Today I'm here to talk to you about a movie I watched with my little niece to keep her company, so as you can imagine, it's a cartoon, ha ha ha, yes, I really love them. What can I say? There's nothing like being a kid again, hehehe. Anyway, I'm talking about the 2024 British film "10 Lives," or as its original title suggests, "10 Lives."

This movie I'm bringing you today is also known in some countries as "A Lucky Cat," and the truth is, it was a lot of fun, ha ha ha. As I was saying before, this is an animated film directed by Christopher Jenkins, a veteran animator with experience in major Disney productions such as The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Aladdin. This film has a simple but effective theme: what happens when a spoiled and selfish cat loses its nine lives and gets an extra chance to redeem itself? Ha ha ha.

Well, let me tell you, the story revolves around Beckett, a stray cat who, after being accidentally hit by Rose, a student passionate about science and bee preservation, is adopted by her. Rose spoils him excessively, turning him into a lazy, gluttonous, and completely self-centered feline who takes his perfect life of kibble, naps, and cuddles for granted. Beckett's English voice is provided by comedian Mo Gilligan, who gives the character a sarcastic, lazy, and very British tone that works perfectly for the character. In the Spanish-dubbed versions, it is usually adapted with local humor.

Everything changes when Rose's ex-boyfriend Larry reappears to help her with her research on bees. Beckett, jealous that someone is threatening his monopoly on attention, hatches an absurd plan to get rid of him, ha ha ha, this cat is really something, and ends up losing his ninth and final life. Desperate, he arrives at the gates of the afterlife and convinces, or rather tricks, the Guardian into granting him nine additional lives. In each of these new existences, he will be reborn as a different animal, whether it be a mouse, a cockroach, a skunk, a dog, a horse, a bee, etc., and he must learn to value love, friendship, and sacrifice if he wants to return to Rose.

The film lasts just 88 minutes, but it maintains a brisk, almost frenetic pace in the transformation sequences and avoids stretching situations out longer than necessary. Each new life the cat receives is a mini-story lasting between 5 and 8 minutes, which follows a clear pattern each time he is given a new life as a different animal, or rather, it unfolds in the mistake he makes, followed by a comical death. From each death, he learns a lesson, or not, and then moves on to the next animal, which gives the film an episodic feel that is very digestible for young children, but also allows adults like me to enjoy the physical humor and little nods. If you don't believe me, just ask me, ha ha ha.

On the technical side, the animation is surprisingly good for a production not belonging to the big studios. It doesn't reach the hyperrealism of Pixar or DreamWorks, but it has a clean style, vivid colors, and very expressive character designs, especially the cat Beckett, who conveys laziness and arrogance with just a glance. The coastal scenes are beautifully recreated, with white cliffs, green meadows, and a sea that invites calm, ha ha ha, until Beckett ruins everything with his antics.

The humor in the film is generally well balanced, with physical jokes such as falls, flatulence explosions, absurd chases, the appearance of excrement to provoke laughter, and sarcastic dialogue that adults understand better. This is a film with a warmer, more family-friendly tone. One of the things that makes this film shine is its message, as beneath the comedy lies a reflection on selfishness, gratitude, animal abandonment, and, above all, the value of a single life well lived.

Beckett's transition is very evident, as he goes from being a selfish cat to a heroic cat, and each transformation from one animal to another forces him to experience vulnerability from the point of view of smaller or more defenseless animals, to larger and fiercer ones, and that really hits home. The ecological theme is also present here, with everything related to the importance of bees, the threat of pesticides, and corporate villains, which integrates very well to create a complete fusion.

I can't deny that there are some truly emotional moments. I'll admit that it brought a tear to my eye here and there, especially towards the end, when Beckett sacrifices his life to protect Rose and her research. The film ends with a small generational change, which is very touching, and it really leaves you with the feeling that one life is enough if you live it with love, a phrase that is mentioned at the end of the film. On the other hand, the plot is not particularly original, as in many ways it bears some resemblance to "Puss in Boots," some jokes are repeated, and the villain in this film is quite cartoonish, but "9 Lives" is so warm, honest, and familiar that these minor flaws are not noticeable.

The truth is that this is a highly recommended film to watch with children aged 7-8 and up, as there are repeated deaths and some somewhat sad themes such as abandonment, but the truth is that it entertains, makes you laugh, excites you in just the right measure, and leaves a positive message about appreciating what we have. For accompanying adults like me, ha ha ha, it is a very nice and enjoyable option. It is not a film that reinvents animation, but if we look at it from a feline point of view, it purrs with affection and dignity. In my opinion, this is a little gem that deserves a lot of attention for the great messages it conveys. I highly recommend it and will sign off for today. Blessings galore.

Hola amigos de #hive y en especial a la comunidad de Movies&Tvshows, como siempre espero que se encuentren bien al igual que sus familiares y amigos. En el día de hoy paso por acá para hablarles de una peli que me puse a ver con mi sobrinita para hacerle compañía, así que como podrán imaginar se trata de una película de dibujos animados ja, ja, ja, pues sí, la verdad me encantan, que les puedo decir, no hay nada como volver a ser niños ji, ji, ji, bueno les hablo de la película británica del 2024 "10 vidas", o como su nombre original lo indica "10 lives"

Está película que les traigo hoy, también es conocida en algunos países por el nombre de "Un gato con suerte" y la verdad es que tuvo mucha ja, ja, ja. Como les decía anteriormente esta es una película de animación dirigida por Christopher Jenkins, un veterano animador con experiencia en grandes producciones de Disney como La Sirenita, El rey león o Aladdin. Esta cinta llega con un tema sencillo, pero efectivo, ¿qué pasa cuando un gato mimado y egoísta pierde sus nueve vidas y recibe una oportunidad extra para redimirse? Ja, ja, ja.

