[Movie] Movie Review: Humint.
I got interested in this movie immediately I saw the title. I just wanted to know what "humint" means. You know, I can't even think of what it is or what it was. So, I decided to give it a watch. Immediately I began watching; in just the few seconds I saw "Human intelligence." Immediately I knew where the title "Humint" was gotten from. And that made me even more curious. What's human intelligence? Is it versus artificial intelligence? Is there more, or does it have nothing to do with any of it?
So, I settled down and began to give it a watch. And believe me, it wasn't what I thought it was, but it was very, very interesting. The movie is about North Korean agents and South Korean agents. And you know how tough and fierce any movie that brings them together always looks. And from the very first few scenes, I could very well see what the human intelligence was. I understood how it is that they're gathering information from people who are being used and all; even still, I need to satisfy my curiosity, as the movie itself is compelling.
I like the setting of the movie and the roles played by both Jo Im-sung and Park Jeong-min. Very good actors, I must confess. They nailed their characters. The former had a very calm character and wa drhe type to think before taking action, while the later as well killed his role and those combinations made the movie even more interesting. Much more than that, I love how that the movie as well didn't just go all about shooting, fighting and actions in all the scenes, there are also attention grabbing scenes there, there's the interviewing part, there's the what's next part, there's the love and emotions part and all that. A very well-balanced movie, I must say.
Also, as agents, it is expected that they'd not trust that easily and be careful and, at the same time, wary of one another. I mean, someone who's right by your side today can be the person you're pointing a gun at tomorrow. And it made the movie even more interesting. I love detective movies a lot, and this did not disappoint me. Having said that, the movie is definitely worth watching. It even got to a point that I was wondering what exactly would happen next. Who's dying? Yeah. Towards the end of the movie when the shooting got hotter, I was so sure someone would die, and I can't help but wish it wasn't someone I've been admiring from the onset. You will have to give this movie a watch to understand what I'm saying.
Having said that too, I wouldn't say the movie is perfect, nah. The part where the girls that were being used were put out for auctioning and all were found and taken out felt somehow wrong to me. I mean, when they got out and one of them was trying to run, they shot her. What felt somehow wrong to me was how after she was shot, about two to three others ran to her. I understand that they were trying to help, but then, can't you think of the situation you're in? Well, they got shot too.
This is not to say that they didn't deliver, they did, but you know Korean movies to always insert some dumb stuffs in their movies. Yeah, and I love the movie so much as it borders around countries, missions, loyalty and such, and especially how that emotions and feelings began to get in the way and you're just left to chose.
Humint is not the most exciting and action packed movie I've watched, but then I enjoyed it and I can very well recommend it too.
