I CARE I LOT: How far is ambition and wickedness capable of going? (REVIEW) [ENG-ESP]

I must tell you beforehand that as a person who has dedicated a large part of his life to helping people by being a doctor and then specializing in Geriatrics and Gerontology, watching this film was even more shocking than the previous one, I don't know if I am really too innocent, but never in my life would I have thought of this degree of evil, I swear!

I know that the conception of evil is quite variable among people; there are people who consider those who mistreat animals to be the most malevolent beings in the world, while others find it overrated, others only think of evil when women or children are mistreated, but leave aside men and others consider all of the above as forms of evil equally.

Obviously the ideal would be that we all think alike because at the end of the day evil is the act of hurting another, but it is not so friends and there are many reasons why this is so, some have an emotional background of childhood trauma due to some event, others are staunch defenders of rights in all its forms because they have seen cruelty from any point of view and others have witnessed some kind of abuse in their adolescence or adulthood, etc, for them some people see greater cruelty in some acts than others.

The point of all the above is that I understand that my training as a doctor has allowed me to want to help people in any way if it is in my power, I do not distinguish who asks me for help, of course if it is a murderer or a rapist the work is complicated, because it is difficult to be completely objective with them and forget everything they did, but ultimately I should not have biases and therefore I must treat them all equally.

Debo decirles de antemano que como una persona que ha dedicado gran parte de su vida a ayudar personas siendo médico y luego, aparte, especializarme en Geriatría y Gerontología, ver este film fue aún más chocante que el anterior, no sé si de verdad soy demasiado inocente, pero jamás en mi vida se me hubiera ocurrido este grado de maldad ¡Se los juro!

Yo sé que la concepción de maldad es bastante variable entre las personas; hay personas que consideran que los que maltratan animales son los seres más malévolos del mundo, mientras a otros les parece sobrevalorado, otros solo piensan en la maldad cuando se maltratan a mujeres o niños, pero dejan de lado a los hombres y otros consideran todo lo anterior como formas de maldad por igual.

Obviamente lo ideal sería que todos pensáramos igual porque a fin de cuentas la maldad es el acto de hacerle daño a otro, pero no es así amigos y hay muchas razones del porqué de esto, algunos tienen antecedentes emocionales de traumas en la infancia por algún hecho, otros son acérrimos defensores de los derechos en todas sus formas porque han visto la crueldad desde cualquier punto de vista y otros han presenciado algún tipo de maltrato en su adolescencia o adultez, etc, por ellos algunas personas ven mayor crueldad en algunos actos que en otros.

El punto de todo lo anterior es que me entiendan de que mi formación como médico me ha permitido desear ayudar a la gente de cualquier forma si está en mi posibilidad, no distingo de quien me pide ayuda, por supuesto si es un asesino o un violador el trabajo se complica, porque es difícil ser del todo objetivos con ellos y olvidar todo lo que hicieron, pero a fin de cuentas yo no debo tener sesgos y por ende debo tratarlos a todos por igual.

In medicine we are taught to attend by priorities in emergencies, we must first help children because they have the longest life expectancy, then mothers because they correspond to 2 lives to save, even if one of them has not yet been formed, then young people, adults and finally the elderly are left as the last option.

The latter is difficult to accept when you decide to specialize in the care and attention of the last priority on that list, i.e. the elderly, because obviously you want them to enjoy benefits, that their rights are fulfilled and that the care is the same as for the youngest.

At the end of the day, the world population has aged and the fact that someone is 65 years old should not make their life worth less than that of a 20 year old who, perhaps, takes drugs, steals, murders or even a pregnant teenager who does not take care of her pregnancy because she does not want the child and plans to abandon it as soon as she can; it may be that the life expectancy of that 65 year old person by family history is 100 years, that is 35 years of life that we are taking away from them to give it to someone else, isn't that difficult to accept, if you put yourself in my place?

En medicina nos enseñan a atender por prioridades en los casos de emergencias, debemos primero socorrer a los niños porque son los que tienen mayor esperanza de vida, luego a las madres porque ellas corresponden a 2 vidas que salvar, aunque una de ellas no se haya formado todavía, luego a los jóvenes, los adultos y finalmente se dejan a los adultos mayores como última opción.

Esto último es difícil de aceptar cuando decides especializarte en el cuidado y atención de la última prioridad de ese listado, es decir al adulto mayor, porque evidentemente quieres que gocen de beneficios, que se cumplan sus derechos y que la atención sea igual que para el más joven.

