¡Holissssss !

Hoy les traigo una reseña diferente, una que me tocó el corazón y nos hizo abrazar a nuestro perrito con una fuerza inusual. Les hablo de “Caramelo”, la película brasileña de Netflix que está recién salida del horno (se estrenó el 8 de octubre) y que ya es un éxito mundial.

Esta peli trata sobre un perro callejero mestizo que se cuela en la vida de Pedro, un chef talentoso que acaba de recibir un diagnóstico médico fuerte que le cambia la vida. La conexión que se forma entre ellos es el corazón de la historia, demostrando cómo un animalito puede ser el salvador emocional que necesitamos.

Y aquí viene lo personal... ¡Nosotros no podíamos no verla! ¿Por qué? Porque en casa tenemos a nuestro propio "Caramelo" (el verdadero, el de carne y hueso, ¡y también es adoptado de las calles!). La película se convirtió en una especie de tributo a nuestro peludito.

Today I bring you a different kind of review, one that touched my heart and made us hug our dog with unusual force. I'm talking about “Caramelo,” the Brazilian Netflix movie that's hot off the press (it premiered on October 8) and is already a worldwide hit.

This film is about a mixed-breed stray dog who sneaks into the life of Pedro, a talented chef who has just received a life-changing medical diagnosis. The connection that forms between them is at the heart of the story, showing how a little animal can be the emotional savior we need.

And here comes the personal part... We couldn't not watch it! Why? Because we have our own “Caramelo” at home (the real one, flesh and blood, and also adopted from the streets!). The movie became a kind of tribute to our furry friendo.

La trama, dirigida por Diego Freitas, es una mezcla perfecta de drama, humor y mucho corazón.

• El Prota Humano: Pedro el Chef: Pedro (interpretado por Rafael Vitti) es un chef talentoso a punto de cumplir su sueño. Cuando recibe ese diagnóstico (que por cierto, es bastante duro), su vida se viene abajo. Ver cómo lucha y cómo su sentido del humor se recupera gracias a la compañía de este perro es súper conmovedor.

• El Héroe de Cuatro Patas: ¡Caramelo! Chicos, el perro es la estrella. El “Caramelo” de la peli (que en la vida real se llama Amendoim) es puro carisma. Él aparece en el momento justo, un perro callejero con hambre y ganas de dar amor. Su lealtad, valentía y la forma en que alerta a su humano sobre el peligro son de película (literalmente). El actor Vitti dice que el perro "Caramelo" es parte del "patrimonio" de Brasil. ¡Y con razón!

La película aborda la adopción de perros callejeros y la importancia de darles una segunda oportunidad. Al ver a Pedro y a Caramelo creando ese vínculo tan fuerte, mi familia y yo no podíamos evitar mirar al nuestro. ¡Nuestro Caramelo también fue un callejero rescatado! El filme refuerza esa idea de que ellos nos salvan a nosotros más de lo que nosotros los salvamos a ellos. Se trata de la esperanza, la amistad y la lealtad que no necesita palabras.

Sé que algunos podrían decir que es una historia un poco predecible (chico conoce perro, el perro lo ayuda, hay drama y final emotivo), pero créanme, la forma en que está hecha, la fotografía de São Paulo y el corazón que le ponen los actores (incluido el peludo) hacen que valga cada minuto. Además, la película va más allá del perrito. Habla de la vida real, de enfrentar enfermedades, de reevaluar tus prioridades y de darte cuenta de que el verdadero valor está en el amor y la conexión, no en las prisas.

The plot, directed by Diego Freitas, is a perfect blend of drama, humor, and heart.

• The Human Protagonist: Pedro the Chef: Pedro (played by Rafael Vitti) is a talented chef on the verge of fulfilling his dream. When he receives his diagnosis (which, incidentally, is quite harsh), his life falls apart. Seeing how he struggles and how his sense of humor is restored thanks to the company of this dog is super moving.

• The Four-Legged Hero: Caramelo! Guys, the dog is the star. The “Caramelo” in the movie (whose real name is Amendoim) is pure charisma. He appears at just the right moment, a stray dog hungry and eager to give love. His loyalty, bravery, and the way he alerts his human to danger are movie-worthy (literally). Actor Vitti says that the dog “Caramelo” is part of Brazil's “heritage.” And rightly so!

The film addresses the adoption of stray dogs and the importance of giving them a second chance. Seeing Pedro and Caramelo form such a strong bond, my family and I couldn't help but look at our own dog. Our Caramelo was also a rescued stray! The film reinforces the idea that they save us more than we save them. It's about hope, friendship, and loyalty that needs no words.

I know some might say it's a bit predictable (boy meets dog, dog helps him, there's drama and an emotional ending), but trust me, the way it's made, the cinematography of São Paulo, and the heart that the actors (including the furry one) put into it make it worth every minute. What's more, the film goes beyond the little dog. It talks about real life, facing illness, reevaluating your priorities, and realizing that true value lies in love and connection, not in rushing around.

Si eres dog lover, prepárate: vas a soltar unas cuantas lágrimas, vas a reírte con las travesuras del perro inquieto, y vas a terminar queriendo abrazar a tu mascota y darle toda tu comida.

Vayan a verla, Hivers. Si no tienen un perro, les van a dar ganas de adoptar uno. Si tienen uno (y se llama Caramelo, ¡mejor!), van a entender que la verdadera estrella de la casa es él. Es una oda a los perros mestizos que esperan un hogar.
