido, cuya cortesía es una máscara que oculta un abismo de rabia y dolor. Centrar el filme en su humanidad fracturada fue un gran acierto.
Aquí vemos a un joven que busca desesperadamente reconstruir su pasado en busca de aquellos hombres y, al hacerlo, sus preceptos morales se van rompiendo uno por uno. La escena en la que prueba hígado humano por primera vez, no con asco, sino con una curiosidad casi científica y hasta con algo de placer, es un momento clave magistralmente actuado.
French actor Gaspard Ulliel plays the adolescent, young, and adult Hannibal. His performance is the backbone of the film. Ulliel does not attempt to imitate Hopkins but builds his own version: an elegant, intelligent, and wounded young man whose courtesy is a mask hiding an abyss of rage and pain. Centering the film on his fractured humanity was a great success.
Here we see a young man desperately trying to reconstruct his past in search of those men, and in doing so, his moral precepts break one by one. The scene in which he tastes human liver for the first time, not with disgust but with an almost scientific curiosity and even some pleasure, is a key moment, masterfully acted.
La película recrea una atmósfera oscura, creando un entorno gótico y opresivo que refleja la mente y el alma del protagonista. La elegancia visual contrasta con la brutalidad de los actos. Que un niño vea como unos hombres desalmados se comen a su hermanita como si fueran pedazo de carne de cerdo o cordero, fue algo que no imaginaba ver. Incluso, en una parte del filme, cuando ya el personaje protagónico es un hombre, un hombre le dice que el también comió de su hermana el caldo que hicieron con ella, que si quería matar a todos los que hicieron eso por qué no se mataba también.
The film recreates a dark atmosphere, creating a gothic and oppressive environment that reflects the mind and soul of the protagonist. The visual elegance contrasts with the brutality of the acts. The idea of a child seeing heartless men eat his little sister as if she were a piece of pork or lamb was something I never imagined seeing. Even in one part of the film, when the main character is already a man, a man tells him that he also ate the broth made from his sister, asking why he didn't kill himself too if he wanted to kill everyone who did that.
Creo que uno de los mayores debates que puede provocar este filme es si es mejor dejar al mal sin explicar. Al mostrar el trauma que le causó al protagonista la horrible muerte de Mischa, la película ofrece una causa-efecto quizás demasiado literal. ¿Empobrece esto el misterio del Hannibal de Hopkins? Es una cuestión de gusto supongo. La película no justifica ni jusga sus actos, simplemente nos muestra que el monstruo no nace, se hace.
"Hannibal: El origen del mal" , a mi entender, es una pelicula valiente que logra ser una pieza fascinante por derecho propio. Es un drama trágico y visceral sobre la pérdida de la inocencia y el nacimiento de una leyenda del horror. Gaspard Ulliel nos regala una actuación que capta la esencia del personaje: un caballero educado cuyo corazón, devorado por el pasado, ha dejado espacio para algo mucho más oscuro.
Una película imprescindible para los que deseen asomarse, con cautela, al abismo que formó a Hannibal Lecter, uno de los asesinos más grande de la historia.
I think one of the biggest debates this film can provoke is whether it's better to leave evil unexplained.By showing the trauma caused to the protagonist by Mischa's horrible death, the film offers a cause-and-effect that is perhaps too literal. Does this diminish the mystery of Hopkins' Hannibal? It's a matter of taste, I suppose. The film does not justify or judge his actions; it simply shows us that the monster is not born but made.
"Hannibal Rising," in my opinion, is a brave film that manages to be a fascinating piece in its own right. It is a tragic and visceral drama about the loss of innocence and the birth of a horror legend. Gaspard Ulliel delivers a performance that captures the essence of the character: an educated gentleman whose heart, devoured by the past, has made room for something much darker.
An essential film for those who wish to cautiously peer into the abyss that formed Hannibal Lecter, one of the greatest killers in history.

Es una excelente y profunda aproximación a las verdades detrás de este filme. Gracias por traernos tu visión al respecto
Recuerdo haber visto esta película más veces que la misma del Silencio de los Corderos. En aquel entonces no conocía mucho sobre el mismo personaje de Hannibal, pero la película en sí me impresionó bastante por lo cruda y oscura que es en muchos sentidos.
