How exciting to have gone to the auction preview! Those high bids show just how much the show meant to fans. It is a classic and one that stays on my list of most favourite TV series! Absolutely fabulous. I wouldn't mind one of those 1920s evening dresses! Imagine how much they'll go for.
I'm so glad to hear there's another Downton Abbey movie coming out, sad though that there will be no more after that!

That's true, the high bids does reflect how dedicated by the fans are. I'm just gobsmacked at some of the prices. One of the bid lot are two telegrams Lord Grantham received in season 1. One telegram is about the sinking of the Titanic, and the other about Britain going to war with Germany. The last bid was £5k!!!
That is simply amazing - some would say outrageous, but, as a diehard Downton Abbey fan and knowing the attention to detail in the entire production, I say bravo to everyone involved. Even better that the money is going to a good cause!
I just looked at the bid, there's a few lots that includes 3 dresses going for under £400ish. It's actually a very good deal if you look at the average price
