" These days it's just, Lights, camera, CGI!" Emeka said, walking off as we saw this movie.

I smiled and paid him no rapt attention. I smiled because I didn't want him to feel like I was snubbing him. But the truth actual truth is that I was finding it had to truly connect and feel the movie we were seeing. Though it had great storyline but I felt off. I didn't know that was the reason he walked off.

Hours later and his words came back at me, now all alone, and in my thoughts.

"These days it's, Lights, camera, CGI!", the echoed.

Was he right or wrong? I seriously couldn't tell, it's like am sitting on the fence because truth be told movies these days are just a bunch of too many CGI some how it ruins the connection you should have with the characters and the story. Hence Is too much CGI not robbing the movies of their soul?. Is the magic of the movies not being overshadowed by the overwhelming presence of CGI?.

But then again wasn't it the CGI that changed the game of movie making? Isn't it a sign of an advancement in movie production. Hasn't Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) has emerged as the wizardry that defies imagination. From breathtaking landscapes to fantastical creatures, has CGI not has transported us to realms we could only dream of.

My Thoughts
Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) has become an essential part of the movie industry or Amy concept that has to do with creating spectacular visual effects in this modern era of motion pictures. We can't deny the fact that computer-generated imagery (CGI) has undoubtedly pushed the boundaries of what is and what is not possible on the big screen, but with recent releases there is growing arguments that the overreliance on CGI may be overshadowing the true art of the motion world, it's storytelling and undermining the total movie-watching experience.

That leads to my question:
Is too much CGI ruining movies?"

I think one terrible effects of excess CGI use in movies today is the loss of authenticity and tangibility. I believe that too much use of CGI has made most of the recent releases to loose it true originality. I mean In the past, they use of practical effects and some times physical sets were important in creating a convincing world for the audience. You wouldn't know if you did not see the BTS. However, these days with the rise of CGI, you could easily tell the difference from CGI and the real thing. It feels like practical craftsmanship has been sacrificed in favor of computer-generated visuals. Movies such as "Jurassic Park" (1993), for example, demonstrated a remarkable combination of practical effects and a some CGI, I believe the result was a seamless integration of real and digital elements. But recent movies that rely heavily on CGI alone, such as later installments in the "Transformers", "Fast and Furious 9 (F9)" franchise, makes you feel can feel detached and it lacks the weight and physicality that practical effects provide.

Not just that like I complained in my introductory writeup. The overuse of CGI has the possibility to give this disconnection between the audience and the movie. Literally it's hard for you the viewer to emotionally feel and connect to the story and characters. Why?, Because they are constantly bombarded with computer-generated spectacle. For example, the "Star Wars" "Thor: love and Thunder" requently left me feeling disconnected from the narrative. Feeling like the CGI diluted the emotional impact that a well-crafted story should have on the me by prioritizing just visual extravagance over the true character development and storytelling.

I believe the motion pictures world is a male believe world, which we see and feel like it's truly happening. But sometimes when these heavy CGI are employed you just can't help but notice that it's all fake. And it feels like the production teams are forcing you to believe what you generally know shouldn't be true.

I think their heavy reliance in CGI has led to some storylines that are so washec off. Because they believe they can do anything with the CGI as long as it comes to movie making. Hence they go ahead to write really incredible and unbelievable storylines then force then down our minds through our eyes.

Don't get me wrong, CGI has undoubtedly revolutionized the film industry and opened up new creative possibilities. It glaring even if you don't want to believe it. But then again shouldn't there be valid concerns about its overuse?. Isn't it making the movies lose its authenticity, disconnecting you from the true feel?, diminishing true creativity?.

Ultimately, I know the art of movie making should continue to evolve, either by leveraging CGI as a powerf tool but at the same time it should be able to help preserve the core elements of storytelling. I think filmmakers should try to maintain a thoughtful and professional balance between CGI and practical effects,at the same time keep the true spirit of the make believe world alive on the silver screen.
