Me encantan las historias basadas en hechos de la vida real y esta es una de ellas. Se trata de la historia de Don Shirley, una pianista afroestadounidense y de Tony Vallelonga, un hombre italoestadounidense que es contratado por éste como chofer y guardaespaldas durante su gira por el sur de los Estados Unidos en los años 60.

Las diferencias raciales entre blancos y personas de color cobran protagonismo en esta historia, pero no solo esto, sino también entre la misma raza y diferente nivel económico. Además, también se incluye el tema orientación sexual no convencional.

Parece algo contradictorio, un hombre que a pesar de ser de color y en aquella época, desde los 2 años comienza a tocar el piano y de niño es aceptado en un conservatorio reconocido y es la primera persona de color en cursar estudios en este tipo de instituciones.
Es un hombre muy culto, reconocido, admirado, con una buena posición económica, que cobra una buena cantidad de dinero en sus conciertos para gente adineradas, pero que no tiene derecho en algunos lugares a usar el mismo sanitario o cenar en el mismo restaurante con este tipo de personas.

Debido a lo difícil de las situaciones que tendría que soportar en su gira, Don Shirley, decide contratar a Tony Vallelonga, por la reputación que le precede de no dejarse intimidar por nadie y ser un golpeador conocido.
Tony Vallelonga o Tony Lip, como le decían, se enorgullecía de ser un charlatán, era irreverente, descuidado, con un apetito insaciable, pero que asumió muy bien su trabajo. Además, a pesar de los prejuicios raciales que también tenía, fue responsable al aceptar el trabajo para poder mantener a su familia y también al cumplir con las tareas específicas de su contratación.
A lo largo de la gira, y más temprano que tarde, tuvo que vivir y defender a su jefe de tratos injustos, inhumanos y despiadados y a lo largo de los meses se fue creando un vínculo entre ellos.

Esta es una historia real, e investigando un poco me enteré que Don Shirley y Tony Lip fueron amigos hasta sus muertes en el año 2013. Esta película es de 2018 y su género es Comedia Dramática, pero no lo sé... Si te gusta este tipo de historias, ve y búscala y déjame tu opinión.
