If you are looking for a visual masterpiece, I have to say that Gravity is at the top of my list. Its visual effects are simply breathtaking, and its story is equally as fascinating. While the plot and characterization are less than Interstellar, Gravity is visually stunning and leaves a lasting impression. Clooney and Bullock deliver strong performances, and the film's perils feel real and inspire chilling despair. Cuaron redefines the medium of filmmaking and Gravity is a testament to the human spirit.

First and foremost, the film is absolutely gorgeous. The special effects are simply amazing, and the movie is filled with breathtaking shots. Gravity's 3D technology is amazing, and the actors are superb. The film's powerful character arc and a strong musical score add to its visual appeal. Sandra Bullock's performance is especially impressive, and her performance as Dr. Ryan Stone makes the movie an Oscar contender. While there are moments when Clooney tries too hard to save the world, Bullock makes the movie a memorable experience.

Aside from its technical prowess, Gravity also explores the resilience of life and human evolution. After an initial exploration of space, Gravity ends with an allegory of the dawn of man. After crash landing, Ryan Stone fends off a frog and grasps some soil. Then, he gradually regains his ability to walk and stand. As he tries to regain his lost ability, he is repeatedly compared to early creatures in evolution.

As impressive as its visuals and the special effects are, Gravity also excels on its use of sound. There are moments of mass destruction in space, but there are also instances when the movie's characters are in complete silence. The sound design is brilliant, and it shows how much attention filmmakers have to give their films a high-quality soundscape. In fact, Gravity marks a major leap forward in the visual effects field.

Despite its modest budget of $80 million, Gravity looks better than most movies that have a double or triple that amount. While the story and characters are compelling, the visual effects are the best part of the film. "Gravity" is visually stunning, and also technically impressive. While it lacks the emotional punch of "Children of Men," it makes up for it by incorporating technological innovations and a lot of believable space sequences. The soaring visuals and stunning space scenes will leave you feeling as though you're in space while watching it.

Cuaron's "Gravity" opens with a 17-minute-long shot that sets up the story's characters in a vacuum. The length of this opening shot reveals a few things about the characters' lives. The long shots are some of the film's greatest achievements, and the director excels at creating awe and terror. Throughout the film, Cuaron demonstrates a unique ability to create awe and horror with his images.

As a director, Cuaron has been awarded the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for Gravity. In fact, Gravity is Cuaron's only film to win the Oscar for Best Cinematography. In spite of its many merits, Gravity falls short of his previous works. Cuaron previously worked with David Heyman, the director of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The film was produced in the United Kingdom, and the visual effects team at Framestore spent three years perfecting the film's breathtaking effects.

Though most of the film is shot on digital film, the Earth-set scene is shot on 65mm film to give it a more natural, organic look. The desert lake in the background represents Earth and gives the film an earthy tone. If you want to appreciate the visual beauty of Gravity, don't miss it. I hope you enjoy Gravity as much as I did.
