Hello, how are you, friends? Today I want to share with you a French movie that I found by chance but whose story, although a bit absurd, I found quite interesting, especially for the moral, it is "Case Depart" or Casilla de Salida in Spanish, without further ado, let's begin.

Overview/Resumen

Joël Grosdésir is an irresponsible guy who lives in trouble, he does not have a job and does not take care of his daughter financially, for this reason his mother decides to throw him out of the house, but just at that moment he receives a call announcing that his father is about to die and wants to see him, so he decides to travel, on the way he meets his half brother Régis, who is an elitist millionaire who denies his roots and despises the poor. Both brothers go to meet their father who tells them that he will bequeath them something special for being his only two sons, it is the letter of freedom of one of their ancestors, but both brothers scoff at this claiming that it would only serve to sell it to a museum and end up tearing the letter.

But one of their aunts who was watching them astonished decides to give them a lesson, because she was somewhat esoteric, somehow sends them to the past, to 1780 on an island in the West Indies, where they are captured and sold as slaves, there both are bought by an evil landowner who mistreats them, however, being in their new painful situation, both will discover many things that will allow them to recognize how uncouth and lucky they were, and only when they are ready they will be able to return to their future.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión

What I liked most about this movie is its greatest teaching, "No one knows what he has until he loses it" Régis, for example, disowned his own race, despised the poor and did not value his freedom and privileges because he had not had to work hard to get them unlike his ancestors, Joël for his part lived complaining about the supposed racism of which he was "victim" all as an excuse for not finding a job, until he realized what real racism was and all that his ancestors had to go through because of slavery: physical abuse and humiliation.

One scene that I found funny was when both brothers started running to avoid being captured by the slave hunters, and then Joël starts recording with the cell phone he had with him to have some material to show and for everyone to realize the mistreatment they were subjecting the blacks to.

Another scene I enjoyed was when both brothers were helped by the Jew, who tells them that his people had also suffered a lot because of the prejudices of society, then they tell him that they understand him and talk to him about Hittler, the man obviously had no idea what they were talking about.

Since it was difficult for me to find any scene in English or Spanish, I will leave you this fragment in its original language, in it the Jew asks both brothers who this Adolf (Hittler) is, but they, feeling a little uncomfortable about it, just describe him physically, that he had a mustache and such things.

For a moment I even hated Régis because he wanted to take advantage of his talents since he evidently knew how to read, write and even play the piano, and with this he earned the privilege of sleeping in a more comfortable place, in exchange for being a sort of "boss" for the other slaves, including his brother, he gave up the idea of running away, and even suggested that they should try to adapt to their new life, but fortunately he gave up his terrible attitude, above all I hated him because he was able to throw on his brother the urine that was in a bucket, and at that moment he did not even care that his brother had been previously whipped.

This story is quite entertaining and leaves us with several lessons, I really recommend it, if it is possible to find it in Spanish or English, French cinema has created good films that very rarely come to light, but worth finding to enjoy. Thank you very much for giving me a chance and for reading this review.
