The Call of the Wild (2020) || Opinion & Review (Eng/ Esp)

The film tells us the great journey of this dog, that is a mixture between St. Bernard and Scottish Collie, which was stolen from its owner in California U.S. A to be taken to Alaska as a slave, suffers much abuse by his captors and this with his intelligence prefers not to resist thus preserving his life, but keeping in his mind the causes of their suffering, these scenes left me very sad for the evil of some people who dare to mistreat a defenceless being, go my rejection and my condemnation, these scenes were conducive to guide my children with respect to the issue of animal abuse.

La película nos cuenta la gran travesía de este can, que es una mezcla entre San Bernardo y Collie Escocés, el cual fue robado a su dueño en California U.S.A para ser llevado a Alaska como esclavo, sufre mucho maltrato por parte de sus captores y este con su inteligencia prefiere no oponer resistencia conservando así su vida, pero guardando en su mente los causantes de su sufrimiento, estas escenas me dejaron mucha tristeza por la maldad de algunas personas que se atreven a maltratar a un ser indefenso, vaya mi rechazo y mi condena, estas escenas me fueron propicias para orientar a mis hijos con respecto al tema de maltrato animal.

The plot continues when they arrive to Alaska, and Buck steps in the snow for the first time, he is filled with joy to feel the snowflakes falling on his face, and at that moment he meets who would later become his best friend Harrison Ford, who plays John Thorton, by returning a harmony that fell out of his pocket, then Buck is sold to his new master, who treats him well and with respect, to transport the mail with a pack of dogs being a husky dog the leader, During these journeys Buck learns to work as a team and together with his fellow dogs he helps them to satisfy their needs for water, food and a comfortable place to sleep, unlike his leader who always treats the pack with superiority by putting himself first to drink water, eat or sleep in the best place, Buck little by little is gaining the respect and affection of the other dogs, who begin to see him as their new leader. This is one of the many teachings that this movie brings us, to lead is not to impose, nor to cause fear in the others, it is not about limiting oneself to command, but to work shoulder to shoulder, it is to give the example, it is to go first to face the dangers and to win the admiration and trust of the others, at the end the husky leaves the pack and Buck remains in his position as leader, well deserved.

Continúa la trama cuando llegan a Alaska y Buck pisa por primera vez a nieve, este se llena de dicha al sentir los copos de nieve cayendo en su rostro, y en ese momento conoce a quien sería más adelante su mejor amigo a Harrison Ford, quien interpreta a Jhon Thorton, devolviéndole una armonía que se le cayó de su bolsillo, luego Buck es vendido a su nuevo amo, quien si lo trata bien y con respeto, para transportar el correo junto a una manada de perros siendo un perro husky el líder, durante estos recorridos Buck aprende a trabajar en equipo y junto a sus compañeros perrunos los ayuda a satisfacer sus necesidades de agua, comida y un lugar cómodo para dormir, a diferencia de su líder quien siempre trata a la manada con superioridad colocándose el de primero para tomar agua, comer o dormir en el mejor lugar, Buck poco a poco se va ganando el respeto y cariño de los demás perros, quienes empiezan a verlo a él como su nuevo líder. Esta es una de tantas enseñanzas que nos trae esta película, liderar no es imponer, ni causar temor en los otros, no se trata de limitarse a mandar, sino de trabajar hombro a hombro, dar el ejemplo, es ir primero a enfrentarse a los peligros y ganar la admiración y la confianza de los otros, al final el husky se va de la manada y queda Buck en su puesto de líder, bien merecido.

Another of the highlights of the film is the friendship between Jhon and Buck, both need each other in my opinion, Jhon for his loneliness takes refuge in drink and Buck takes him to visit other lands looking for a better destiny for him, they go into the forest in search of gold, and buck in search of his own self, his instinct leads him to want to be free, to have a family on his own and on his journey he sees a white wolf who steals his heart, for which he does a great feat to get her attention and get into his pack with the other wolves, who end up accepting him. This dog is truly an inspiration for us as viewers, his character shows us that only in the constant experiences that life gives us we must discover who we are and what we are capable of in the face of adversity, demonstrate our courage first before ourselves, and this will give us the drive to achieve everything we set out to do and be happy, which is what we all seek in this life.

Otro de los aspectos resaltantes de la película es la relación de amistad entre Jhon y Buck, ambos se necesitan a mi modo de ver, Jhon por su soledad se refugia en la bebida y Buck lo lleva a visitar otras tierras buscando un destino mejor para él, se adentran en el bosque en búsqueda de oro, y buck en búsqueda de su propio ser, su instinto lo lleva a querer ser libre, a tener una familia por su cuenta y en su recorrido ve a una loba blanca la cual roba su corazón, por la que hace una gran hazaña para llamar su atención y lograr entrar en su manada junto a los otros lobos, quienes terminan aceptándolo. Este perro es verdaderamente una inspiración para nosotros como espectadores, su personaje nos demuestra que solo en las constantes vivencias que nos da la vida nos debemos el descubrir quiénes somos y lo que somos capaces ante las adversidades, demostrar nuestro valor primero ante nosotros mismos, y esto nos dará el empuje para lograr todo lo que nos propongamos y ser feliz, que es lo que todos buscamos en esta vida.

I consider Buck, as the main character of this film, without underestimating the role of Harrison Ford, who happens to have a secondary role, but very important in the life of Buck; the film also gives us beautiful locations and natural landscapes that will leave you pleased to see this beautiful story, the only thing I did not like is how sometimes the evil of some people prevails over good people, I was saddened by the end that John had, that last scene moved me.