A fin de cuentas la población mundial ha envejecido y el que alguien tenga 65 años no debería hacer que su vida valga menos que la de un joven de 20 años que, tal vez, se droga, roba, asesina o hasta una adolescente embarazada que no cuida su embarazo porque no quiere al niño y lo piensa abandonar apenas pueda; puede ser que la esperanza de vida de esa persona de 65 años por antecedente familiar es de 100 años, es decir son 35 años de vida que les estamos quitando para dárselo a alguien más ¿verdad que es difícil aceptar eso, si te pones en mi lugar?

Básicamente eso que les cuento fue lo que ocurrió en la pandemia, aunado a que los adultos mayores tenían mayor cantidad de enfermedades de base y por ende mayor probabilidad de complicarse y morir por COVID, se le sumó el factor colapso por emergencia de los sistemas de salud del mundo.

Así que todo el personal de salud debió aplicar la regla de las prioridades que les expliqué arriba que usamos en las emergencias, donde el más viejo debía tener menos acceso a la ayuda porque había otras muchas personas por delante, eso contribuyó al aumento considerable de la cantidad de defunciones de adultos mayores.

Todo eso fue bastante doloroso de ver cuando una vez que pasa todo donde básicamente se priorizó al más joven sobre la vida del más viejo, entonces el joven sale de la hospitalización y no aprende nada de lo ocurrido siguiendo su vida como la llevaba antes, sin usar un tapabocas, sin querer vacunarse y sin el sentimiento de culpa con el que quedó todo el personal de salud por tener que haber escogido una vida sobre otra.

Lo peor es que, de seguro, la que no escogimos hubiera tenido más conciencia y no hubiera continuado su vida como el más joven, sino que hubiera apreciado más su vida, recapacitado y pensado más en el de al lado.

About how they use the rule of priorities always leaving the elderly as the last link in the chain, because in most of the countries they are considered a nuisance, they are not necessary, they are not a labor force to be used and therefore the faster they can get rid of them, the better!

If in addition to all these older adults they imply a risk of some kind for society due to some disease, well, the faster to get rid of them! and free the governments of the annual expenses they must allocate to the health system for their care or to social causes to help them; basically they use the same rule as we do in emergencies such as Covid, but unlike us they use it every day! for purely economic convenience and nothing more!

This film shows us a way to get rid of the problem that represents for the governments the increasing number of older adults that are becoming part of their countries. How? Well, they propose to institutionalize them, so we call it in a "nice" way to lock them in asylums, old people's homes, or geriatric residences.

Llegados a este punto, estarás pensando: ¿la película que ha venido a reseñar Dalla es de covid? Pues no. No se trata de covid en absoluto, sino de los derechos de los ancianos que son cercenados por el sistema de justicia de los países, ¡todos los días!

Sobre cómo usan la regla de las prioridades dejando siempre al adulto mayor como último eslabón de la cadena, porque en gran parte de los países los consideran un estorbo, no son necesarios, no son una mano de obra que utilizar y por ende mientras más rápido puedan librarse de ellos ¡pues mejor!

Si aunado a todo ese adulto mayor implican un riesgo de algún tipo para la sociedad por alguna enfermedad, pues ¡más rápido para deshacerse de él! y librar a los gobiernos de los gastos anuales que deben destinar al sistema de salud para su atención o a las causas sociales para ayudarlos; básicamente usan la misma regla que nosotros en las emergencias como la de la Covid, pero a diferencia de nosotros ellos la usan ¡todos los días! por conveniencias puramente económicas y ¡nada más!

Esta película nos plantea una forma de deshacerse del problema que representa para los gobiernos la cantidad cada vez mayor de adultos mayores que pasan a formar sus países ¿Cómo? Pues proponen institucionalizarlos, así le decimos de una forma “bonita” a encerrarlos en asilos, ancianatos, o residencias geriátricas.

En esos lugares los gobiernos los tendrán perfectamente controlados, sin posibilidad de que se caigan, se enfermen y tener que hacer operaciones costosas, sin que se compliquen más de lo que deben, los mantienen como autómatas a fuerza de medicamentos para que no estorben nada, hasta que ¡por fin! les llegue su momento.

Todo eso sin gastar un solo céntimo más que el destinado para ellos, de hecho, lo que buscan principalmente es que la institucionalización sea costeada por los ahorros de toda la vida del propio adulto mayor; Esto que plantea la película es una realidad, es una verdad dura y cruel, así funciona la visión en muchos de los gobiernos.

Dichos representantes obviamente no tienen ninguna afinidad con ese adulto, ni los conocen siquiera, pero eso no importa mucho, no les interesa, porque ese tutor tiene una buena reputación para el estado y será de mucha más ayuda para ellos que la familia verdadera ¿Irónico cierto?

