After watching the last installment of Venom it gave me some nostalgia because I feel that Tom Hardy is still the only thing that keeps this franchise afloat but I also wondered if this trilogy closing was really necessary because it left me like when you finish a series that you don't know if you liked it or just watched it because you were already hooked, the movie has good moments but it also has parts that make you think why the fuck Sony keeps doing these things without Spider-Man. One thing I didn't like is that it's many things at once, sometimes it's a road trip comedy, other times it wants to be an emotional drama about friendship and suddenly it turns into a generic action movie with CGI all over the place. Eddie Brock is on the run all over the United States with his symbiote attached, from Mexico to Las Vegas to the desert and ending up at a super-secret military base where everything obviously goes to hell, but instead of feeling like he's in danger I was always left waiting for the next bad joke or the next forced reference to the previous movies.

Después de ver la última entrega de Venom me dio algo de nostalgia por que siento que Tom Hardy sigue siendo lo único que mantiene esta franquicia a flote pero también me pregunté si este cierre de trilogía era realmente necesario porque me dejó como cuando terminas una serie que no sabes si te gustó o nada más la viste porque ya estabas enganchado, la película tiene momentos buenos pero también tiene partes que te hacen pensar por qué carajos Sony sigue haciendo estas cosas sin Spider-Man. Algo que no me gustó es que es muchas cosas a la vez, a veces es una comedia de viaje por carretera, otras veces quiere ser un drama emocional sobre la amistad y de repente se convierte en una película de acción genérica con CGI por todos lados. Eddie Brock anda huyendo por todo Estados Unidos con su simbionte pegado, desde México hasta Las Vegas pasando por el desierto y terminando en una base militar súper secreta donde obviamente todo se va al carajo, pero en lugar de sentir que está en peligro siempre me quedé esperando el siguiente chiste malo o la siguiente referencia forzada a las películas anteriores.

Tom Hardy is still the main reason I always watch these movies, to me it seems like the guy really gets into character and manages to create that weird chemistry between Eddie and Venom that is the only thing that sets this franchise apart from the rest of the superhero garbage Hollywood brings us every month. When Hardy is on screen doing his weird voices and talking to himself as if he were a married couple fighting over who drives the car the movie works and even gets a good laugh, the problem is that the rest of the actors are too much like equals they don't generate any impact. Chiwetel Ejiofor does what he can as the military man obsessed with capturing aliens but his character is poorly written and I never knew if he was good or bad or confused, Juno Temple appears as the scientist who is obviously going to become a symbiote later on but her backstory about losing her brother to a lightning bolt is so bad that it seems like she was added just because. The only moments where the movie really shines are when Eddie and Venom are alone on the road, talking about life and doing stupid shit like dancing with Mrs. Chen in a Las Vegas casino, I liked that dance scene a lot but then the regular action comes in and it's all messed up again.

Tom Hardy sigue siendo la razón principal por la que siempre veo estas películas, a mí parecer el tipo de verdad se mete en el personaje y logra crear esa química extraña entre Eddie y Venom que es lo único que diferencia esta franquicia del resto de basura de superhéroes que nos trae Hollywood cada mes. Cuando Hardy está en pantalla haciendo sus voces raras y hablando consigo mismo como si fuera una pareja de casados peleando por quien maneja el carro la película funciona y hasta da risa de buena manera, el problema es que el resto de los actores son demasiado equis no generan ningún impacto. Chiwetel Ejiofor hace lo que puede como el militar obsesionado con capturar aliens pero su personaje está mal escrito y nunca supe si era bueno o malo o estaba confundido, Juno Temple aparece como la científica que obviamente se va a convertir en simbionte más adelante pero su historia de trasfondo sobre perder a su hermano por un rayo está tan mal que parece que la agregaron porque si y ya. Los únicos momentos donde la película realmente brilla son cuando Eddie y Venom están solos en el camino, hablando sobre la vida y haciendo pendejadas como bailar con Mrs. Chen en un casino de Las Vegas, esa escena del baile me gustó bastante pero después llega la acción común y se echa a perder todo otra vez.

Visually the movie is okay although it is nothing spectacular, Venom's special effects look better than in the previous movies but there are still moments where it looks like a video game of the last generation, especially in that part when he is running through the desert riding a horse which is obviously pure CGI. The action scenes are also good but for me they lack that creativity that I really expected after three movies, we already know that Venom can make tentacles, we already know that he can turn into a motorcycle, we already know that he can eat heads, but here he doesn't do anything new that justifies making another movie about the same character. The main bad guy is a guy named Knull who is supposedly the god of the symbiotes, he appears about five minutes into the whole movie and most of the time he's sitting in a chair looking down like he's depressed, they may be saving him for future movies but here he was no threat he was more boring than intimidating, his segudiors don't help much either because they are basically black bugs running towards the camera making weird noises. The movie tries to make up for the lack of a real threat by throwing in a bunch of military scientists and minor aliens but it never manages to create a real sense of danger, you always know that Eddie and Venom are going to come out okay in the end because they are the main characters and Sony needs to keep the franchise alive to keep making money.

