Real pleasure reading this! :)
I know that feeling, standing in the dark room, waiting for the image to slowly appear...
Your kids may be a bit upset for a moment or two (or an hour or two, lmao) but they will have portraits like nobody else does! :)

I at least leave the toilet accessible for the kids, but only between prints 🤣

I need a timer for the developer, from what I have read the "fogging" is either from underdevelopment or my safelight. I am pretty sure it's development time since I'm impatient and probably took them out after only 30 seconds!

That's wise, I guess, otherwise sooner or later they'll start hating what you do :D

For a timer I use the clock app on my Android phone, it has an alarm that could bring back a dead man if I don't turn the volume down :D

Honestly, I envy you a bit, I miss so much that whole process of mixing chemicals, setting the enlarger, waiting for the development, wondering what do to better, etc...

Won't the clock app make too much light?

Mine doesn't turn on the flash on the back and I put it with the screen down so when it's on some fabric I barely see its light.
