I'm really not into movies about pets, but for sure I've seen a handful of them. Like "Homebound" "Life of a Pet" etc. So choosing a favorite movie devoted to pets alone was kind of a tough deal for me. But after much thinking I'll go with "Air Bud'". I'll tell you why but first let's talk about the movie.

About the movie
"Air Bud" is a 1997 movie that focuses on a boy named Josh and his dog named Buddy. Set against a backdrop of small town life, Josh found Buddy, a stray dog, who's somehow very good at basketball and immediately they became friends. Buddy helps Josh's school basketball team that has her struggling to win games. There is a lot of fun with Buddy on the team as they go on to win against several rival teams. Josh and Buddy became very inseparable. It's surely a fun and heartwarming movie good for all ages.

The cast

The actors, especially the lead character Kevin Zegers, did a very good job. Kevin Zegers played the character Josh, who was at first a shy boy and tumid boy, but as time goes on and the movie progresses he becomes more confident. Buddy, the dog, also learned during the movie to be more confident.

Production

The movie had a mix of both the live action and the CGI. The production team made sure to use a real golden retriever for the live action scenes, and then a bit of CGI was added to make him do the dribbling and other stunts. And the result was a seamless picture delivery.

Why I love the movie
The relationship between Buddy and Josh is so touching and it's one of the reasons I love the movie. It showed clearly that they have a deep bond. Buddy was an incredibly loyal, smart and brave dog and somehow he helped Josh to achieve dreams and build his confidence on and off the pitch. The ability Buddy has to connect with humans in the movie is what I loved more and it's generally what makes him a great pet dog.

With just his body language and facial expressions Josh is able to understand him perfectly and convey his feelings. This connection is what made the movie so touching and heartwarming to me.

Also there was lots of comedy in the movie. So while you're being touched by the moments the two friends have you're also laughing off your stress.

Another exciting part of the movie for me is a basketball game, where you get to see a dog doing tricks on the pitch like a professional player. It is somehow funny now, but then as a kid when I saw the movie, I didn't find it funny. I actually wished to have a dog as Buddy then. Also in the basketball games you don't know what will happen next.

It is truly a beloved family classic, with a satisfying ending. Trust me everyone's gonna love the movie.
