I will always remember the Japanese master Akira Kurosawa with Rashomon. It is a gem of cinematography but to today's movie buffs it will seem a bit old since it was made in 1950. However, Kurosawa knew how to edit a plot where everyone can be guilty and in the end we leave the theater with that doubt.

The film Rashomon won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1951, and the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 1952. If anyone who reads me watches it and finds out who the killer was please leave me a comment and tell me! Because I could never figure out who did it.

Below I will offer three films for those who like to enjoy suspense and dare to elucidate who did it before the film ends.

Yo siempre recordaré al maestro japonés Akira Kurosawa con Rashomon. Es una joya de la cinematografía mundial pero a los actuales cinéfilos les parecerá algo vieja ya que fue realizada en el año de 1950. No obstante, Kurosawa supo editar un argumento en donde todos pueden ser culpables y al final salimos con esa duda de la sala de cine.

La película Rashomon obtuvo en 1951 el León de Oro en el Festival de Venecia y en 1952 el Oscar a la Mejor Película Extranjera. Si alguien que me lee la mira y descubre quién fue el asesino por favor déjame un comentario y dímelo! Porque yo nunca pude saber quién lo hizo.

A continuación ofreceré tres películas para quienes les gusta disfrutar del suspenso y se atreven a dilucidar quién lo hizo antes de que termine el filme.

Zodiac (2007)

This movie was directed by David Fincher with a screenplay by James Vanderbilt. It is based on real events in San Francisco - USA, between 1966 and 1978, when a serial killer committed a series of crimes and sent clues to the media, in the form of riddles.

The plot is narrated in the classic form of investigative journalism. Several characters appear, some of whom are suspects.

The film is very clever as it never loses its essence in terms of scenarios, characters, and possible resolutions.

I have to warn that there is a lot of blood to show the crimes.

Something very special is that David Fincher keeps you pinned to your seat in the same way that the "Zodiac killer" keeps the police on their toes.

The cast includes: Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, Anthony Edwards, Robert Downey Jr., Brian Cox, John Carroll Lynch, Chloë Sevigny, Elias Koteas, Adam Goldberg, Dermot Mulroney, Philip Baker Hall, Clea DuVall, Donal Logue, etc.

David Fincher won the Best Director Award at the Dublin Film Critics Circle with this film.

I would give it a rating of 7/10.

Esta película fue dirigida por David Fincher con guion de James Vanderbilt. Está basada en hechos reales en San Francisco – USA, entre los años 1966 y 1978, cuando un asesino en serie cometió una serie de crímenes y enviaba pistas a los medios de comunicación, en forma de acertijos.

La trama está narrada en forma clásica de periodismo de investigación. Aparecen varios personajes dentro de los cuales algunos son sospechosos.

Es filme es muy inteligente ya que nunca pierde su esencia en cuanto a los escenarios, los personajes y las posibles resoluciones.

Tengo que advertir que hay mucha sangre para mostrar los crímenes.

Algo muy especial es que David Fincher te mantiene clavado en el asiento de la misma manera en que el “asesino del Zodiaco” mantiene en vilo a la policía.

En el reparto se encuentran: Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, Anthony Edwards, Robert Downey Jr., Brian Cox, John Carroll Lynch, Chloë Sevigny, Elias Koteas, Adam Goldberg, Dermot Mulroney, Philip Baker Hall, Clea DuVall, Donal Logue,etc.

The Usual Suspects - Sospechosos habituales (1995)

This film was directed by Bryan Singer and the screenplay was written by Christopher McQuarrie. It won two Oscars: Best Supporting Actor for Kevin Spacey and Best Original Screenplay. It also won two BAFTA Awards: Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing. And it received the César for Best Foreign Film.

It's a film of captivating intrigue in the form of a puzzle. The plot is the investigation of the causes of a ship fire by a customs agent (Chazz Palminteri), in which more than 20 people died. Five detainees are the suspects who appear in the flashbacks of (Kevin Spacey), a survivor of the tragedy.

The film is a back and forth of actions and motivations to steal and to kill.

Chazz Palminteri who plays the role of David Kujan discovers at the end of the film the ingenious and fictional story of Kevin Spacey, in the role of Roger "Verbal" Kint, who is none other than the creator of Keyser Söze.

You have to see it to discover the story of Keyser Söze.

The cast was mostly made up of men: Chazz Palminteri, Kevin Spacey, Gabriel Byrne, Benicio del Toro, Stephen Baldwin, Pete Postlethwaite, Giancarlo Esposito, etc.

My rating for this film is 8.5/10.

