Even though I stopped being a kid several years ago, I still enjoy Disney movies. And today I want to show you a not so well known gem, but a very entertaining and touching adventure.
A pesar de que dejé de ser un niño hace varios años, aún disfruto las películas de Disney. Y Hoy quiero mostrarles una joya no tan conocida, pero que es una aventura muy entretenida y conmovedora.
🔹 INTRODUCTION / INTRODUCCIÓN 🔹
This story begins with a scene where a little Jim is reading a story with his mother. It is about a pirate who is famous and renowned for his exploits. The legend tells that there is a planet where he has his treasure of a thousand worlds.
Esta historia comienza con una escena donde un pequeño Jim está leyendo un cuento junto a su madre. Este trata sobre un pirata famoso y reconocido por sus hazañas. La leyenda cuenta que existe un planeta donde alberga su tesoro de mil mundos.
Then we jump forward 12 years and meet a teenage Jim. He became very troubled and conflicted, due to his father abandoning him as a child. He had to grow up without a father figure and with his mother working all the time.
Luego damos un salto en el tiempo de 12 años y nos encontramos a un Jim adolescente. Él se volvió alguien muy problemático y conflictivo, debido a que su padre lo abandonó de niño. Tuvo que crecer sin una figura paterna y con su madre trabajando todo el tiempo.
You could say that Jim was a hopeless case. Someone who caused nothing but trouble and headaches for the mother. To the point of being in conflict with the law. She was fed up and desperate because she doesn't want her son to waste his future.

Everything changes when a damaged ship crashes and a wounded pirate comes out of it. Jim helps him and takes him to the mother's restaurant to give him shelter. This pirate tells him that he was being chased by a cyborg and his band of assassins. Before dying, he gives him a map.

After that, they are attacked by those following the pirate. They destroy the restaurant and are forced to flee. Later Jim discovers that the map leads to the treasure planet. The same one mentioned in the story he read as a child.
Luego de eso, son atacados por los que seguían al pirata. Destruyen el restaurante y son obligados a huir. Más tarde Jim descubre que ese mapa lleva al planeta del tesoro. El mismo que se mencionaba en el cuento que leía cuando era niño.

The main objective of this film is for Jim to find the treasure planet so that he can rebuild his mother's inn and make her proud of him. He intends to prove that he is not a "failure".
El objetivo principal de esta película es que Jim encuentre el planeta del tesoro para poder reconstruir la posada de la madre y que ella sienta orgullosa de él. Pretende demostrar que no es un “fracasado”.
Basically, this is an adventure of pirates on ships. Where you travel the universe in search of a treasure longed for and desired by many.
Básicamente, esta es una aventura de piratas en barcos. Donde se recorre el universo en busca de un tesoro anhelado y deseado por muchos.

I have to say that the composers hit the nail on the head with the music. It perfectly reflects the adventurous tone of the film. Besides, Disney has always been known for its songs and here we can find one that for me enters the top 10 of the best.

Tengo que decir que los compositores dieron en el clavo con la música. Esta refleja a la perfección el tono aventurero de la película. Aparte, Disney siempre se caracterizó por sus canciones y aquí podemos encontrar una que para mí entra en el top 10 de las mejores.

Honestly, I love the 2D animation style and it's a shame that in this day and age it is so rarely used. Now it's more cost effective to resort to digital techniques to cut costs. Treasure Planet has beautiful animation in my opinion. And it has a technique that mixes 2D parts with 3D, which looks fantastic. For example, the robotic parts of the cyborg are animated in 3D and the body parts in 2D.
-ANIMACIÓN
Honestamente, me encanta el estilo de animación 2D y es una lástima que en esta época se utilice tan poco. Ahora es más rentable recurrir a técnicas digitales para abaratar costos. El planeta del tesoro tiene una animación hermosa en mi opinión. Y tiene una técnica que mezcla partes 2D con 3D, que queda fantástico. Por ejemplo, las partes robóticas del cíborg están animadas en 3D y el esto del cuerpo en 2D.
- STEAMPUNK STYLE
No voy a ser muy aburrido con la explicación. Básicamente, este estilo mezcla conceptos antiguos con futuristas. Por ejemplo, podemos ver un barco navegante por el espacio. A mí en lo personal, esto me encanta y me parece maravilloso.

- NOT ONLY FOR CHILDREN
Although obviously Disney is targeting a child audience. I feel this movie is more for teenagers. It deals with issues like growing up without a father, the pressure of not disappointing those who love you and living up to the expectations of what is expected of you.
- NO ES SOLO PARA NIÑOS
Aunque obviamente Disney está enfocado en un público infantil. Siento que esta película es más para adolescentes. Trata temas como crecer sin un padre, la presión de no decepcionar a quienes te aman y cumplir las expectativas de lo que se espera de ti.

It's a shame that this movie flopped on its release date. After 22 years it still amazes me that as good as it is, it grossed so little at the box office. If at least one person decides to see it after reading this post, I'll be satisfied.
Es una pena que esta película haya fracasado en su fecha de estreno. Después de 22 años me sigue sorprendiendo que con lo buena que es, haya recaudado tan poco en taquilla. Si al menos una persona decide verla después de leer este post, voy a estar satisfecho.
