Saludos, feliz comienzo del fin de semana, les comparto la reseña de la película Baile caliente: noches de la Habana una historia de amor y baile que para mí tiene un sabor amargo al final, bueno no todas las historias son perfectas pero si podemos aprender de ellas. La película se publicó en el año 2004, con una duración de 86 minutos suficientes para mostrar una historia donde la música y el baile pueden unir corazones sin importar clases sociales.

Greetings, happy start to the weekend! I'm sharing my review of the film Hot Dance: Havana Nights, a love story and dance tale that, for me, has a bittersweet ending. Well, not all stories are perfect, but we can learn from them. The film was released in 2004, with a runtime of 86 minutes, enough to tell a story where music and dance can unite hearts regardless of social class.

Una joven llamada Katey Miller durante los años 50 se muda con su familia desde Estados Unidos hacia Cuba, allí comenzaron una nueva vida debido a la oportunidad de trabajo que se le presentó a su padre, ellos son adinerados y con mucha clase, aunque Katey es inteligente también es muy amable, ví en ella que a pesar de ser de otro país y crecer en un mundo diferente a la realidad del otro país era una persona humana e igualitaria, a diferencia de su familia, amigos que si tenían esa tendencia hacia el clasismo.

A young woman named Katey Miller moved with her family from the United States to Cuba during the 1950s. There, they began a new life due to a job opportunity presented to her father. They were wealthy and classy. Although Katey was intelligent, she was also very kind. I saw in her that despite being from another country and growing up in a world different from the reality of her home country, she was a humane and egalitarian person, unlike her family and friends who did have that tendency towards classism.

Cuando Katey comienza a conocer por sus propios medios el país Cubano le llama la atención los ritmos latinos y su forma de disfrutar y bailar, conoce a Javier un joven que trabajaba en el hotel donde se hospedaban, no se conocen de la mejor forma pero ella trata de acercarse a él con el motivo de pedir una disculpa y entregar una hoja dónde anuncian un concurso de baile. Ambos comparten algo en común, Javier baila muy bien y Katey poco a poco va descubriendo su pasión por el baile, pero ella debe empezar desde cero ya que solo había practicado el baile de salón que es muy diferente al baile del caribe que combina ritmos de mambo, salsa, entre otros.

As Katey begins to explore Cuba on her own, she's captivated by Latin rhythms and the way people enjoy and dance them. She meets Javier, a young man who works at the hotel where they're staying. They don't get to know each other well, but she tries to approach him to apologize and give him a flyer advertising a dance contest. They share something in common: Javier is a very good dancer, and Katey gradually discovers her own passion for dance. However, she has to start from scratch since she's only ever practiced ballroom dancing, which is very different from Caribbean dance, which combines rhythms like mambo and salsa, among others.

Ambos se enamoran, practican mucho y logran llegar al concurso, una de las lecciones que Katey le da su a familia es no hacer menos a los demás por su clase social ya que siempre hicieron menos a Javier, aunque a él no le afectaba mucho, ella también aprendió a luchar por sus sueños y descubrir el mundo a través de sus ojos y no como se lo contaron las personas de su círculo, a veces es bueno salir de la zona de confort.

They both fall in love, practice a lot and manage to reach the competition. One of the lessons Katey teaches her family is not to look down on others because of their social class, since they always looked down on Javier, although it didn't affect him much. She also learned to fight for her dreams and discover the world through her own eyes and not as the people in her circle told her. Sometimes it's good to step out of your comfort zone.

Me gustó como proyectaron el estilo de aquella época tanto en el vestuario, las calles de la Habana, aunque se muestran las dos realidades. Una historia donde se vive el amor, la sensualidad y la pasión por el baile, una película para los amantes del romance y algo más, y quizás te den ganas de bailar también. Gracias por leer.

I loved how they captured the style of that era, from the costumes to the streets of Havana, even though both realities are shown.