Se trata de un filme de intriga cautivadora en forma de rompecabezas. El argumento es la investigación de las causas de un incendio de un barco por parte de un agente del servicio de aduanas (Chazz Palminteri), en donde murieron más de 20 personas. Cinco detenidos son los sospechosos que van apareciendo en los flash-back de (Kevin Spacey), sobreviviente de la tragedia.

La película es un ir y venir de acciones y de motivaciones para robar y para matar.

Chazz Palminteri quien hace el rol de David Kujan descubre al final de la película la ingeniosa y ficticia historia de Kevin Spacey, en el rol de Roger “Verbal” Kint, quien es nada más y nada menos que el creador de Keyser Söze.

Tienes que verla para descubrir la historia de Keyser Söze.

El reparto estuvo integrado por hombres en su mayoría: Chazz Palminteri, Kevin Spacey, Gabriel Byrne, Benicio del Toro, Stephen Baldwin, Pete Postlethwaite, Giancarlo Esposito, etc.

Mi valoración para esta película es de 8,5/10.

Gosford Park (2001)

I've gone for the sentimental here. I mean, there are much more interesting films but I have always appreciated the cinema of Robert Altman, director of this film.

This film won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay by Julian Fellowes who in turn was based on the ideas of Bob Balaban, and Altman. It won the Golden Globe for Best Director, and 2 BAFTA awards: Best British Film, and Best Costume Design.

This film is based on a murder that takes place in a house in the English countryside, in 1932, where several guests meet and who are not real friends but a group of human beings with resentment, hypocrisy and envy, who are in the same place at the wrong time, this film develops.

The film has positive aspects worth mentioning; an impeccable setting, exquisite editing and a formidable cast. These aspects together make the film to be well received by the viewers.

In the cast you will find several well-known actors and actresses, such as: Helen Mirren, Alan Bates, Michael Gambon, Maggie Smith, Stephen Fry, Jeremy Northam, Clive Owen, Eileen Atkins, Bob Balaban, Charles Dance, Richard E. Grant, Derek Jacobi, Kelly Macdonald, Ryan Phillippe, Kristin Scott Thomas, Emily Watson, etc.

My rating for this movie is 7/10.

Aquí me he ido por lo sentimental. Es decir, hay películas mucho más interesantes pero siempre he apreciado el cine de Robert Altman, director de este filme.

Este filme fue merecedor del Oscar al Mejor Guion Original realizado por Julian Fellowes quien a su vez se basó en las ideas de Bob Balaban y de Altman. Ganó el Globo de Oro al Mejor Director y 2 premios BAFTA: Mejor Film Británico y Mejor Diseño de Vestuario.

A partir de un asesinato que ocurre en una casa de la campiña inglesa, por el año 1932, donde se encuentran varios invitados y que precisamente no son amigos de verdad sino un grupo de seres humanos con rencor, hipocresía y envidia, que se encuentran en el mismo lugar a la hora equivocada, se desarrolla este filme.

La película tiene aspectos positivos dignos de reseñar; una impecable ambientación, una edición exquisita y un formidable reparto. Estos aspectos en su conjunto hacen que película sea bien recibida por los espectadores.

Quiero resaltar que la película tiene un acento mayor al cinismo a lo británico, por lo que para disfrutarla más debemos tener ciertos referentes del comportamiento de los ingleses, sobre todo los de alta sociedad.

En el reparto encontrarán varios actores y actrices conocidos, tales como: Helen Mirren, Alan Bates, Michael Gambon, Maggie Smith, Stephen Fry, Jeremy Northam, Clive Owen, Eileen Atkins, Bob Balaban, Charles Dance, Richard E. I can't say goodbye without saying that there are many other films around the who-done-it theme that are very good; for example, The Maltese Falcon, Rear Window, Psycho, Murder on the Orient Express, Ten Little Indians, Death on the Nile, Mysterious Murder in Manhattan, The Oxford Crimes, The Bone Collector, Sherlock Holmes, and Millennium 1: The Men Who Didn't Love Women, among several titles that come to mind.

No puedo despedirme sin dejar de decir que existen muchas otras películas alrededor del tema de quién lo hizo y que son muy buenas; por ejemplo, El Halcón Maltés, La ventana indiscreta, Psicosis, Asesinato en el Orient Express, Diez negritos, Muerte en el Nilo, Misterioso asesinato en Manhattan, Los crímenes de Oxford, El coleccionista de huesos, Sherlock Holmes y Millennium 1: los hombres que no amaban a las mujeres, entre varios títulos que me vienen a la mente.
