This TV series was my favorite during my childhood, I was about 10 years old when it was broadcasted in my country Venezuela, at that time I hallucinated seeing how some reptiles looked like humans, at that time the special effects were a spectacle, my favorite scenes that still remain in my memory are the arrival of the Mothership to Earth, the romance between a lizard man and a human woman and the moment of the birth of the so-called "Star Girl and her brother who were born of that love affair.
V Alien Invasion (1983) was a megahit of its time, although this good old fashion piece of science fiction has charmed its audience almost four decades back; the reason why I delve deeply into this mini-series is to seek answer to the question of whether this work of art still stands the test-of-time.

The advent of aliens referred as the “visitors” who initially present themselves as a compassionate force until the reality reveals itself that visitors came to take control of earth and its resources. To counter this invasion, only a few resisted while the majority has given up to avoid oppression at the hands of aliens. This mini-series highlights the importance of resistance against a powerful exploitative force. I have articulated all the details to prove why V Alien Invasion (1983) has become future-proof.
Portraying broader subject matter rather than parochial issues is what I believe made this mini-series immortal. The dominance of the “visitors” is paralleled with the dominance of fascism in the post-WW1 era, victimization of scientists is paralleled with victimization of Jews during the holocaust. Subject matters such as oppression, dictatorship, fascism, kleptocracy, and violence will remain relevant for generations to come. That is why I feel the necessity to revisit art as such V Alien Invasion (1983) to reflect on mistakes we have made in past so that history doesn’t repeat itself.

V Alien Invasion (1983) embraces some remarkable performances. My favorite is Faye Grant's portrayal as Julie Parrish whose transition from a bright student to the advocate of resistance is worth every second. Moreover, I regard Marc Singer's portrayal as Mike Donovan as his best performance. He is represented as vulnerable and struggles a lot throughout his journey, not to mention the villain Diana , a role played by actress Jane Badler . In addition,Kenneth Johnson-director and writer of V Alien Invasion (1983)-skillfully incorporated imagery and symbolism into his work that translates into meaningful cues for us to decipher.

The “visitors” gained power by controlling the inhabitants of earth in the same manner fascist regimes try to control people by curbing their liberty and access to information. I believe that the control of information is one of the major contemporary issues in our world.
