CineTV Contest: Beverly Hillbillies (ESP/ENG)

Hello friends, how are you? I'm back in one of these wonderful @cinetv contests, this time I found it particularly interesting because we should talk about vintage technology in films, and after thinking about it for a long time in which I almost gave up, came to my memory a movie I saw when I was a child, back in the 90s, it is a remake, but I really liked it and I think it could define very well the theme of this week for the contest, it's Beberly Hirbillies.

Estoy de nuevo en uno de estos maravillosos concursos de @cinetv, en esta ocasión me pareció particularmente interesante debido a que debemos hablar de la tecnología vintage dentro de las películas, y luego de pensarlo por largo rato en el que casi me rindo, llegó a mi memoria una película que vi cuando era niña, allá en los años 90, se trata de un remake, pero me gustó mucho y creo que podría definir muy bien el tema de esta semana para el concurso, se trata de Beberly Hirbillies.

First let me give you some context so that you understand what I am talking about. The film tells the story of Jed Camplett is a country man who lives modestly with his daughter Elly May and his mother-in-law Granny, life is very hard in the countryside and they don't know about technology because they live on the fringes of society, culture and customs of their times, practically living like Amish, but one day Jed discovers a dark and viscous substance on their property, So, after the Camplett's property is bought from them for a high price, they move to California, especially to a mansion in Beberly Hills where they have funny cultural clashes with their neighbours and other people due to their anachronistic and wild lifestyle.

En primer lugar permítanme darles un poco de contexto para que entiendan de que hablo. La película nos cuenta la historia de Jed Camplett es un hombre de campo que vive modestamente junto a su hija Elly May y su suegra Granny, la vida es muy dura en el campo y no conocen de tecnología porque viven al margen de la sociedad, cultura y costumbres de sus tiempos, prácticamente viven como Amish, pero un buen día Jed descubre una sustancia oscura y viscosa en su propiedad, la cual resulta ser petróleo, de esta forma, luego de que les compraran las propiedades por un alto precio, los Camplett se van a vivir a California, especialmente a una mansión de Beberly Hills donde tienen graciosos choques culturales con sus vecinos y demás personas debido a su estilo de vida anacrónico y silvestre.

There are many things I would like to mention regarding this film but first of all I would like to mention mobile phones, we are talking about 1993, this technology was relatively new, it was not accessible to everyone, but to the higher strata of society, so it was quite natural that the Camplett didn't know about them. There is a very funny scene where Granny makes fun of a woman who is talking on her mobile phone, claiming that this device didn't even have a cable so she couldn't be talking to anyone 🤣 this would have been solved nowadays by just putting the call on speakerphone or directly making a video call, but mobile phones in the nineties were very precarious, I still remember those antennas 😆 anyway the Camplett were so innocent that they would have probably been scared to see a video call.

Hay muchas cosas que me gustaría mencionar con respecto a esta película pero en primer lugar me gustaría mencionar a los celulares, estamos hablando de 1993, esta tecnología era relativamente nueva, no era accesible para todos, sino para los estratos más altos de la sociedad, así que era bastante natural que los Camplett no los conocieran. Hay una escena muy graciosa en la que la abuela Granny se burla de una mujer que está hablando por su teléfono celular, alegando que ese aparato ni siquiera tenía cable así que no podía estar hablando con nadie 🤣 esto se hubiese solucionado actualmente tan solo con poner la llamada en altavoz o directamente hubiesen hecho una videollamada, pero los celulares en los noventa eran muy precarios, aún recuerdo esas antenas 😆 de todos modos los Camplett eran tan inocentes que muy probablemente se hubiesen asustado al ver una videollamada.

And the proof of this can be found in the following scene, where cousin Jethro thinks there is a woman trapped in the walls of the house, but it was only the intercom, it was a very funny scene. She says that she is trapped, but what happens is that she cannot enter the house because the grille is closed, but Jethro, showing his naivety but at the same time his nobility, promises to help her and sets out to break the wall.

Y la prueba de esto la encontraremos en la siguiente escena, donde el primo Jethro cree que hay una mujer atrapada en las paredes d la casa, pero solo se trataba del intercomunicados, fue una escena bastante graciosa. Ella dice que está atrapada, pero lo que sucede es que no puede entrar a la casa porque la reja está cerrada, pero Jethro haciendo gala de su ingenuidad pero al mismo tiempo de su nobleza promete ayudarla y se dispone a romper la pared.

Another scene worth highlighting is where Elly May is fighting in the gym and all the students receive a message on their computers (which look archaic nowadays) where they are warned of the fight, even a girl receives a fax to her car, nowadays it would be easier to send a simple Whatsaap to a group and this way the teachers would not have been alerted 🤣.

Otra escena digna de resaltar es donde Elly May está peleando en el gimnasio y todos los alumnos reciben un mensaje en sus computadoras (que se ven arcaicas hoy en día) donde les avisan de esa pelea, incluso una chica recibe un fax a su auto hoy en día sería más sencillo enviar un simple Whatsaap a un grupo y de esta forma no hubiesen alertado a los profesores.🤣

And that's all for today folks, I hope you can see this movie if you haven't already because even though it was trashed on Rotten Tomatoes, I loved it and it made me laugh a lot, unfortunately I couldn't find it anywhere today, Thank you very much for all your attention 😊.

Y esto ha sido todo por hoy amigos, espero que puedan ver esta película si aún no lo han hecho porque a pesar de que fue destrozada pro la crítica de Rotten Tomatoes, a mí me encantó y me hizo reír mucho, lamentablemente hoy en día no he podido encontrarla por ningún lado.
