Oscars 2022 - Will Smith Slapping a Comedian and Winning Golden Globe
Hi everyone! Have you watched Oscars 2022? Well, the show was exciting not only concerning the awards but also with regards to Will Smith's attitude towards Chris Rock.
The comedian was on stage, performing stand-up when Will Smith couldn't resist his nerves and just stood up from his place and slapped him.
The joke Smith couldn't handle was related to his wife, Jada. Chris Rock made fun of Jada's lost hair, Jada being hairless at that moment. What the comedian probably didn't know was that beautiful Jada Pinkett Smith is actually suffering from alopecia, a medical condition that lead to her hair loss.
Jada has openly spoken about her hair issues before:
It was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, ‘Oh, my God, am I going bald? It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking with fear. That’s why I cut my hair — and why I continue to cut it. I just had [thought], ‘OK, I think we’re gonna do another layer of cutting,’ you know? And my hair has been a big part of me. Taking care of my hair has been a beautiful ritual, you know? And having the choice to have hair or not, and then one day to be like, ‘Oh, my God, I might not have the choice.

Although the couple's relationship seems to be an open one, Will Smith cares about his wife and wasn't at all happy to see her hurt. The actress was clearly uncomfortable with this joke and even rolled her eyes. I am not pro-aggressive behaviors as much as I am not pro-stupid jokes...anyway, I do understand Will Smith's anger who could have found a better way to address his concerns to the comedian. Chris Rock was just shocked, he just couldn't believe his eyes what just happened.
It seems that only 3 of 5 Americans didn't agree with Will's behavior, according to new polling published in LA Times. The same LA Times editorial board wants to ban Will Smith from the next year's Oscar.
Short after the incident, Will Smith has won his first-ever Golden Globe as Best Actor for his performance in King Richard.

I didn't watch this movie yet but I will definitely watch now. Will plays the role of Serena and Venus Williams's father. The movie seems to be interesting, especially if you like motivational movies or have a passion for tennis.
The Academy Awards has also expressed its point of view in a Tweet:
Well...it seems that violence may only be expressed in movies...and sometimes between colleagues or employees - and there are numerous examples in this case.
Overall, I would say...let's think twice before joking about someone - or at least, let's make our homework and consider having a better look at that person's background, let's try to handle the situation without physical force (especially now, when we are already in the middle of a War - Russian-Ukrainian War), and let's be honest about Will's performance in King Richard - if the man deserves an award for acting, why taking it for non-acting behaviours - but very real ones...I'm sure the Academy can come up with other compelling measures.
What about you? What do you think about all of these?
Yay! 🤗
