Movie Review: Seven Doors (2024)
Hello my movie family. Happy weekend my people. Today I'll be reviewing the movie SEVEN DOORS. A 2024 series written by Adebayo Tijani and Yinka Laoye. And produced by euphoria 360 in collaboration with Netflix and directed by the one and only Femi Adebayo.
The series SEVEN DOORS is all about a middle class civil servant who lives in the city but is choosen to ascend the throne of his fathers. He heads back to his home-town Illara-Mokin, Ondo State and is crowned king. Along the line of his reign, trouble starts and a lot of calamity befalls the people. He consults the gods and is told the atrocity his forefathers committed when they were on the throne and since his family had not been on the throne for a while it didn't affect the community. And since his family was on the throne, he had to be the sacrificial lamb to correct and right the wrongs.
He faces alot of challenges because he did not listen, first he loses his only daughter and his once lovey dovey marriage became almost shattered after he takes six additional wives.
The film premiered on the 11th day of December, 2024 in lekki, Lagos. The movie featured top casts:

The film had 11 nominations in total, making it the most nominated.
What I loved about this movie is the suspense it first started with. I'm sure if the movie didn't start that way I would have lost interest from the beginning. The movie starts with 7 ladies walking along a path leading to the top of a hill and when they get fo the top of the hill they all fall down to the ground 8ft or so and die without even saying a word, even to each other. I was so eager to watch the movie to see what brought about that scene. Femi is really good at what he does. Another part I loved was where the igbo tribe were brought in to the movie, the King married an Igbo woman and of course there were no tribal wars like how it happens here on social every second.
But the part I really didn't like in the film was where his daughter lost her life and his son almost losing his own. Those children were so innocent but made to suffer the sins of their fathers.
The part i found more interesting was the scene he had to go through a ritual to become fit for the position of the king. He followed procedures and proved himself worthy to rule the people of Ilara.
The scene that keeps popping into my head is that where the former king gives up the lives of his seven wives to live longer. I was so stuck to the screen during that particular scene, was so emotional. It's actually what happens in the real world. What people do just to get power and wealth.
The great thing about this movie is how culture was portrayed, two tribes brought together and even family ties. There were a lot of possible lessons that could be learnt from the movie. And its a wrap guys on the movie "SEVEN DOORS".
