¿De qué va la trama?

Esta cinta inicia con Mercedes, en New York angustiada por enterarse que su hija menor que había dejado en República dominicana al cuidado de sus abuela había salido embarazada, ella al recibir la llamada de su madre sin pensarlo dos veces decidí abandonar su vida en New York, y se regresa a su país para apoyar a su hija y empezar desde cero.

Al llegar a su casa se da cuenta que nada está bien como ella pensaba, su madre se encontraba llena de deudas y su hija con mucho rencor hacia ella reprochándole que la había abandonado, y en su rebeldía había salido embarazada sin querer decir quién es el padre del niño, mercedes decide enfrentar los problemas y sacar adelante a su familia, para ello empieza a buscar trabajo de profesora de inglés, ya que al tener varios años viviendo en estados unidos domina muy bien el idioma.

El trama se enreda cuando Mercedes, mejor conocida como la profesora Mechy va a una entrevista de trabajo para una suplencia de una docente de inglés, pero el director le informa que ya otra profesora más calificada aplico para este puesto y no tenían mas vacantes, Mechy le insiste pero al final el director le dice que lo único que tiene es un puesto de docente de danza moderna que obviamente no tenía nada que ver con ella, ella le refuta y le argumenta que ella es la mejor bailarina de danza pero que no lo había colocado en su currículo porque ese conocimiento es mas que todo un hobby, la subdirectora que esta presente también no le creo nada, y a pesar que el director la contrata en calidad de prueba la subdirectora hará todo lo posible por descubrir que Mechy en realidad es una impostora.

What is the plot about?

The film begins with Mercedes in New York, distraught upon learning that her youngest daughter—whom she had left in the Dominican Republic in her grandmother’s care—had become pregnant. Upon receiving the call from her mother, she decided without a second thought to leave her life in New York behind and return to her home country to support her daughter and start over from scratch.

Upon arriving home, she realizes that nothing is as she had imagined. Her mother is deep in debt, and her daughter harbors deep resentment toward her, accusing her of having abandoned her. and in her defiance, she had become pregnant without revealing who the child’s father is. Mercedes decides to face the problems head-on and provide for her family; to do so, she begins looking for work as an English teacher, since having lived in the United States for several years, she has a strong command of the language.

The plot thickens when Mercedes, better known as Professor Mechy, goes to a job interview for a substitute English teaching position, but the principal informs her that another, more qualified teacher has already applied for the job and there are no more openings. Mechy insists, but in the end, the principal tells her that the only position available is for a modern dance teacher—a role that obviously has nothing to do with her. She refutes him and argues that she is the best dancer, but she hadn’t included it on her resume because that skill is mostly just a hobby. The assistant principal, who is also present, doesn’t believe her either.

Aquí es donde inicia realmente la trama, y podrán ser testigo de todos los apuros que pasa la profesora Mechy para mantener este trabajo del que no sabe nada de nada, ja, ja, ja pero se aferra tanto a el que decide poner en práctica su buen humor, carisma y amor a sus estudiantes que a pesar de ser niños ricos tienen muchos problemas personales, que ella los va ayudando a salir de ellos y se va ganando sus corazones, haciendo de ellos un grupo amigable y unido.

Una de los aspectos más importantes de esta película es precisamente los valores que podemos ver promovidos por la profesora Mechy con sus grupo de estudiantes, al principio se toca el tema del bullying, del complejo de superioridad, del egocentrismo de algunos alumnos y ella con cada clase los alecciona a ser mejores personas, a respetarse, aceptase como son realmente, a sentirse seguros de sí mismos, y a brillar con luz propia; a pesar de ser una pésima profesora de danza ella hará lo inimaginable para preparar a sus alumnos para un concurso de baile donde representaran a la escuela. No les contare como termina esta historia, ya que deberán averiguarlo por ustedes mismos, lo único que les puedo decir es que el final será inesperado y muy alentador, si no han tenido la oportunidad de ver esta película los invito a verla, y si ya la vieron espero haya sido de sus agrado, hasta una nueva oportunidad.

This is where the story really begins, and you’ll get to see all the struggles Teacher Mechy goes through to keep this job she knows absolutely nothing about, ha, ha, ha, but she clings to it so tightly that she decides to put her good humor, charisma, and love for her students into practice. Even though they’re rich kids, they have a lot of personal problems, and she helps them work through them, winning their hearts and turning them into a friendly, close-knit group.

One of the most important aspects of this film is precisely the values that we see promoted by Ms. Mechy with her group of students. At the beginning, the film addresses the issues of bullying, superiority complexes, and the self-centeredness of some students, and with each class, she teaches them to be better people, to respect one another, to accept themselves as they truly are, to feel confident in themselves, and to shine with their own light; despite being a terrible dance teacher, she’ll do the unimaginable to prepare her students for a dance competition where they’ll represent the school. I won’t tell you how this story ends, since you’ll have to find out for yourselves. The only thing I can say is that the ending will be unexpected and very uplifting.