Bueno, pues les cuento, la historia gira en torno a Beckett, un gato callejero que, tras ser atropellado accidentalmente por Rose, una estudiante apasionada por la ciencia y la preservación de las abejas, es adoptado por ella. Rose lo mima en exceso, convirtiéndolo en un felino perezoso, glotón y completamente egocéntrico que da por sentada su vida perfecta llena de croquetas, siestas y caricias. La voz en inglés de Beckett corre a cargo del comediante Mo Gilligan, quien le da al personaje un tono sarcástico, perezoso y muy británico que funciona perfectamente para el personaje, en las versiones dobladas al español suele adaptarse con humor local.

Todo cambia cuando el exnovio de Rose, Larry, reaparece para ayudarla en su investigación sobre abejas. Beckett, celoso de que alguien amenace su monopolio de atención, trama un plan absurdo para deshacerse de él ja, ja, ja, la verdad este gato es tremendo, y termina perdiendo su novena y última vida. Desesperado, llega a las puertas del más allá y convence, o más bien engaña al Guardián para que le conceda nueve vidas adicionales, en cada una de estas nuevas existencias renacerá como un animal diferente, ya sea un ratón, una cucaracha, una mofeta, un perro, un caballo, una abeja, etc. y deberá aprender a valorar el amor, la amistad y el sacrificio si quiere volver con Rose.

La película dura apenas 88 minutos, pero mantiene un ritmo ágil, casi frenético en las secuencias de transformación, y evita estirar las situaciones más allá de lo necesario. Cada vida nueva que recibe el gato, es una mini historia que dura entre 5 y 8 minutos, la cual sigue un patrón claro en cada una de las ocasiones que se le otorga una nueva vida como un animal diferente, o mejor dicho, transcurre en error que comete, después una muerte cómica, de cada una de las muertes aprende una lección o no, y luego el siguiente animal, lo que le da a la película un aire episódico muy digerible para niños pequeños, pero también permite que los adultos como yo disfrutemos del humor físico y de los pequeños guiños, y si no pregúntenme a mi ja, ja, ja.

En el aspecto técnico, la animación es sorprendentemente buena para tratarse de una producción no perteneciente a los grandes estudios. La misma no alcanza el hiperrealismo de Pixar o DreamWorks, pero tiene un estilo limpio, colores vivos y diseños de personajes muy expresivos, especialmente el gato Beckett, que transmite pereza y arrogancia con solo una mirada. Las escenas costeras están bellamente recreadas, con acantilados blancos, prados verdes y un mar que invita a la calma, ja, ja, ja hasta que Beckett lo rompe todo con sus locuras.

En la película el humor en general está bien equilibrado, hay chistes físicos como caídas, explosiones de flatulencias, persecuciones absurdas, aparición de excrementos para provocar la risa, y diálogos sarcásticos que los adultos pillan mejor. Esta es una película que guarda un tono más cálido y familiar. Una de las cosas en las que más brilla esta película es especialmente en el mensaje que carga, ya que bajo la comedia que nos muestra, se esconde una reflexión sobre el egoísmo, la gratitud, el abandono animal y, sobre todo, el valor de una sola vida bien vivida.

La transición de Beckett es bien evidente, ya que pasa de ser un gato egoísta a un gato heroico, además de que cada transformación de animal en animal, lo obliga a experimentar la vulnerabilidad desde el punto de vista de animales más pequeños o indefensos, hasta los más grandes y fieros y eso cala. También está presente aquí el tema ecológico con todo lo que se trata de la importancia de las abejas, la amenaza de pesticidas y villanos corporativos lo cual se integra muy bien para hacer una fusión completa.

No les puedo negar que hay momentos verdaderamente emotivos, les cuento que me sacó alguna que otra lagrimilla por ahí, sobre todo hacia el final, cuando Beckett sacrifica sus vidas por proteger a Rose y su investigación. El cierre de la película con un pequeño cambio de generación, es bien tierno, y la verdad deja esa sensación de que una vida es suficiente si la vives con amor, frase que se menciona al final de la película. Por otra parte, la trama no es especialmente original, ya que en muchos aspectos tiene algún parecido con "El gato con botas", algunos chistes se repiten y el villano de esta película es bastante caricaturesco, pero "10 vidas" es tan cálida, honesta y familiar que estos pequeños defectos no se echan a ver.

La verdad esta es una película muy recomendable para ver con niños a partir de 7-8 años, ya que hay muertes repetidas y algún tema algo triste como el abandono, pero la verdad entretiene, hace reír, emociona en su justa medida y deja un mensaje positivo sobre apreciar lo que tenemos. Para adultos que acompañan como yo ja, ja, ja, es una opción muy bonita y agradable. No es una película que reinventa la animación, pero si la vemos desde el punto de vista gatuno, ronronea con cariño y dignidad. Esta es en mi opinión una pequeña joyita que merece muchísima atención por los grandes mensajes que carga. Yo sin más se las recomiendo mucho y ya me despido por hoy. Bendiciones miles.