Marla hace muchas cosas malas muy evidentes, pero que la justicia no ve ¿Por qué? Pues por todo lo que les conté al principio, porque el adulto mayor es considerado un ser sin valor, un despojo, la última prioridad, así que mejor no perder mucho tiempo en analizar sus casos en juzgados porque tienen trabajo más importante, igual son personas que pronto va a morir, da igual lo que suceda con ellas ahorita o después, "mejor que pasa el siguiente caso y que Marla se ocupe” –parecen decir–

Marla además es una experta en todo el proceso, conoce perfectamente los métodos para manejar todo, ella los busca, dialoga, se encarga de los bienes, paga lo que debe pagar mensualmente, se encarga de los familiares fastidiosos, se comunica con los médicos ¡Marla es una maravilla! es la más hábil en el asunto porque lleva años dedicada a lo mismo, tiene muchos adultos a su cargo porque su única intención siempre ha sido cuidar (como dice el título de la película) a los adultos mayores del país (Sarcasmo).

Una mujer con una seguridad en sí misma que te deja estupefacto, no da tregua a nadie, que se hizo una experta en manipulación, conoce las debilidades de cualquiera y más de sus enemigos, aprendió a desenvolverse en un mundo que lo que te pidas es crecer más cada vez, el mundo de la avaricia y el dinero, de no cansarte de tener lo suficiente.

Una antisocial en el cuerpo de una hermosa mujer atlética y muy muy inteligente ¿quién podría ceder ante los encantos de ella? ¡Nadie! a menos que se quite los lentes y veas esa mirada ultra penetrante que te dice inmediatamente que esa mujer es de cuidado, algo oculta tras ese escultural cuerpo.

Hay una analogía que muestran en la película que me encantó y es que la personalidad de Marla se puede comparar con la de un alto jefe de alguna mafia, pero no porque sean iguales, ojo, es que Marla puede llegar a ser peor que él ¿Increíble cierto?, ¿Pero por qué?, ¿Hasta dónde es capaz de llegar?, ¿Por qué lo comparan con algo así?

I can't say much about this character because it would give some spoilers, he is a mysterious man, who suddenly crosses Marla's life, he also has ambitions, he is also not very good as a person, but unlike Marla he does seem to have some heart.

Roman has already met people similar to Marla, but he is still shocked to meet her, what does he feel for her, is it hatred or admiration? No puedo decir mucho de este personaje porque daría algunos spoilers, es un hombre misterioso, que de repente se cruza en la vida de Marla, él también tiene ambiciones, tampoco es muy bueno como persona, pero a diferencia de Marla él si pareciera tener algo de corazón.

La vida se encarga de cruzar a estos dos personajes, pero ¿por qué?, ¿para enfrentarse o trabajar juntos? Deberás ver la película para saberlo. Roman ya ha conocido personas parecidas a Marla, pero igual se queda impresionado al conocerla, ¿qué siente por ella?, ¿Es odio o es admiración? Se los dejo como una incógnita que develar y otra razón para ver la película.

Y es que en el país tener lugares de residencia permanentes para la tercera edad es casi un sueño, aun las privadas son de difícil acceso porque son costosas, por lo que jamás caeríamos en este nivel de corrupción; sería casi imposible que el estado se lanzará la soga al cuello para determinar que un adultos mayor deba ubicarse en un lugar de este tipo, porque sencillamente los geriátricos que >conforman el sistema público son deplorables, y si pretenden ubicarlos en un lugar privado los ahorros de toda la vida se les irían en un par de meses, así que cuando vi esta película quedé impresionada.

What people are capable of doing for money: This movie just made me think about the level of ambition that a person who is dedicated to stealing from the unprotected and most vulnerable can have; for me who most of the time tries to see the good in people or at least understand what is in them that led them to act in a certain way, watching this movie left me with a conflict of emotions and thoughts, in short, there is absolutely no humanity in this being! no motives, nothing else! just a lot of evil and too much greed.

Lo que es capaz de hacer la gente por dinero: Esta película solo me puso a pensar en el nivel de ambición que puede llegar a tener una persona que se dedica a robarle a los desprotegidos y más vulnerables; para mí que la mayoría de las veces intento ver lo bueno de la gente o por lo menos entender que hay en ellos que los llevó a actuar de determinada forma, ver esta película me dejó un conflicto de emociones y pensamientos, en definitiva en este ser ¡no hay absolutamente nada de humanidad! ni motivos ¡ni nada más! solo mucha maldad y demasiada codicia.

When you think you met the bad guy, don't worry you will be surprised, there may be someone more evil, I establish this message by comparing the characters of Rosamound Pike both Marla and Amy in the movie I saw before of Rosamound Pike "Perdida", and I was shocked with the degree of evil of Amy, but as my concept of evil when I speak of a senior can become different from others by my training, I do not know which is worse if Marla or Amy.

