Land of Bad is a military action thriller directed by William Eubank, I always like to see this kind of movies and more for the protagonist who is Liam Hemsworth the most handsome sergeant I've ever seen hehehe, the movie is not as raw as I expected, there is nothing dark or that generates much suspense and makes you wonder what will happen next, it is more a controlled action movie that goes over safe most of the time. Although I was surprised by the realism of some aspects of the film such as the combat scenes, which don't shy away from showing the brutality of war.

Land of Bad es un thriller de acción militar dirigido por William Eubank, siempre me gusta ver este tipo de películas y más por el protagonista que es Liam Hemsworth el sargento más guapo que he visto jejeje, la película no es tan cruda como esperaba, no hay nada oscuro ni que genere mucho suspenso y te haga preguntarte qué va a ocurrir a continuación, es más una película de acción controlada que va sobre seguro la mayor parte del tiempo. Aunque si me sorprendió el realismo de algunos aspectos de la película como las escenas de combate, que no se privan de mostrar la brutalidad de la guerra.

Land of Bad follows a Delta Force team on a mission in the Philippines to rescue a CIA agent who was gathering intelligence on a Russian arms dealer, the team is made up of some expert soldiers and a drone pilot Eddie who is the one who watches and gives aerial support through a drone drone. The whole operation is going according to plan until a terrorist arrives on the scene and there is a firefight where Kinney is separated from the others, who are presumed dead. Kinney is left alone in enemy terrain and must rely on Reaper's radio guidance to get through the jungle and get to his extraction point, that's what they call it in this type of mission. It's not that it's a very original plot, in fact it's a lot like the Behind Enemy Lines movie which by the way that movie I've seen about ten times because I liked it so much, and this plot is the same as we see in those military movies the only thing is that it's more modern because of the use of drones and creates an interesting relationship between Kinney on the ground and Reaper in his control room, this is achieved because the chemistry between Crowe and Liam Hemsworth is what drives the movie even though they don't share physical scenes together. For me this is at the heart of the plot because two strangers must trust each other in order for Kinney to survive.

Land of Bad sigue a un equipo Delta Force en una misión en Filipinas para rescatar a un agente de la CIA que estaba reuniendo información sobre un traficante de armas ruso, el equipo está formado por algunos soldados expertos y por un piloto de drones Eddie que es el que vigila y da apoyo aéreo a través de un dron teledirigido. Toda la operación se está dando según lo planeado hasta que un terrorista llega al lugar y hay un tiroteo donde Kinney queda separado de los demás, que a parte son dados por muertos. Kinney se queda solo en el terreno enemigo y debe confiar en la guía de Reaper por radio para atravesar la jungla y llegar a su punto de extracción, así le llaman en este tipo de misiones. Esto es más una historia de supervivencia en la que Kinney se enfrenta a un obstáculo tras otro pero todo cambia cuando descubre que algunos de sus compañeros de equipo podrían seguir vivos y presos, lo que le obliga a tomar una difícil decisión entre sobrevivir o rescatarlos.
No es que sea una trama uy original, de hecho se parece mucho a la película de Behind Enemy Lines que por cierto esa película la he visto como unas diez veces porque me gustó mucho, y esta trama es la misma que vemos en esas películas militares lo único es que es más moderna por el uso de drones y crea una relación interesante entre Kinney sobre el terreno y Reaper en su sala de control, esto se logra porque la química entre Crowe y Liam Hemsworth es lo que impulsa la película aunque no compartan escenas físicas juntos. Para mí esto es el centro de la trama porque dos desconocidos deben confiar en el uno en el otro para que Kinney pueda sobrevivir.

Russell Crowe is Reaper and even though you think it's a boring role because he spends the movie sitting in a chair watching screens he manages to inject personality making his work seem authentic instead of forced and Liam Hemsworth does a solid job as Kinney, he has good physical stamina and this makes the action scenes good, he looks vulnerable and at some moments he shows fear and doubt which doesn't make him look like the typical action hero, I quite liked this about his performance because it makes you believe he is really looking to survive and the best thing is that he is able to do it. Also appearing are Milo Ventimiglia, Ricky Whittle and Luke Hemsworth as the team of soldiers.

