Tom Cruise is a big star, if not one of the biggest in Hollywood today. Although there are other actors I love more than him. I think Tom Cruise should be the fourth in my list of best actors . Ofcourse we wouldn't deny that he has made so many awesome movies! Blockbuster upon blockbuster, that it's so hard to choose. But if I had to choose just one. Then I'd have to go with Top Gun (1986). Why because it was the first movie I saw as a kid with Tom Cruise that made me fall in love with his acting. Also I believe I haven't written a review of this movie, so I will try not to bore you.

Top Gun (1986)
The movie Top Gun was released back in 1986. It was set during the time of the Cold War. The movie is renowned for how it was so accurate in its depiction of the air force. Fast forward to last year, there was a follow up of the movie named, Top Gun: Maverick, which was a sequel to the first one. If you've seen a lot of classics you'll agree with me that Top Gun (1986) was one of the best 1980s action genres.

The action in the movie is spectacular. The story is compelling and easy to grasp, not too many the cast but a combination of great actors. I so much loved the chemistry between Cruise and Kelly McGillis in the movie. They made their romance look sweet. Val Kilmer also was an incredible Iceman.

Right from the opening scene to the final credits, this movie is a wholesome all - action, romance packed movie. If there was another actor that would have rivaled the performance Tim gave in this movie, I think it will be Gerald Butler he has that spark too.

Plot
Maverick, a talented pilot, is recruited to the elite U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School otherwise known as Top Gun. Maverick has to work with an instructor named Iceman in a journey to become not just one of the best but the best pilot.

The rest of the movie follows Maverick's journey as he encounters diverse challenges (personal and professional challenges). He also fell in love and learned how to work as a team. I don't want to create a lot of spikera for people yet to see the movie but be rest assured that there's a lot of action and intense flying scenes. Also there is a great soundtrack, great lineup of songs that will have you humming along.

Cast
Tom played Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. He was a hotshot pilot although he was cocky and rebellious. He had to learn to work with others and not disobey the rules, which he seemed like he was so good at. And also compete to become the top pilot at Top Gun.

Val Kilmer played the Iceman. He was a perfect foil to Maverick. Like the opposite personality to Maverick, he's calm, cool, and collected, and he always follows the rules.

Kelly McGillis was Charlotte "Charlie" Blackwood. She was an astrophysicist who worked at Top Gun. She wasn't afraid to stand up to the rebellious Maverick. She was a strong, intelligent woman and her relationship with Maverick was full of chemistry and passion.

There's also Anthony Edwards as Maverick's best friend Goose.

About the movie production
Without being told the movie itself tells that the budget for its production was huge. The planes used in the movies were real military planes, the cast undergoing intense training to prepare for their roles. Like Tom Cruise learning how to fly a jet for the film!. The aerial sequences, filmed with a combination of real footage and special effects, were all absolutely incredible. All of these efforts and attention to detail put into the movie made it a beautiful experience for me. No wonder it's still my favorite Tom Cruise movie and it's easy to see why it's considered a classic.

Why it's my favorite Tom Cruise movie
Apart from the perfect mix of action and romance. The scenes of Maverick flying these planes were so thrilling for me and the fact that it was well-shot. I mean, you get to see everything like the pilots in the cockpit, the view from the aircraft, everything. I just love the way it's shot, the cinematography was simply amazing!. Plus, there's the daredevil stuntman and actor himself Tom Cruise. He was at his absolute best in this movie. That's why I love Tom he goes at length to give the viewers a great viewing pleasure. The passion he has is worth it. You should check it out
