El tomar el asunto bajo sus propias manos no termina tan bien como pensaron, para suerte de ambos la presidenta se ve envuelta en una gran controversia mediática y en un intento por limpiar su imagen y la de su partido, se pone manos a la obra para salvar el planeta. Todo pinta genial para este punto y la humanidad parece tener un rayo de esperanza asomándose por el horizonte, pero pronto los planes heroicos para salvar el mundo se verán interrumpidos

Porque, ¡Oye, Hay una cantidad absurda de dinero que podríamos obtener de ese meteorito! ¿Y qué seria de la sociedad moderna si no pudiéramos ponerle precio hasta el más mínimo (y mortal) recurso que se nos pongan a la vista?

Don’t look up es una sátira hacía la indiferencia de los políticos, los grandes “empresarios”, e incluso, el ser humano promedio, a la cruel realidad a la que nos enfrentamos, el mundo se está desvaneciendo ante nuestros propios ojos y lo único que queremos saber es cómo pasan los multimillonarios sus vacaciones, o que pasara a continuación en la rara relación de Kim Kardashian y Kanye West; Y ni hablar de lo “máximo” que podemos hacer como sociedad en un intento de ayudar el mundo, como dar un re-tweet a una noticia sobre el reciclaje y el anti-consumismo, sembrar algunas plantas a tu alrededor, y quizás recoger una bolsa de plástico que veamos por la calle. Lo cierto es que vivimos en una sociedad construida sobre pilares bastantes dudosos, y que si vemos objetivamente nos daremos cuenta de lo absurdo que llega a ser todo en algún punto, y Don’t look up intenta mostrarnos eso durante las dos horas que dura la película.

Don't look up is a satire on the indifference of politicians, big "businessmen", and even the average human being, to the cruel reality we are facing, the world is vanishing before our very eyes and all we want to know is how billionaires spend their vacations, or what will happen next in Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's weird relationship; And let alone the "ultimate" thing we can do as a society in an attempt to help the world, like giving a re-tweet to a news story about recycling and anti-consumerism, planting some plants around you, and maybe picking up a plastic bag we see on the street. The truth is that we live in a society built on rather dubious pillars, and that if we look objectively we will realize how absurd it all becomes at some point, and Don't look up tries to show us that during the two hours that the film lasts.

Ahora no me quejo de que tomaran este mensaje y se fueran por un aspecto cómico, para retratarnos lo ridículo que llega a ser la realidad, pero ciertamente quede con ese pequeño deseo de ver el asunto más equilibrado, sin duda fue una historia bastante pretenciosa, queriendo abarcar diversos temas al mismo tiempo y posteriormente agregando escenas y personajes que poco complementaban los temas principales, a su vez con esto dicho, puedo entender la frustración de muchos con esta película, no es un humor para todo (y no significa que a los que no les gusto tengan, bueno, mal sentido del humor) lo cierto es que Don’t Look Up roza la sutil línea de una sátira a una parodia, emboban tanto la realidad y añaden situaciones con connotación sexual (que llegan a ser innecesarias) que podría ser difícil conectar con el film para algunos, sobre todo aquellos que esperaran que estos temas se lleven con mayor seriedad, pero aun así, no podemos negar el obvio mensaje que nos presentan, que nuestro futuro pinta bastante mal si no comenzamos a darle el merito e importancia que se merecen las noticias sobre el futuro de nuestro planeta y la misma humanidad. Si bien hay una que otra escena atractiva cinematográficamente no es especialmente destacable a la par de otras películas sobre el “fin del mundo.” Con uno de los cast más pretenciosos de estos últimos años, lleno de estrellas más que talentosas y apreciadas por el público tengo este pequeño resentimiento dentro de mí, fue como una oportunidad pérdida de crear una película realmente significativa para los próximos años, un producto con longevidad e impacto, pero oye… Por qué les cobraron a esos pobres científicos por snacks gratis…?

Now I'm not complaining that they took this message and went for a comic aspect, to portray us how ridiculous reality becomes, but certainly I was left with that little desire to see the matter more balanced, no doubt it was a rather pretentious story, wanting to cover various topics at the same time and later adding scenes and characters that little complemented the main themes, in turn with this said, I can understand the frustration of many with this film, it is not a humor for everything (and does not mean that those who do not like it have, well, a bad sense of humor) the truth is that Don't Look Up borders on the subtle line of a satire to a parody, they dumb down reality so much and add situations with sexual connotations (which become unnecessary) that it might be difficult to connect with the film for some, but even so, we can't deny the obvious message we are presented with, that our future looks pretty bad if we don't start giving the news about the future of our planet and humanity itself the merit and importance it deserves. While there is the occasional cinematically engaging scene, it's not particularly noteworthy on par with other "end of the world" films. With one of the most pretentious casts in recent years, filled with more than talented and appreciated stars by the public I have this little resentment inside me, it was like a missed opportunity to create a truly meaningful film for years to come, a product with longevity and impact, but hey... Why did they charge those poor scientists for free snacks...?