Russell Crowe es Reaper y aunque creas que es un papel aburrido porque se pasa la película sentado en una silla mirando pantallas consigue inyectar personalidad haciendo que su trabajo parezca autentico en lugar de forzado y Liam Hemsworth hace un trabajo sólido como Kinney, tiene buena resistencia física y esto hace que las escenas de acción sean buenas, se ve vulnerable y en algunos momnetos muestra miedo y dudas cosa que no hace que parezca el típico héroe de acción, esto me gustó bastante de su actuación porque te hace creer que de verdad está buscando sobrevivir y lo mejor es que es capaz de hacerlo. También aparecen Milo Ventimiglia, Ricky Whittle y Luke Hemsworth como el equipo de soldados.

The action scenes in Land of Bad are well done, the gunfights are intense and visceral, the hand to hand fighting is brutal and realistic and so are the drone attacks, but there is something that disappointed me and that was the commonality of the script, a lot of military clichés and they try to humanize the soldiers too much and it comes off as forced. There is a subplot with Reaper about his pregnant wife that I found unnecessary and also those scenes in the base where the soldiers are more interested in watching the basketball game than doing their job is like they are throwing a point about military inefficiency. It's not only this I think there are many changes in tone between the intense survival story and the scenes on the base, for example there is a part where Kinney is tortured and Reaper is making a purchase, this seemed out of place and did not fit as it should, for these things the score I give to Land of Band is 6.5/10 not that it's bad but I really don't think it deserves a 7. The terrorists that appear also seemed disappointing to me they are like more of an obstacle that Kinney has to overcome, instead of real terrorists.

Las escenas de acción de Land of Bad están bien hechas, los tiroteos son intensos y viscerales, la pelea cuerpo a cuerpo es brutal y realista y los ataques con drones también, pero hay algo que me decepcionó y fue lo común del guión, muchos clichés militares y tratan de humanizar mucho a los soldados y resulta forzado. Hay una subtrama con Reaper sobre su mujer embarazada que me pareció innecesaria y también esas escenas en la base en las que los soldados están más interesados en ver el juego de basquet que en hacer su trabajo es como su estuvieran lanzando una punta sobre la ineficacia militar. No es solo esto yo creo que hay muchos cambios de tono entre la intensa historia de supervivencia y las escenas en la base, por ejemplo hay una parte donde torturan a Kinney y Reaper está haciendo una compra, esto me pareció fuera de lugar y no encajó como debería, por estas cosas la puntuación que le doy a Land of Band es de 6.5/10 no es que sea mala pero la verdad no creo que merezca un 7. Los terroristas que aparecen también me parecieron decepcionantes son como más un obstáculo que Kinney tiene que superar, en lugar de unos verdaderos terroristas.

In the final part Kinney discovers that some of his comrades are still alive and prisoners and instead of listening to Reaper to go to the extraction point, Kinney decides he can't leave his brothers in arms behind and tries to rescue them, he goes into the terrorists' cave and in that part I thought I was watching Saw hehehehehe, but well he manages to free his comrades even though they are still in enemy territory. Reaper coordinates a series of drone strikes to clear the way to the exit point. The ending felt good because the whole movie was Kinney putting his trust in a stranger thousands of miles away and they come out triumphant, although this movie is not different from the others of military genre meets the requirements and serves if you want to see something action that is not too heavy and does not make you think, Land of Band can work.

En la parte final Kinney descubre que algunos de sus compañeros siguen vivos y prisioneros y en vez de hacerle caso a Reaper de ir al punto de extracción, Kinney decide que no puede dejar atrás a sus hermanos de armas e intenta rescatarlos, se mete en la cueva de los terroristas y en esa parte pensé que estaba viendo Saw jejejeje, pero bueno logra liberar a sus compañeros aunque igual siguen en territorio enemigo. Reaper coordina una serie de ataques con aviones no tripulados para despejarles el camino hacia el punto de salida. El final se sintió bien porque toda la película fue Kinney poniendo su confianza en un desconocido a miles de kilómetros y salen triunfadores, aunque está película no es difenrete de las otras de genero militar cumple con los requisitos y sirve si quieres ver algo de acción que no sea muy pesado y no te haga reflexionar, Land of Band puede funcionar.
