Alice in Wonderland, the movie (Review) ESP/ENG
Hello, my dear friends, a few days ago I finished reading the book Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, but while I was reading it I kept making comparisons with the first movie they released based on this book (at least the first one I saw because the first adaptation of Carroll's book was made in 1903), so I chose to watch it again and I rediscovered the wonderful magic that this 1951 film possesses.
Hola, mis queridos amigos, hace algunos días terminé de leer el libro Alicia en el País de las Maravillas de Lewis Carroll, pero mientras lo leía no dejaba de hacer comparaciones con la primera película que sacaron basada en este libro (al menos la primera que yo vi porque la primera adaptación del libro de Carroll se hizo en 1903), así que opté por verla nuevamente y redescubrí la magia maravillosa que posee este film de 1951.

One of the things I noticed was that in this film adaptation they left out many of the characters and situations (as happens in most adaptations) but in this case I think it was a success because honestly the scene of "The fake Turtle" and the first appearance of the Cheshire cat in the duchess' house are very boring and do not add much to the plot, instead they included several totally new musicals (since it is a Disney adaptation)such as "The Flowers".
Una de las cosas que noté fue que en esta adaptación cinematográfica obviaron muchos de los personaje y situaciones (como sucede en la mayoría de las adaptaciones) pero en este caso creo que fue un acierto porque honestamente la escena de "La Tortuga falsa" y la primera aparición del gato de Cheshire que fue en la casa de la duquesa, son muy aburridas y no aportan mucho a la trama, en su lugar incluyeron varios musicales (ya que es una adaptación de Disney) totalmente nuevos como "La fiesta del jardín"

Another of the best musicals that this film has is "Happy Unbirthday" which represents more or less what was the chapter "Tea Time" in the original work of Carroll, the dialogues between the March Hare, the Dormouse and the hatter kill us laughing for being so meaningless and yet with all the sense in the world if you analyze it in depth, the Dormouse and the Hatter kill us with laughter for being so meaningless and at the same time with all the sense in the world if you analyze it in depth, because this is precisely one of the scenes where it is best represented (in an exaggerated way obviously) what was the extreme rigidity of Victorian society and its hypocritical gatherings.
Otro de los mejores musicales que tiene esta película es "Feliz no cumpleaños" que representa más o menos lo que fue el capítulo "La Hora del té" en la obra original de Carroll y también la escena de "El Reloj Loco" Los diálogos entre La Liebre de Marzo, el Lirón y el sombrerero nos matan de risa por ser tan carentes de sentido y a la vez con todo el sentido del mundo si lo analizas a profundidad, pues justamente esta es una de las escenas donde mejor se representa (de forma exagerada obviamente) lo que fue la extrema rigidez de la sociedad victoriana y sus tertulias hipócritas. Cada quien está sumergido en sus propios asuntos y escuchan a Alicia por compromiso, no porque realmente piensen que lo que ella dice tiene alguna importancia.

The aesthetics of this film is beautiful and reminds me a lot of the illustrations of John Tenniel, who illustrated the first editions of the book, however, obviously those of the film have more warmth, but one of the things I like the most is that we can perfectly notice the contrast between Alice who comes from the surface, the world of the "politically correct" and the other characters who are down there, the supposed "nuts".
La estética de esta película es preciosa y me recuerda mucho a las ilustraciones de John Tenniel, quien ilustró las primeras ediciones del libro, sin embargo, obviamente las de la película tienen mayor calidez, pero una de las cosas que más me gusta es que podemos notar perfectamente el contraste entre Alicia que viene de la superficie, el mundo de lo "políticamente correcto" y los demás personajes que se encuentran allá abajo, los supuestos "chiflados"

There is one scene in particular that always gave me a lot of laughter and it is where Alice, after ingesting just one of the parts of the mushroom, grows out of proportion and while doing so runs over (unintentionally) a bird and its nest, then the bird mistakes her for a serpent and starts shouting "Serpent!" and accuses her of wanting to steal its eggs. When I saw this scene as a child, I did not understand why the bird accused her of being a serpent if Alice did not even look like one, but when I read the book I understood, what happens is that this was the only time in which the transformation occurred differently, because only her neck grew, which effectively gave her the appearance of a serpent, so I think that in the film adaptation they should have done the same for the scene to make more sense.
Hay una escena en particular que siempre me dio muchísima risa y es donde Alicia, después de ingerir tan solo una de las partes del hongo, crece desmesuradamente y mientras lo hace atropella (sin querer) a un ave y su nido, entonces el ave la confunde con una serpiente y comienza a gritar "¡Serpienteeee!" y la acusa de querer robar sus huevos. Cuando yo veía esta escena de niña, no entendía porqué el ave la acusaba de ser una serpiente si Alicia ni siquiera se parecía a una, pero cuando leí el libro lo entendí, lo que sucede es que esta fue la única ocasión en la cual la transformación se dio de forma distinta, pues únicamente creció su cuello, lo que le dio efectivamente una apariencia de serpiente, por lo tanto creo que en la adaptación cinematrográfica debieron hacer lo mismo para que la escena cobrara mayor sentido.

