This is a slightly enhanced version of Stealing a Nation that we recently uploaded. The highest quality we can find online is 360p to 480p. This is a semi-enhanced version up to 720p. We are still reworking a better version that we can finish once we are able to purchase proper software. This version still has some blur and other issues, but looks a little better than the original version on a larger screen. We recently did the same with The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari from 1920, that film came out better, but still needs work as well.

Here is some quick history on Diego Garcia Island:
Diego Garcia is a tropical atoll located in the central Indian Ocean, and it is part of the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT). The atoll is situated approximately 1,796 km (1,116 mi) south of the southern tip of India. Diego Garcia is the largest and most significant island in the Chagos Archipelago, a group of 60 coral islands and atolls.

Geography:
Diego Garcia is a coral atoll comprising a large, shallow lagoon surrounded by a rim of land. The island is characterized by white sandy beaches, coconut palm groves, and rich marine life in its clear blue waters.

History:
The Chagos Archipelago has a complex history. In the 18th century, the French established coconut plantations on the islands using eslaved labor, and later, the British took control. Diego Garcia became strategically significant during the Cold War due to its location. In 1971, the United Kingdom leased Diego Garcia to the United States for military purposes.

Military Presence:
Diego Garcia is home to a U.S. military base, officially known as the Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia.

Population:
The native population of Diego Garcia, along with other Chagossians, was forcibly removed from the island by the British government between 1968 and 1971 to make way for the U.S. military base. Since then, the island has been primarily populated by military personnel and civilian contractors.

Controversies:
The forced displacement of the Chagossian population has been a source of controversy and legal disputes. Many Chagossians have sought the right to return to their homeland, leading to ongoing legal battles. Diego Garcia's geopolitical significance, particularly in terms of its military base, has made it a subject of international attention and debate, encompassing issues of human rights, environmental conservation, and global security.

Ecology:
Diego Garcia is home to a diverse range of marine life, including coral reefs and various species of fish and seabirds. The island consists of the largest continuous dryland rim of all atolls in the world.
