What comes to your mind when you hear the word, “Linux”? Or “free software movements”?

Growing up, I had a few misconceptions about them that Linux and the free software movement were started by the same person but Revolution OS, a documentary released in 2001 shed a light on the history of free software movement, Linux and Operating Systems. They feature Richard Stallman, Linus Torvald and Larry Agustin along with some pioneers of the movement. While discussing the operating system you will get to know the history behind each person who created it. However, this documentary isn’t for anyone because the delivery of it was rather tedious and since released almost more than 10 years ago, the cinematography isn’t the best there is. Still if you’re into free software movement and want to know more about Linux and GNU operating systems, from this documentary you can learn the start of it. It’s quite informational and even if you're watching it in 2023, the information is still relevant. Another important part about this documentary is that you also learn about the idea of licensing such as copyleft and how it’s different from copyright. This documentary runs for an hour and in my rating, this earned me 3.5 out of 5 because the delivery at some point was rather jumbled and suddenly out of focus from its original title and topic.

It may work for me because I don't know the history of Linux and I prefer to watch movies rather than read books on these topics. 😉

reading the history of it would be a little too much :) while watching it would be a lot more easier.
