Creo que esta película fue un perfecto ejemplo de “decepcionada, pero no sorprendida”, y lo cierto es que fue una historia frustrante de ver, mientras nos presentaban a Raquel como una chica, aunque curiosa, “firme” con sus ideales, me pareció más como una de esas típicas fantasías de “No soy como las demás” que fallaba una y otra vez pues nuestra protagonista seguía cayendo ante los supuestos encantos de Ares, quien por su parte, apenas y tenía una personalidad interesante, siendo lo único en toda la película que compartían en común estos personajes lo tóxicos que ambos eran, Raquel por su parte siendo una acosadora, y Ares no teniendo problemas en jugar con ella y usarla(Fácilmente pudieron añadir la etiqueta de Thriller y lo creería). Ambos personajes forman una “relación romántica” a base de discusiones y tener relaciones sexuales dejando de un lado el factor principal (personalmente) que debería de tener una historia de romance adolescente, el cual es el desarrollo de una conexión y conversaciones genuinas, las cuales Raquel y Ares apenas comparte en casi dos horas de película

I think this movie was a perfect example of "disappointed, but not surprised", and the truth is that it was a frustrating story to watch, while we were introduced to Raquel as a girl, although curious, "firm" with her ideals, it seemed to me more like one of those typical "I'm not like the others" fantasies that failed over and over again as our protagonist kept falling for the supposed charms of Ares, who for his part, barely even had an interesting personality, being the only thing in the whole movie that these characters shared in common was how toxic they both were, Raquel for her part being a stalker, and Ares having no problem playing her and using her(They could have easily added the Thriller label and I would believe it). Both characters form a "romantic relationship" based on arguments and having sex leaving aside the main factor (personally) that a teen romance story should have, which is the development of a connection and genuine conversations, which Raquel and Ares barely share in almost two hours of film.

También considere las interacciones entre los personajes algo incomodas, y si bien no he leído el libro y por ende no sé cuantos recursos tuvo el guionista para hacer esta adaptación, se sintió en general como un trabajo sin mucha gracia, con una manera de manejar la historia poco cautivadora, cuyo conflicto principal se pudo resolver fácilmente en una sola hora. Los personajes en si no eran tan interesantes, el único me pareció llamativo fue el amigo de Raquel, Yoshi, a quien solo lo incluyo aquí más por su apariencia colorida que por el papel que juega en la trama, Raquel no tiene nada precisamente memorable aunque intenten mostrar lo contrario, y más allá de escribir una historia sobre ella y Ares, y hacerse la indiferente por 5 segundo a este, no hay muchos aspectos sobresalientes en ella, y aunque intentaron poner algunas reflexiones en la historia usando aspectos de su pasado, realmente no funciono tan bien; luego Ares, a quien le aplican este cliché de muchas novelas/películas juveniles de añadirle un trauma para “justificar” sus comportamientos y hacerlo pasar por una persona profunda cuando ni siquiera le dan una oportunidad a tener una evolución de personaje adecuada

I also found the interactions between the characters somewhat awkward, and while I haven't read the book and therefore don't know how many resources the screenwriter had to make this adaptation, it felt overall like an unfunny job, with a less than captivating way of handling the story, whose main conflict could easily be resolved in a single hour. The characters themselves were not that interesting, the only one I found striking was Raquel's friend Yoshi, who I only include here more for his colorful appearance than for the role he plays in the plot, Raquel has nothing exactly memorable although they try to show the opposite, and beyond writing a story about her and Ares, and pretending to be indifferent for 5 seconds to this one, there are not many outstanding aspects of her, and although they tried to put some reflections in the story using aspects of her past, it really didn't work that well; then Ares, to whom they apply this cliché of many juvenile novels/movies of adding a trauma to "justify" his behaviors and make him look like a deep person when they don't even give him a chance to have a proper character development.

Mi problema con esta película es como romantizan y normalizan comportamientos que, en la vida real, podrían resultar peligrosos, y que si bien es “fantasía” y solo “entretenimiento”, la manera en que manejan dichas conductas no son las más adecuada que pudieron elegir para el tipo de público al que está dirigida esta producción, también me es algo preocupante (aunque no es nada nuevo) el uso constantes de escenas intimas que solo están allí para ganar el favor del espectador más que para sumar a la historia, habiendo incluso un momento donde (SPOILER) los protagonistas tienen relaciones al lado de, no solo un menor de edad, sino que también alguien inconsciente a la situación que esta pasando justo a su lado, lo que es ciertamente una conducta alarmante para mostrar en una película de romance adolescente. Por el lado positivo, creo que lo mejor, y lo que más pude apreciar de la película, fue que tenía una fotografía bastante agradable y que sin duda me mantuvo al pendiente de las escenas a pesar de que la trama no era mi favorita. En conclusión, A través de mi ventana se me hizo una historia aburrida y un intento de hacer algo diferente, que termino siendo más de la misma fórmula de “Chica buena, chico malo” y que si bien estéticamente es un poco más agradable que al resto de películas similares,falla en mostrar una historia distintiva, y es el perfecto ejemplo para mi, de cómo hay historias que quizás funcionen muy bien en papel, pero que una vez adaptadas a la realidad adquieren otro tono y pierden la chispa que pudieron llegar a tener alguna vez.

My problem with this movie is how they romanticize and normalize behaviors that, in real life, could be dangerous, and that while it is "fantasy" and just "entertainment", the way they handle such behaviors are not the most appropriate they could have chosen for the type of audience this production is aimed at, I also find somewhat disturbing (although it is nothing new) the constant use of intimate scenes that are only there to gain the viewer's favor rather than to add to the story, there is even a moment where (SPOILER) the protagonists have sex next to, not only a minor, but also someone unaware of the situation that is happening right next to them, which is certainly an alarming behavior to show in a teen romance movie. On the positive side, I think the best thing, and what I could appreciate most about the film, was that it had quite nice cinematography and it certainly kept me watching the scenes even though the plot was not my favorite. In conclusion, Through My Window was a boring story and an attempt to do something different, which ended up being more of the same formula of "Good girl, bad guy" and although aesthetically it is a little more pleasant than the rest of similar films, it fails to show a distinctive story, and is the perfect example for me, of how there are stories that may work very well on paper, but once adapted to reality they acquire another tone and lose the spark that they could have once had.
