Goooooood day cinians hope you're having a wonderful day/night I've been catching up on a few movies lately and one of those movies is a favourite series of mine. Nothing too extravagant but I have really come to enjoy The Kingsman franchise that has kicked off.

Now this is an interesting story line and film development which I thin

k the producer has shifted a bit in order to save the franchise. Not that it is bad or anything but it is going up against some serious star power and money with Marvel and DC dominating this era of cinema.

But we'll get to that a little further down and it is just opinion based so I could be wrong but I think a smart strategy has been employed.

The very first Kingsman was a great funny and action packed film that focused on eggsy a wayward youth that ended up in a secret society of highly trained assassins and agents. The character development was good and the film delivered on a number of key points. Nothing special but a great watch and the films catch line Manners Maketh The Man really brought in a high esteem and cultured scene of well mannered and stylish assassins.

Unfortunately the second instalment wasn't as good as the first I know right! Was expecting so much more. It focused a lot on funny spy tech and expanded the Kingsman franchise beyond England. It was a cool concept but again they didn't focus as much on this but rather had it as a bolt on.

I think the film could have been ALOT better had they included more of the expanded characters instead of focusing on eggsy but it still managed to be an okish film although it did feel a bit rushed.

I think it was this wall that caused to franchise to have a soft reboot and delay the 3rd instalment and go to a prequel which focused on the establishment of The Kingsman agency.

Still sticking to much of the things the audience knew and loved and even playing along some historical time lines it managed to deliver a whole new experience. Keep viewers in the universe and totally forget about eggsy but still made it fit.

There were a few really great scenes and characters in the film but my favourite had to be the film adaption of Rusputin. I mean there were a heap of film characters they could have focused on but I think Rusputin was a really good choice. Despite being a notable historical figure there is not many film appearances of him.

They also developed a whole plot around how they killed Rusputin even fitting it in around the many myths about the man. You can tell that they did a lot of work on it and this was one of the films major climaxes. Well played.

The film even pulled some I did not see that coming moves which was out of the films narrative but welcomed.

This quick franchise direction switch I believe would have helped it retain viewers and fans while giving the team time to plan the grand finale which brings back eggsy and Harry for their final chapter.

The film did rush the end to connect everything together in a few final shots which I felt could have been better explained. But at least we got to hear the famous saying Manners Maketh The Man.

What were your thoughts?

Sounds really interesting and enjoyed watching. I'm curious but I only love to watch movies and dramas in native languages that I understand, with subtitles I'm not comfortable.

I really wanted to see this at the cinema, never got around to it. It really is on my 'One Day...' list, but was glad to see the review. Tim

Definitely worth the watch it's on streaming services now so that's great

Another one for the list; my wife and I are doing 'Inventing Anna' or something like that on Netflix at the moment, it's one of the best shows we've seen in a very long time - but the episodes go for 65 minutes or so, and we havn't made it through a full episode yet before heading to bed. 45 minutes, pause - then straddle 2 episodes and so forth.

Anyways, it's been a long time since I've actually streamed a film!

It's on my watchlist, glad to see it's recommended, Rasputin is a really good mythical figure that is underused. Other than animation "Anastasia" there isn't any other adaptation of him that is memorable (if you disagree let me know which movies have great Rasputins XD).

I totally get what you mean and I think it was really good that the film focused on him as a key villain and I loved the fight/dance scene.
