Kcontest #21 // K-pop: My Music My Life
K-Pop has become a meaningful part of my daily life, and no group has influenced me more than BLACKPINK, initially the only K-pop songs I like was BTS but the first time I watched “DDU-DU DDU-DU.” I became curious about the girls group. What began as casual curiosity turned into a genuine admiration for their music, artistry, and confidence. Over time, BLACKPINK has shaped not only my music taste but also the way I see myself and the world around me.

Everyday, K-Pop especially BLACKPINK’s songs has fills my routine with energy and positivity. Whether I’m getting ready in the morning, cooking, washing, or commuting, I often have their music playing in the background. Their songs, like “How You Like That,” “Pink Venom,” and “Shut Down,” is like a medicine, instantly lift my mood and remind me to be bold and fearless. Their performances are full of power, and watching their concerts or music videos motivates me to put my best effort into everything I do and never give up. I’ve even started learning parts of their choreography as a fun way to stay active and express myself through dance but I suck at that.

BLACKPINK has also broadened my music taste in ways I never expected. Before discovering them, I mostly listened to Western pop music. But their fusion of hip-hop, EDM, and pop elements opened my eyes to the creativity within K-Pop. I began exploring other Korean artists and appreciate their diversity and experimental the genre can be. What makes BLACKPINK special is their ability to blend global sounds with a distinctly Korean flair, creating something both fresh and familiar. Even though I don’t understand all the lyrics, the emotion and attitude in their voices always speak to me more than anyone can imagine.

The strongest connection I feel is with BLACKPINK as a group is their teamwork, strength, and individuality inspire me every day. Each member brings something unique and it's not always the same just like Jisoo’s elegance, Jennie’s charisma, Rosé’s soulful voice, and Lisa’s unmatched stage presence. Together, they represent empowerment, confidence, and resilience.
Their journey as women in a competitive industry shows me that success comes from hard work and self-belief, they believe in their selves and become each others strengths. BLACKPINK’s message of confidence being bold, embracing your uniqueness, and never apologizing for who you are has genuinely changed how I view myself.
In the end, BLACKPINK isn’t just a group I listen to, they are a source of inspiration, motivation, and self-expression. They remind me every day to shine and be confident,no matter what challenges come my way.
