Nos muestra la historia de Simón, un joven inmigrante venezolano que le tocó salir de su país, escapando de un régimen que le causó tanto daño, ahora carga con una presión muy grande de dejar a los suyos atrás en un país lleno de carencias y el “luchando por una mejor vida” en Miami, al punto de pedir una asilo político.
Para nadie es un secreto que aquí en Venezuela hemos vivido situaciones lamentables, que nos han hecho querer luchar por un mejor futuro, en eso muchos se han dado cuenta qué tal vez es en vano, y les ha tocado “meter su vida en la maleta” y irse a otro país por un mejor futuro, por vivir la vida y no solo sobrevivir.
Simón y su mejor amigo Chucho, se encuentran en Miami, luego de ser capturados por el régimen gracias a la “traición” de uno de sus compañeros, allí ambos fueron torturados física y psicológicamente a punto de dañarlos por completo. Ahora se encuentran en Miami, en donde no han tenido contacto con nadie en Venezuela desde hace meses, chucho ya quiere volver a ver a su gente y seguir luchando, pero Simón desea pedir asilo político, solo que chucho aún no lo sabe.
Melisa, una joven estudiante de derecho, le ayuda a Simón con los requisitos para su asilo político, ya que él no tiene el dinero suficiente para pagar un abogado, es en este momento en donde comienza a revivir su cruel historia al contarle a Melisa lo que verdaderamente me pasó. Todo comienza a empeorar cuando ve a Juaquin, su supuesto amigo que los entrego y los llevo directamente con sus secruestradores, luego de meses se pone en contacto con sus amigos y aunque muchos están feliz de verlo, otro no tanto, por que está molesto porque los abandono? En eso una de ellos se desmaya por falta de medicamentos, porque como es obvio, todo siguió empeorando, Simón promete buscar su insulina y enviarla, para luego de sentir que hizo algo por ellos, pedirle su testimonio para que le aprueben el asilo.
Todo va bien, pero Simón se quiebra al ver a Juaquin en un bar, en donde sin pensarlo mucho lo confronta y lo golpea, poniendo en riesgo su estadía, por lo cual deciden deportarlo.
Quiero dejar mi resumen aquí, porque es una película que tienen que ver, no quiero dar detalles de más, porque es una película que te pone la piel de gallina, sin mentir mis ojos se llenaron de lagrimas al revivir muchos eventos que marcaron mi adolescencia, la cruda realidad que hemos vivido no tiene palabras para explicarlo, la nostalgia de una simple canción que te recuerda “buenos tiempos”, la crudeza y l tortura de las autoridades, y la gran tristeza que inmunda a todas las familias venezolanas que es “me voy por un mejor futuro” en donde nuestros amigos y familiares han tenido que salir y otros estamos aquí, sobreviviendo con lo que se puede… en este momento la situación está un poco crítica así qué tal vez por eso sigue pegando fuerte el ver como nuestro día a día es una película, por que si, la realidad mil veces supera a la ficción. Simón and his best friend, Chucho, are in Miami, after being captured by the regime thanks to the “betrayal” of one of his companions, there they were both physically and psychologically tortured to the point of completely damaging them. Now they are in Miami, where they have not had contact with anyone in Venezuela for months. Chucho already wants to see his people again and continue fighting, but Simón wants to ask for political asylum, only Chucho doesn't know it yet.
Melisa, a young law student, helps Simón with the requirements for his political asylum, since he does not have enough money to pay for a lawyer, it is at this moment where he begins to relive his cruel story by telling Melisa what that really happened to me. Everything begins to get worse when he sees Juaquin, his supposed friend who handed them over and took them directly to their kidnappers. After months he contacts his friends and although many are happy to see him, another not so much, because he is upset because I abandon them? At that point, one of them faints due to lack of medication, because obviously everything continued to get worse. Simón promises to look for his insulin and send it, and after feeling that he did something for them, ask for his testimony so that they can approve his asylum.
Everything is going well, but Simón breaks down when he sees Juaquin in a bar, where without thinking much he confronts him and hits him, putting his stay at risk, so they decide to deport him.
I want to leave my summary here, because it is a film that you have to see, I do not want to give more details, because it is a film that gives you goosebumps, without lying my eyes filled with tears as I relived many events that marked my adolescence , the crude reality that we have experienced has no words to explain it, the nostalgia of a simple song that reminds you of “good times”, the crudeness and torture of the authorities, and the great sadness that fills all Venezuelan families that is “me I am going for a better future” where our friends and family have had to leave and the rest of us are here, surviving with what we can… at this moment the situation is a bit critical so perhaps that is why it continues to hit hard to see how our day by day is a movie, because yes, reality a thousand times surpasses fiction.