And is that Amy is a psychopath, but Marla can easily become someone very similar because she is an antisocial, if you ask me which of the 2 beings is worse I could not tell you because ultimately the psychopath is born that way, he is not to blame for not feeling anything and enjoy hurting others.

On the other hand, the antisocial can choose not to do harm, he has no problem in his brain anatomy, but still decides by his own decision to be bad, so which of the two characters do you think is more evil? that is why I spoke in those paragraphs at the beginning of the different visions of what represents evil in humans and why my vision with this film could be biased, because I am a geriatrician and I fervently defend the elderly.

-Cuando crees que conociste al malo, no te preocupes te vas a sorprender, puede haber alguien más malo, este mensaje lo establezco comparando los personajes de Rosamound Pike tanto el de Marla como el de Amy en la película que vi anteriormente de Rosamound Pike "Perdida", y es que yo quedé impactada con el grado de maldad de Amy, pero como mi concepto de maldad cuando me hablan de un adulto mayor puede llegar a ser distinta al de otros por mi formación, no sé cuál es peor si Marla o Amy.

Y es que Amy es una psicópata, pero Marla puede llegar fácilmente a ser alguien muy parecido porque es una antisocial, si me preguntas cuál de los 2 seres es peor no sabría decirles porque a fin de cuentas el psicópata nace así, él no tiene la culpa de no sentir nada y de disfrutar haciéndole daño a otros.

Por otro lado, el antisocial puede elegir no hacer daño, él no tiene ningún problema en su anatomía cerebral, pero aun así decide por decisión propia ser malo, así que ¿cuál de los dos personajes piensan ustedes que es más malo? por eso les hablé en esos párrafos al principio de las distintas visiones de lo que representa la maldad en los seres humanos y el por qué mi visión con esta película podría estar sesgada, porque soy geriatra y defiendo fervientemente al adulto mayor.

I liked the movie? I liked it, although the day I saw it I didn't feel completely connected with it, there were some things here and there that didn't quite fit, I noticed plot holes, but I feel that what they wanted was to highlight Marla's character, not the plot, or at least that's how I saw it and that's why they didn't mind leaving those holes, for example, how is it that after so many cases nobody noticed what Marla did? Someone can be a multimillionaire dedicating herself exclusively to that and not attract anyone's attention?
I don't know if what the director was looking for was to highlight only Marla, or if Rosamound Pike did it so well that it wasn't even necessary to fill in those plot holes, because in the end the movie was excellent.

Would I see it again? Totally, to analyze those who see it with me and see if they are interested in those things as I am and if they think like me that this woman is ultra mega bad and determine if it is because of my bias or because it really looked like that.

I would totally recommend her? Yes, to many of the family members of the seniors I see to see if they would think twice about abandoning their family members in those nursing homes or leaving them in someone else's care.

There is another detail that I didn't find much sense in it either and that is the fact that the film is classified mainly as a comedy, I didn't feel that it was a comedy in any sense, but well, it doesn't make that much difference in the whole because I still liked it.

¿Me gustó la película? Me gustó, aunque el día que la vi no me sentía del todo conectada con ella, habían algunas cosas por aquí y por allá que no me cuadraban del todo, noté vacíos argumentales, pero siento que lo que se buscaba era resaltar el personaje de Marla no la trama, o por lo menos así lo sentí, y por eso no les importó dejar esos vacíos, por ejemplo ¿Cómo es que después de tantos casos nadie se dio cuenta de lo que hacía Marla?, ¿Alguien puede ser multimillonaria dedicándose exclusivamente a eso y que no llame la atención de nadie?

No sé si lo que buscaba el director era resaltar solo a Marla, o Rosamound Pike lo hizo ¡tan bien! que no hizo falta ni llenar esos vacíos argumentales, porque finalmente la película quedó excelente.

Hay otro detalle que tampoco le encontré mucho sentido y es el hecho de que la película sea clasificada principalmente como comedia, yo no sentí que eso fuera una comedia en ningún sentido, pero bueno, tampoco hace tanta diferencia en el todo porque igual ne gustó.

¿La volvería a ver? Totalmente, para analizar a los que la vean conmigo y ver si le interesan esas cosas igual que a mí y si piensan como yo que esta mujer es ultra mega mala y determinar si es por mi sesgo mi pensamiento o porque de verdad se vio así.

¿La recomendaría? Totalmente a muchos de los familiares de los adultos mayores que atiendo para ver si piensan mejor en la posibilidad de abandonar a sus familiares en esas residencias geriátricas o a la hora de dejarlos bajo el cuido de alguien más.
