One of the times I went to the movies this year, I think when I went to see Captain America, I saw the trailer for Drop (2025) and it caught my attention and I decided to see it, luckily I saw it at home because the ending was not what I expected hehehe but it was not bad at the beginning, this movie directed by Christopher Landon, the same guy who of Happy Death Day and Freaky has a simple plot although it makes you think a bit if you try to figure out who is the one who is screwing Violet who is the main character. Violet is a mother who has been widowed and decides to give herself a chance and go on a date after a rather shady past, which is shown in the first scene of the movie, it's actually quite intense and confused me a bit, I thought I was starting at the end but I wasn't. She met Henry on one of those dating apps and has been chatting with him for a while but had never taken him out until they finally met in person and went to a super fancy restaurant that is on the highest floor of a building, I thought the restaurant looked spectacular although I think that view would make me dizzy. It seems like it will be a normal night where two people try to meet, but fate has other plans and as soon as Violet arrives at the place she starts receiving some strange messages on her phone through an app called DigiDrop that works like AirDrop.

Una de las veces que fui al cine este año, creo que cuando fui a ver Captain America, vi el tráiler de Drop (2025) y me llamó la atención y decidí verla, por suerte la vi en casa porque el final no fue lo que esperaba jejeje pero no estuvo mal al inicio, esta película dirigida por Christopher Landon, el mismo tipo que de Happy Death Day y Freaky tiene una trama simple aunque te pone a pensar un poco si tratas de averiguar quién es el que está fastidiando a Violet que es la protagonista. Violet es una madre que ha quedado viuda y decide darse una oportunidad y salir en una cita después de un pasado bastante turbio, que se muestra en la primera escena de la película, de hecho es bastante intensa y me confundió un poco, pensé que estaba comenzando por el final pero no fue así. Ella conoció a Henry en una de esas aplicaciones de citas y tiene un tiempo chatando con el pero nunca le había aceptado una salida hasta que por fin se conocieron en persona y fueron a un restaurante súper elegante que está en el piso más alto de un edificio, el restaurante me pareció espectacular aunque creo que esa vista me daría vértigo. Parece que será una noche normal donde dos personas intentan conocerse, pero el destino tiene otros planes y apenas Violet llega al lugar empieza a recibir unos mensajes extraños en su teléfono a través de una aplicación llamada DigiDrop que funciona como el AirDrop.

Violet tries to dissimulate and continue with the date as if nothing happened, at the same time she must comply with what the stalker asks her and is watching her from somewhere in the restaurant, in this part I began to doubt everyone even Henry himself but when the request was to kill him I decided to take him off the list, the truth is that the film makes you think although the final part seemed to me a little deceitful hehehe.

Al principio los mensajes que le mandan son solo memes tontos que parecen que alguien solo quiere fastidiar su paciencia, pero rápidamente la situación se vuelve escalofriante cuando descubre que quien sea que esté enviando estos mensajes tiene a su hijo y a su hermana como rehenes en su casa, y le dice que siga sus instrucciones al pie de la letra si quiere volver a verlos con vida. Lo más loco de todo es que entre las instrucciones está la orden de matar a su cita, que es un fotógrafo que parece ser el hombre perfecto y que no tiene ni idea de lo que está pasando. Violet intenta disimular y seguir con la cita como si nada pasara, al mismo tiempo que debe cumplir con lo que el acosador le pide y la está observando desde algún lugar del restaurante, en esta parte comencé a dudar de todos hasta del mismo Henry pero cuando la petición era que lo mataran a él decidí sacarlo de la lista, lo cierto es que la película te hace pensar aunque la parte final me pareció un poco embustera jejeje.

