Recientemente, la cartelera de Netflix me sugiere una película argentina, que al principio dudé de ver, ya que mi experiencia con las producciones de este país no siempre me resultan agradables, sobre todo lo que se ve por las cadenas de televisión abierta, pero obviamente Netflix es otra cosa.
La mujer de la fila, es una película protagonizada por Natalia Oreiro y dirigida por Benjamín Ávila, que se estrenó apenas dos meses atrás (septiembre 2025) que nos cuenta sobre la realidad poco difundida de las mujeres que van a visitar a sus familiares en la cárcel.
Sin ánimo de hacer spoiler, el relato no solo te lleva a ponerte en los zapatos de madres, hijas, hermanas o parejas que semana a semana acuden a los centros penitenciarios a ver a sus familiares, llevarles ropa, comida y otros enceres, pero también a comprender que más allá de los errores cometidos, el amor es una fuerza que mueve a lograr objetivos.
Con una actuación impecable, Oreiro le da vida a Andrea, una madre viuda de 3 hijos, que lucha por lograr que su hijo mayor quede libre, luego de ser arrestado. Realmente me sorprendió cómo logró darle tanta fuerza a ese papel, ya que siempre la he visto en interpretaciones más del tono romántico o de comedia, pero en este caso, ella era Andrea, nunca Natalia u otro personaje que hubiera interpretado antes, y ese peso hace que el ritmo de la película se acelere de tal manera que te lleva de la mano a vivir la historia junto a ella.
De hecho, la trama inicial sobre el proceso judicial y todo lo que ello conduce posteriormente, pasa a segundo plano para concentrarse en la transformación de Andrea, de una profesional y madre, a una activista por las cosas que considera justas.
La mujer de la fila, no es solo una más del grupo, es esa, quien rompiendo las barreras de la impotencia, la ira y las condiciones de clase, logra sumarse entre todas las que llevan la responsabilidad de ser soporte emocional para sus familiares recluidos y también los que están fuera del recinto penitenciario.
Un detalle que se ve al final, sobre todo si ves la película sin investigar previamente, es que de todas las que aparecen ahí, solo Oreiro es actriz, pues las demás son algunas de las que realmente visitan el penal de Ezeiza, en la provincia de Buenos Aires, dándole rostros reales a estas historias.
De todo ello, no solo Gustavo, el hijo implicado en el delito que da pie a toda la historia, sino todos los involucrados, se llevan un gran aprendizaje de amor fraternal, resiliencia y la importancia de la familia, además que el perdón es liberador y que si bien son criminales no violentos, también son personas, y como tal deben ser tratadas.
Andrea, quien no es solo un personaje de ficción, ya que la película se trata de un caso real, consiguió en medio de la turbulencia, su misión en la vida, además del amor verdadero, a quien conoce por causalidad dentro de la penitenciaría.
La mujer de la fila es una historia de esas que no se cuentan todos los días, pero si de situaciones que pasan a diario. Bien escrita, dirigida y actuada, realmente una película que da para pensar, pero también para agradecer. Si tienen la oportunidad de verla, háganlo y me comentan cómo les pareció.
Recently, Netflix suggested an Argentine film to me, which I was initially hesitant to watch, as my experience with productions from this country has not always been pleasant, especially those shown on free-to-air television channels, but Netflix is obviously a different matter.
La mujer de la fila (The Woman in the Line) is a film starring Natalia Oreiro and directed by Benjamín Ávila, which premiered just two months ago (September 2025) and tells us about the little-known reality of women who visit their relatives in prison.
Without giving away any spoilers, the story not only puts you in the shoes of mothers, daughters, sisters, or partners who go to prisons every week to see their relatives and bring them clothes, food, and other necessities, but also helps you understand that beyond the mistakes made, love is a force that drives people to achieve their goals.
With an impeccable performance, Oreiro brings Andrea to life, a widowed mother of three who fights to get her eldest son released after he is arrested. I was really surprised at how she managed to bring so much strength to that role, as I have always seen her in more romantic or comedic performances, but in this case, she was Andrea, never Natalia or any other character she had played before, and that weight makes the pace of the film accelerate in such a way that it takes you by the hand to live the story alongside her.
In fact, the initial plot about the legal process and everything that follows takes a back seat to focus on Andrea's transformation from a professional and mother to an activist for the things she considers just.
The woman in the line is not just another member of the group; she is the one who, breaking through the barriers of powerlessness, anger, and class conditions, manages to join all those who bear the responsibility of providing emotional support to their imprisoned relatives and also to those outside the prison walls.
One detail that becomes apparent at the end, especially if you watch the film without doing any prior research, is that of all the women who appear in it, only Oreiro is an actress, as the others are some of those who actually visit the Ezeiza prison in the province of Buenos Aires, giving real faces to these stories.
From all this, not only Gustavo, the son involved in the crime that gives rise to the whole story, but everyone involved learns a great deal about brotherly love, resilience, and the importance of family, as well as that forgiveness is liberating and that although they are non-violent criminals, they are also people and should be treated as such.
Andrea, who is not just a fictional character, as the film is based on a real case, found her mission in life amid the turmoil, as well as true love, whom she meets by chance in the prison.
La mujer de la fila is one of those stories that are not told every day, but it is about situations that happen every day.
