Rings of Power

Online streaming continues to dominate our film industry with COVID19 really giving streaming services the upper hand with increased subscriptions due to lock down and no where to go.

Two of the series going head to head currently is Lord of The Rings - Rings of Power and House of the Dragon one being the prequal to Lord of the Rings and the other Game of Thrones.

The interesting thing with these shows running parallel with each other is that your mind confuses the two at times. It is an odd feeling as I will be sitting there trying to remember what happened last week and my wires get crossed!

Especially with both being prequels and introducing new characters with a similar setting oh my bound to have some trouble!

However, the show I have come to really enjoy and follow has been Rings of Power which I think has done a magnificent job in establishing origins stories although I am still not across how far away from Lord of The Rings the series is situated and if we will see some of the original film characters come to join us on our journey. Despite there being a few already making an appearance but there is obviously a lot which has occurred between then and now.

But thus far it is doing a good job of establishing the story which at times I find quite odd because we already know how it ends so how valuable is this additional story line? As with all Origin stories I am hopeful that it closes off unfinished story loops.

One character that I can not quite nail is the being that fell from the sky my firs thoughts were Gandalf but I am not too certain if he was around in this era which got me thinking maybe it is Sauron who will eventually corrupt the world into creating the rings of power.

But the one thing we do have to go on is that Gandalf has a strong connection to the Hobbits so my likely conclusion is that this is the development of that connection between Gandalf and the Hobbits. It is quite interesting to know that Gandalf was born old and didn't have that childhood of discovery.

Or perhaps he did but has fallen and had some form of injury and is being nursed back to full health.

IT has been fun to watch the story line of the Hobbits and how they were once nomadic travelers moving around the country side prior to how they were once we came to see them in Lord of The Rings in a more stable village like set up.

Given their small stature and vulnerability to larger animals and the elements they must have had some serious backing to be able to reside in a stable environment and no doubt that that support came in the form of Gandalf.

This is why I am being led to believe that the mysterious character we're watching is Gandalf.

What are your thoughts? do you have a fan theory?
