Kcontest #18 // Let Learn Taekwondo
Korea is the one of the countries I love starting from their language, culture, food and all and If I could choose one of the Korean tradition, art, or skill to study or practice, it would be Taekwondo undoubtedly. You might be wondering why taekwondo and not embroidery since I'm a woman, well that is because it is the traditional Korean martial art known for its powerful kicks, it has dynamic movements, and philosophical underpinnings. Taekwondo is not just about physical combat, it is an art form that cultivates discipline, mental clarity, and respect and on top of it, it doesn't discriminate gender, once you have what it takes.
This martial art embodies principles of harmony between body and mind, and studying it could profoundly enrich my life and worldview and also serve as self protection against any bully. The physical benefits of Taekwondo are undeniable. It requires strength, flexibility, balance, and agility. The rigorous training in various stances, kicks, and forms can dramatically improve one’s physical condition, fostering better coordination and endurance and I think I really need it.
As someone who may occasionally feel disconnected from my physical self, engaging in an activity that emphasizes coordination and precise movement could create a deeper connection to both my body and mind.
I've watched many movies about taekwondo and I've seen that the true richness of Taekwondo extends beyond the physical to its mental and philosophical aspects, it teaches respect, respect for oneself, the instructor, fellow practitioners, and even opponents. This respect is demonstrated in the sparring aspect of the art, where participants are encouraged to engage with controlled strength and focus, not out of aggression but with a sense of discipline. This mindset fosters humility and emotional control and I think it could help me navigate the challenges in my own life with greater composure and a stronger moral compass.
The focus on personal growth and development through each belt level from white belt to black belt is symbolic of the journey we all take in life, a continuous learning process. Understanding that life is step by step, progression comes with time, effort, and failure would be a meaningful reminder in my own journey of self-improvement.
I think if i immersing myself in the rich tradition of Taekwondo, I would gain a greater sense of balance, discipline, and respect that would be invaluable in both my personal and professional life. More importantly, it would serve as a constant reminder of the importance of harmony between mind and body, a lesson that transcends martial arts and touches every aspect of life. This is what I would choose and nothing will change that because I really love learning new things.
Thanks for checking on my blog and have a wonderful day
