Oh wow! Now this is a twist I wasn't expecting and for those that know, you know. How crap was that Ghostbusters film a few years back? They absolutely destroyed a cult classic! I don't even want to speak of it. No doubt they HAD to return to tie up loose ends and ensure the franchise was completed.

Although the movie did leave some questions like the fact they wrote off that awful 3rd film by saying the firestation was now a Cafe. So how did the phone ring?

If like me you were wondering where Slimer was the notorious trouble maker from Ghostbusters 1 & 2 whom, I thought we ran into in the shed but wasn't well there is a whole fandom dedicated to the little green ghost which I had no idea. I also found
WHY Slimer wasn't in Afterlife article which was a pretty cool read, kinda made sense but I still think would have been awesome.

I also found another error in the film, in Afterlife they revert back to using the old energy weapons as they had originally changed in the second movie. I was kind of hoping for the youngin to come up and develop a smaller lighter version. I mean it's been 38 years since the first movie and technology usually advances.

The other interesting thing that occurred is that when she's talking to one of the ghostbusters she's informed that Sprangler ran off with all the packs and weapons. He was never to be seen again and left them high and dry.

Only for the other 3 ghostbusters to arrive with... packs. Where they come from?

It was however, really cool to see the marshmallow man be present in the film which gave me such a scare as a kid. Nothing was as scary as the marshmallow man for some reason.

Instead of opting for a giant marshmallow they went for lots of little ones with their own mischievous personalities which I found to be quite entertaining.

In a world of rehashed films that tap into nostalgia Ghostbusters:Afterlife definitely hits the nail on the head with a great blend of past, present and innovative features that deliver a nod to the past and a some what new story line.

Have you seen it yet? What were your thoughts?

I haven't but I loved ghostbusters as a kid.
I will put this on my watchlist, and see if I still like it as much as back then!

It was a fun watch. My understanding is that the previous movie never happened. They are considering it a whole other movie universe.

I also thought the same thing about the proton packs. Maybe they found them in the cave where they were keeping the spirits from coming out of the pit?

I did enjoy that they made this movie more about the characters than about busting ghosts. They had already beaten Gozer. So, it was more about reuniting with family, even if it was family they didn't know.
