"The Sound of Music" (1965) is one timeless movie that has won the hearts of many generations of its viewers with its consistent and enduring plot, great music, and almost perfect photography. This is one movie that continues to enthrall its audiences with its message of love and hope. And no matter how old the movie is, it's still as relevant today as it was more than 50 years ago, despite the fact that many movies come and go. But this particular movie is evergreen.

It's been years since I last saw the movie. So I hope I'm able to do a little review on it without deviating from the theme of the movie. That said, let me move on to the plot of the movie.

Plot of the movie
The movie " The Sound Of Music" Set in the late 1930s in Austria started with a young woman named Maria played by (Julie Andrews). Maria leaves the abbey where she has been living all her life to work as the governess for Captain Georg von Trapp's (Christopher Plummer). Maria's carefree and musical ways initially make the kids wary and angry, but gradually she was able to quickly win them over with her warmth, care and compassion.

One day as Maria and the kids were touring the countryside of Austria, they became aware of a political turbulence that was roiling the nation as the Nazi regime of Hitler grew in power. This sets the mood for the movie which gradually unfolds into the Capt falling in love with Maria and they all trying to escape from their enemies.

About the cast
The movie had a great number of talented performers, with the lead role played by Julie Andrews as Maria, a young beautiful governess who brought joy and music to the family of Von Trapp in Austria.

Christopher Plummer was another interesting character he played Captain Georg Von Trapp, a stern and emotionally guarded leader or father of the family, with his seven children which were played respectfully by Charmian Carr, Nicholas Hammond, Heather Menzies, Duane Chase, Angela Cartwright, Debbie Turner, and Kym Karath.

There were also other notable characters in the movie.

My view in the movie
I believe that one aspect of the movie that contributed to its global popularity was its unforgettable music. The soundtracks of the movie were so filled with timeless and classic music that have become part of us. I can recall me and my siblings singing and Dancing to "Do Re Mi" which was part of the movie's soundtrack. From the opening notes of "The Sound of Music" to the stirring strains of "Climb Ev'ry Mountain." Not forgetting Julie's stunning voice, and her renditions of each song's songs like "My Favorite Things" and "Do-Re-Mi" were nothing short of magical and exciting. *"The Sound of Music"" reminds us of the joy and beauty that can be found in the world of music, even in the midst of adversity a little good music can lighten up the mood.

One other notable aspect of "The Sound of Music's" is the beautiful cinematography. The panoramic shots of the spring time in the city, the mountains, and hillsides were breathtaking. For a lover of nature I truly appreciated that aspect of the movie. Whether Maria is spinning in the fields with the kids or the von Trapp family is playing at the music festival, the natural beauty of the Austrian landscape where the movie was shot definitely is on full display.

The best part of the movie for me was when Capt Von, who was initially cold and distant, gradually developed a romantic relationship with Maria as the threat posed by Nazi Germany grew. He gradually transformed from the potent figure of a mean man to caring, brave and resistant.

I have many reasons as to why "The Sound of Music" is my favorite springtime movie. My choice sprung from the wonders of nature its stunning cinematography gave. Also it's unforgettable music, and an enduring message of hope the movie tends to give. "The Sound of Music" is one good uplifting and inspiring movie whether it's your first or a hundredth time of watching it. So grab some popcorn, relax, and allow "The Sound of Music's" captivating charm to whisk you away to a world filled with beauty and good music.

This is such a classic film, and wonderfully produced. Plus it is based on a true story. I vaguely remember seeing it as a child when it was released, yes, I am that old. We have it on DVD and have watched it as a family several times (but not recently...time to run this film again).

great write-up. thanks for sharing.
