[TV] Movie Review: Would You Marry Me (2025)

You know, judging from the title of the movie, I guess one would think maybe it was a situationship that led to something like this, and maybe either the lady or the guy was close to someone who knew about their predicament and all and was still like, okay, considering all of this and all that you know, would you marry me? You know, maybe that's just my thought, though. But then after giving it a watch, I feel I can as well call it a situationship, though.

In short, the title was what caught my attention, so I decided to give it a watch. And after watching the first few episodes, it feels a little bit somehow to me, you know, the whole idea of two strangers entering a fake marriage just so the lady could be able to claim the house she won, how her to-be husband cheated on her after they've already registered their marriage and are planning to wed. It just feels like I already know how it will end even from the first few episodes.

Trust me, I was right about that; even still, I enjoyed watching it. Trust Korean movies to have various twists and still end up back together to what you had envisaged at first. Not always, though.

This particular one was about Yoo Me-Ri, a woman who was faced with a lot of things at the same time. She got scammed, her engagement ended, and all of that, and just when she feels all hope was lost, she wins a newlywed house. She had registered and participated in the event before her engagement got canceled, so when she won, it was a trying time for her.

Furthermore, she didn't have a house anymore, and her life was almost miserable. And that was where Kim Woo-Joo came in. The guy has the same name as her husband, who ended things with her. Now, she feels there's a way to claim the house.

She talked to him about it and begged him to become her husband for just 90 days; it is enough for her to claim the house and maybe sell it as well. It does sound somehow at first, but I guess it added to the beauty of the movie. At first it looked awkward between them, but slowly things began to ease up. Even though both of them were completely different people, they soon began to like each other.

The movie wasn't just about romance, and I especially love it for that. It touched on various aspects of life, talk of business, trust, betrayals, work, pressure, and a lot more. Kim Woo-Joo and his family definitely have a totally different story about them, not to talk of his uncle, who we later found out was behind the death of his parent, a colleague, and even attempted murder in his grandma, while diverting their company's funds and assets.

And I can't deny that the movie was interesting; there were times I laughed, other times I frowned, and countless times I had to rush into the next episode to see what exactly would happen next. But I especially love how what began as an arrangement of some sort eventually led into something real. Meanwhile, the other Kim Woo-Joo, who cut off his engagement with Yoo Me-Ri, got dumped too. He came back, got to know what was happening and all of that, but even though Yoo Me-Ri was the emotional type and all that, she refused to give in to him. It was already too late for him.

I can definitely recommend this movie to anyone. Give it a watch and thank me later.
