My unexpected favourite

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

I have watched many good movies. Like a lot, that it is almost difficult to pick just one as my favourite. Just like going to a mall and being told that I can only take one dress home but I love so many of them. However, out of all my favourites, if I could only have one, it would be Attack on Titan.

The amusing part is; I, being one of many, thought at one stage that watching anime was childish. When I see someone watching an anime, I would ask them how can they take a cartoon that seriously. I would also always say that nothing can ever convince me to start watching or like anime. I could not understand the concepts behind it. That was until when my sister managed to get me to watch Attack on Titan. Actually, she forced me, and didn't just convince me. I was not interested initially, but something like a threat came with it.

And that was the day things changed.

I realised anime was not what I thought it was from the first episode, I'm not even exaggerating. I can remember the way I just sat there shocked at how serious and emotional it was. I kept saying, "wait, this is anime?" The Plot was so deep, the tension so real and the characters so well written that I just couldn't stop watching. The way it got me hooked so fast was unbelievable to me.

Attack on Titan goes beyond simply providing entertainment. Everything from the action to the development of characters was brillant. One minute, I was cheering for a character, and the next, I am second guessing all the things I thought were true about the anime. The emotions, betrayals, sacrifices... there was a lot going on, but I just could not stop watching it.

I think that another thing that made me fall in love with show was that even with all the giants and fantasy, it still felt human. Every character had a reason for what they did. No one was purely good nor bad. And Eren, the main character... well, Eren's transformation broke and amazed me at the same time. In my experience, it is not often that a story portray a character that possess such complexity, that is, allowing me to both dislike and understand the character actions at the same time.

The animation, music, storytelling/plot, and again, the plot twists... everything about Attack on Titan is simply unforgettable. I can go on mentioning more good things about the anime. The episodes were much, but I would honestly not mind rewatching it again. I would accept immediately if someone even offered to delete my memory of the anime so that I could watch it again for the first time.

Even without that, I still plan to rewatch it. It was indeed a beautiful show. When I hear someone say now that anime is childish, I just smile knowing that I was there not long ago. Until Attack on Titan happened.

Attack on Titan is my favourite movie/anime (for those who wish to differentiate). It will take quite some time for me to forget about it and I probably would be discussing it for long as well.

This is my entry for indiaunited prompt for this week.