Visualmente la película está bien aunque no es nada espectacular, los efectos especiales de Venom se ven mejor que en las películas anteriores pero aún hay momentos donde parece videojuego de la generación pasada, más que todo en esa parte cuando está corriendo por el desierto montado en un caballo que obviamente es puro CGI. Las escenas de acción también están bien pero para mí les falta esa creatividad que la verdad esperaba después de tres películas, ya sabemos que Venom puede hacer tentáculos, ya sabemos que puede convertirse en moto, ya sabemos que puede comer cabezas, pero aquí no hace nada nuevo que justifique hacer otra película sobre el mismo personaje. El malo principal es un tal Knull que supuestamente es el dios de los simbiontes, aparece como cinco minutos en toda la peli y la mayoría del tiempo está sentado en una silla viendo hacia abajo como si estuviera deprimido, puede que lo esten guardando para futuras películas pero aquí no fue ninguna amenza fue más aburrido que intimidante, sus segudiores tampoco ayudan mucho porque son básicamente bichos negros que corren hacia la cámara haciendo ruidos raros. La película intenta compensar la falta de una amenza de verdad metiendo a un montón de científicos militares y aliens menores pero nunca logra crear una sensación real de peligro, siempre sabes que Eddie y Venom van a salir bien al final porque son los protagonistas y Sony necesita mantener la franquicia viva para seguir haciendo dinero.

What frustrates me the most about The Last Dance is that it had potential and the idea that Eddie and Venom have to part ways forever could have been really emotional if they had developed it right, but instead they make up a whole story about invading aliens and secret military bases that I already feel like I've seen a thousand times in other movies. The script feels like it was written by many people every new character that appears is there to serve a specific function in the plot but they are never like real people with motivations of their own, the hippie family that appears in the middle of the movie could have been fun but only serves to move Eddie from one place to another, the military scientist that appears at the end could have been an interesting change but his revelation is more random than anything else. Even the ending where Venom sacrifices himself to save Eddie and the world is pretty forced because I never felt like there was enough reason to believe they were really going to part ways for good, I know Sony is going to find a way to bring him back in the next movie because these franchises never really end they just take breaks until they need more money. The movie is almost two hours long but to me it felt like they cut important scenes to get more action in, there are moments where characters make decisions that don't make sense just because the script needs them to be in a certain place at a certain time.

Lo que mas me frustra de The Last Dance es que tenía potencial y la idea de que Eddie y Venom tienen que separarse para siempre pudo haber sido realmente emotiva si la hubieran desarrollado bien, pero en lugar de eso se inventan toda una historia sobre aliens invasores y bases militares secretas que ya siento que he visto mil veces en otras películas. El guión es como si hubiera sido escrito por muchas personas cada personaje nuevo que aparece está ahí para servir una función específica en la trama pero nunca son como personas reales con motivaciones propias, la familia hippie que aparece a la mitad de la película pudo haber sido divertida pero solo sirve para mover a Eddie de un lugar a otro, el científico militar que aparece al final pudo haber sido un cambio interesante pero su revelación es más random que otra cosa. Incluso el final donde Venom se sacrifica para salvar a Eddie y al mundo es bastante forzado porque nunca sentí que hibo razones suficientes para creer que realmente se iban a separar para siempre, se que Sony va a encontrar la manera de traerlo de vuelta en la siguiente película porque estas franquicias nunca terminan de verdad solo toman descansos hasta que necesitan mas dinero. La película dura casi dos horas pero a mi me pareciuó como si hubieran cortado escenas importantes para meter más acción, hay momentos donde los personajes toman decisiones que no tienen sentido solo porque el guión necesita que estén en cierto lugar en cierto momento.

For me Venom The Last Dance is exactly what one would expect from Sony trying to make superhero movies without having the rights to the most important characters and it's not that I have the war mounted on them but come on do something better, it's entertaining if you turn off your brain and just want to see Tom Hardy do weird voices for two hours, but as a trilogy closer for mpi it was quite incomplete and unsatisfying. I thought it didn't bring anything new to the universe of these characters nor really justify its existence beyond the commercial aspect, if you're a fan of the first two movies you'll probably enjoy this one too and well I actually saw it so I wanted to complete the trilogy but don't expect anything out of this world it's just going to entertain you and that's it. My score for this last part of Venom is 6.5/10, I think it's the typical throwaway entertainment product that Hollywood produces when they don't feel like taking real risks, it's not something that deserves an enthusiastic recommendation.

Para mí Venom The Last Dance es exactamente lo que uno esperaría de Sony intentando hacer películas de superhéroes sin tener los derechos de los personajes más importantes y no es que les tengo la guerra montada sino que vamos hagan algo mejor, es entretenida si apagas el cerebro y solo quieres ver a Tom Hardy hacer voces raras por dos horas, pero como cierre de trilogía para mpi fue bastante incompleta y poco satisfactoria. Me pareció que no aporta nada nuevo al universo de estos personajes ni justifica realmente su existencia mas allá del aspecto comercial, si eres fan de las primeras dos películas probablemente vas a disfrutar esta también y bueno yo realmente la vi por eso quería completar la trilogía pero no esperes nada de otro mundo solo te va a entretener y ya. Mi puntuación de esta ultima parte de Venom es 6.5/10, opino que es el típico producto de entretenimiento descartable que Hollywood produce cuando no tiene ganas de tomar riesgos reales, no es algo que merezca una recomendación entusiasmada.