And as a last point I just have to leave you with my favorite song "Paiting the roses red" not only I like the melody, and the perfect harmony of the voices, very much in the style of the time, but also because they were very skillful in representing the fear reflected in the cards, I even feel that there is a lot of depth in this scene because the paint that the cards spill everywhere could be a representation of the blood that constantly spills the victims of the evil queen, even one of them makes the gesture of the act of slitting his throat, passing the brush full of red paint on his neck, it is a scene that can be both funny and a little grotesque, but undoubtedly they did a brilliant job of adaptation.
Y como último punto solo me queda dejarlos con mi canción favorita "Las Rosas hay que pintar" no solo me gusta por la melodía, y la perfecta armonía de las voces, muy al estilo de su época, sino porque fueron muy hábiles al representar el miedo reflejado en los naipes, incluso siento que hay mucha profundidad en esta escena ya que la pintura que los naipes derraman por todos lados puede ser una representación de la sangre que constantemente derraman las víctimas de la malvada reina, incluso, uno de ellos hace el ademán del acto de degollarse, pasándose la brocha llena de pintura roja por el cuello, es una escena que puede ser tan graciosa como un poco grotesca, pero sin lugar a dudas hicieron un trabajo brillante de adaptación.

I loved this movie as soon as it came out, most of all I liked the big blue caterpillar named Absolem, a very funny character in this movie from 1951, I personally enjoyed this movie a lot, even the one that came out in 2010 if I remember correctly.
Very good were all these movies, really that of all that has created disney, this is my favorite, good post friend greetings.
Yes, it is an awesome film and it is even more so in Tim Burton's 2010 film as it compiles actors of the stature of Johnny Depp, Helena Bohan Carter and of course the great talent of Alan Rickman in the voice of the caterpillar Absolem, a character quite ironic as important, since it was he who told Alice how to use the powers of the fungus that made her grow or shrink.
That's right, one of the scenes that I loved the most in this movie is the Absolem scene, very original and unique.

1951, that was a long long time ago lol.
I have also read Alice in wonderland but I'm sure the one I read wasn't the original one written by Lewis Carroll. One thing that can make me willingly go back in time to see something this old is the music, I secretly love musicals and Disney does a pretty good job of delivering in this department.
I always wonder why most movie adaptations of books end up showing an incomplete plot in comparison to the books but I guess I'll go into all that in some other place at some other time.

I think it is difficult and even impossible to cram all the content of the books into only two hours of movie, so I can justify the fact that they are not complete, as long as they do a very good job of adapting them with the scenes they decide to have appear in the movie.

Esta pelicula la vi de pequeño, luego vi las que sacaron mas adelante, y debo decir que esta pelicula siempre me dio miedo (de pequeño) sobre todo la parte de las ostras?
Donde llegan dos hombres, las sacan del agua y se la comen todas (por lo menos uno de ellos sin mal no recuerdo)
xD para mi fue demasiado turbio, sobre todo el final... Me da la impresion de que Alicia siempre fue Incomprendida.
Yo también la vi cuando era niña y no te puedo negar que me resultaba un tanto incómoda en algunas escenas, quizá porque me dejaba llevar por el aura de Alicia cuando lloraba porque se sentía sola y perdida siendo tan pequeña.
La escena de las ostras está hecha precisamente con esa intención, para generar miedo en los niños y que así no piensen en confiar en extraños, pero sí que daba miedo 😲
Es cierto, esa es una de las diferencias que noté entre el libro y la película, al final, por la forma en que le habla su hermana, da la impresión de que Alicia es una niña incomprendida y muy poco tomada en cuenta, en cambio en el libro, si bien la escena es parecida, su hermana se queda contemplando a Alicia con ternura y nostalgia de su propia niñez perdida mientras la niña se aleja hacia la casa.
I adored this movie as a child, and I wish it hadn't been overtaken by the new live action adaptations... more kids should watch the original cartoon. Thanks for the thoughtful review!
