[Movie] Hostage (2005)

I was flipping through YouTube looking for an interesting movie, with nothing particular in mind, though since I was alone I could pick whatever genres I actually like. So I took advantage of that.

At first all I had was a clickbait-y title, and I took the gamble. A few seconds in, the soundtrack convinced me the movie might be worth it. I wasn't entirely wrong.

! [SPOILER] It's the typical Bruce Willis movie where he's a tough cop with hard cases. In this one, his role was more delicate and more vital: a police negotiator.

While I was hoping for a thriller with more mystery, the film fully delivered on its actual promise: entertainment. It's not a movie meant to make you think, it has no real depth, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable for fans of the genre.

! [SPOILER] There's no mystery here, but there are plenty of bodies, two kidnapped families, and Bruce Willis carrying the full weight of saving their lives.

In the end, it's not cinema you'll remember, but it is cinema you can enjoy guilt-free — which sometimes is all you really ask of a movie.

Estaba haciendo zapping en YouTube buscando una película interesante, no tenía nada en mente, aunque como estaba sola podía elegir los géneros que más me gustan. Y lo aproveché.

Al inicio solo tenía un título clickbaitero y me jugué, a los pocos segundos la banda sonora me convenció de que la película podía valer la pena. No me equivoqué del todo.

! [SPOILER] Es la típica película de Bruce Willis en la que es un policía duro con casos difíciles. En este caso, su función era más delicada y vital: negociador de la policía.

Si bien esperaba un thriller con más misterio, la película cumplió a cabalidad su cometido: entretener. No es una película para pensar, no tiene profundidad, pero eso no la hace menos apta para los amantes del género.

! [SPOILER] No hay misterios pero sí muchos muertos, dos familias secuestradas, y Bruce Willis con toda la responsabilidad de salvar sus vidas.

En definitiva, no es cine para recordar, pero sí para pasar el rato sin culpa — que a veces es todo lo que uno le pide a una película.