The movie has a good pace and I kept my attention with Violet doing everything to follow the stalker's instructions and trying not to look crazy in front of Henry, who shows a lot of patience even though the date is not going very well, there were moments of tension like when she must steal the memory from Henry's camera or try to poison his drink, but there are also scenes of humor given by the waiter of the restaurant that I must confess I always thought he was involved because he was very exaggerated but I was wrong, the one I thought the least turned out to be the culprit. Meghann Fahy's performance as Violet is very good because she manages to convey the terror and desperation of a mother who would do anything to protect her child. Brandon Sklenarr as Henry also does a good job, he is too good to be true and that's why at first I doubted him, I must say that I fell in love with this man for his role as Atlas in It Ends with Us and in a certain part I also wanted to see the movie because of him.

La película tiene buen ritmo y me mantuve atenta con Violet haciendo todo para seguir las instrucciones del acosador y tratar de no parecer una loca frente a Henry, quien muestra mucha paciencia a pesar de que la cita no va muy bien, hubo momentos de tensión como cuando ella debe robar la memoria de la cámara de Henry o intentar envenenar su trago, pero también hay escenas de humor dadas por el mesero del restaurante que debo confesar siempre pensé que él estaba involucrado porque era muy exagerado pero me equivoqué, el que menos pensé resultó ser el culpable. La actuación de Meghann Fahy como Violet es muy buena porque logra transmitir el terror y la desesperación de una madre que haría cualquier cosa por proteger a su hijo. Brandon Sklenarr como Henry también hace un buen trabajo, es demasiado bueno para ser verdad y por eso al principio dudé de el, debo decir que yo quedé enamorada de este hombre por su papel de Atlas en It Ends with Us y en cierta parte también quise ver la película por el.

At the beginning everything was going well but in the final part something happened that almost took me out of the story, there is a part where something happens with a window, I don't want to say much but I think it's the most deceitful part I've seen in a movie, it blew all the laws of physics, really the scene is impossible and made me laugh when I really should be in tension, that was super weird and I think it rather damaged the whole tone that the movie had achieved up to that point, there are also action scenes that seem to be taken from another movie completely different, and although I understand that Landon wanted to end with a big finale, I think he went a little overboard, of course it doesn't mean that these crazy moments ruined the whole movie but they did transform it into something different than what you expected at the beginning.

Al principio todo iba bien pero ya la parte final pasó algo que casi me saca por completo de la historia, hay una parte que pasa algo con una ventana, no quiero decir mucho pero creo que es la parte más embustera que he visto en una película, se volaron todas las leyes de la física, realmente la escena es imposible y me hizo reír cuando realmente debería estar en tensión, eso fue súper raro y creo que más bien daño todo el tono que la película había logrado hasta ese momento, también hay escenas de acción que parecen sacadas de otra película completamente diferente, y aunque entiendo que Landon quería terminar con un gran final, creo que se excedió un poco, claro no significa que estos momentos locos hayan arruinado toda la película pero sí la transformaron en algo diferente a lo que esperabas al principio.

I partly liked Drop because it didn't bore me and always kept me guessing until the end, it surprised me and made me doubt my theories which is an achievement for a thriller of this kind, the score I give it is 6/10 because of the mistake in the final part, but I don't see it as a bad score, the director knew how to create a movie that kept the pace and I was hooked wondering all the time who was behind everything and how Violet would get out of this impossible situation, the performances are good, the plot is intriguing, and although it has its ups and downs, it's worth it if you like thrillers with some black humor, I think if you don't think too much about the logic behind everything you can enjoy it more.

En parte me gustó Drop porque no me aburrió y siempre me mantuvo adivinando hasta el final, me sorprendió y me hizo dudar de mis teorías lo cual es un logro para un thriller de este tipo, la puntuación que le doy es de 6/10 por el error de la parte final, pero no lo veo como un puntaje malo, el director supo crear una película que mantuvo el ritmo y estuve enganchada preguntándome todo el tiempo quién estaba detrás de todo y cómo saldría Violet de esta situación imposible, las actuaciones son buenas, la trama es intrigante, y aunque tiene sus altibajos, vale la pena si te gustan los thrillers con algo de humor negro, creo que si no piensas demasiado en la lógica que hay detrás de todo la puedes disfrutar más.
