DIVE INTO SERIES •//• A journey through my must-watch list

I was never a fan of series, I preferred watching my regular 1hr-2hr 30mins movie. One reason I felt reluctant to watch series is the unending feeling of anticipation after a season or episode that pricks me for about a week or two depending on the series.

But for some time now, I have been watching series and I have been enjoying them, regardless of the years it takes. There are some ongoing series that I have watched and I am also eager for a continuation, out of all the series, there are five series that stood out for me, and I’ll be sharing this with my favorite characters in them.

It is quite hard for me to place them in order but regardless of how they are placed, they are all worth the time.

THE BOYS

Imagine a world where superheroes are celebrities and influencers, where the government recognizes them and works with them. Can you imagine? Yeah, this is the “The Boys” world. One thing I love about this series is the extraordinary storyline not overly trite. The Boys was released on July 26, 2019, and with four seasons.

The boys portrayed a set of superheroes who were acknowledged and supported by the government and people, in fact, they were almost the armies of the country, they were called ” the seven”, things soon get downside when a certain group of men – or should I say, 'the boys' – who had a grudge with the superheroes decided to take them down

The questions remain; can they really take them down? Are they even a true superhero?

If you are a fan of superhero movies, it is definitely a nice choice. A lot of action, and unexpected turns. I love most characters, they suit in perfectly, but if I were to choose a favorite character it would be ” Karl Urban” as ” Billy Butcher” no doubt, his acting skills were top-notch

STRANGER THINGS

” Stranger Things” was released on July 15, 2016, it is a science fiction and mystery series, focusing on unimaginable things and the power of friendship and parental love. Stranger Things was actually the first series that I gave a try after giving up on watching series and with no regret.

Stranger Things portrayed a group of best friends who got involved with supernatural things. A lot of challenges came their way alongside a strange girl, things got knotty when they found out that there were secret government organizations involved.

They effortfully look for a way to battle the horror at hand, without knowing that the way is just another channel for a greater horror. Regardless of the suspense, I enjoyed the comedy and teasing that comes amidst those tense moments.

The series is no doubt popular, I’ll say it is worth the puff. It is entertaining. I appreciate how well the children, who are the main characters, performed. It is so hard to choose a favorite character but I’ll say ” Millie Bobby Brown” as ” Eleven” are acting skills were top-notch

FAR FROM HOME

This is a Nollywood series and I love it. “Far from Home” was released on December 16, 2022, with only 1 season. Far from home focused on dreams, family, school, and friends, anything high school and vibe, please count me in

Far from Home portrayed a poor guy whose dream is to become a well-known artist and, by chance he gets a scholarship to the most one of the most prestigious schools, it wasn’t a smooth ride for him as he struggled to fit into the affluent world, but everything soon took a turn when he got caught up with drug dealers...

I love the storyline, the characters, and the setting. My favorite character in this series is ” Mike Afolarin” as ” Ishaya Bello”

GINNY AND GEORGIA

My first thought on this series was that it would be childish and a waste of time, but of course, it was the opposite. “Ginny and Georgia” was released on February 24, 2021, with 2 seasons. The movie focused on teen mom struggles and mother-and-daughter relationships.

Ginny and Georgia portrayed the life of a teen girl who got pregnant and struggled her way through life, she was always on the run with her daughter, Ginny, and her brother. Now, in Wellsbury where it looks like the run is over but is the run truly over?

In Wellsbury, Ginny struggles to fit in the new environment and Georgia as always finds her way around it, all was fine until her past came for her, and everything suddenly vanished.

This is one of my funniest series, this series was a whole a lot of fun and filled with drama. My favorite character is Brianne Howey as Georgia, a perfect actress with, nice aura and smile.

EUPHORIA

As a fan of Zendaya, I didn’t think too much before I started watching. ” Euphoria” was released on June 16, 2019, with 2 seasons. Euphoria focused on (a group of friends) teens' lives and struggles with drugs, friends, love, and everything in between. One thing I love about this movie is that everyone in the group of friends has different personalities.

Although this series was more focused on a teenage girl who struggles with drug addiction, others with peer pressure, and some with relationships. It was just so real and entertaining. It is definitely worth the watch.

I love it as everyone has diverse opinions and personalities but I’ll say ” Alexa Demie” as ” Maddy” was my favorite character; I love her energy.

These are my top 5 and I am still willing to watch more that would rout these series. Feel free to let me know which of them you have watched, also if you have any recommendations.
